Nicely done! I’ve had a drone license for a few years (you wouldn’t need one for this) but there are very few places you are allowed to fly drones any more, largely only on private land and some forest areas. Flying a drone in parks is pretty much not allowed anywhere. Some areas such as national parks have large fines in place for drone use (unless you have a permit from the park itself) Do agree it is a great little drone, but for limited use of course. Note; I did watch another channel where the beginner user crashed it several times (tree branches) and there were no issues, so fairly sturdy too.
Sweeetie & I have had 3 DJI drones [Mavic, Spark & Mini 3 Pro), but were always too afraid to use them. From day 1 we have LOVED the HoverAir X1 and have been using it for Intro ‘drone” shot on EVERY Beer🍺Vlog since we got it. This is BY FAR the best purchase of 2023 [2nd & 3rd place to DJI Pocket 3 & iPhone 15 Pro Max]. I Pre-Ordered ProMax model Combpack just released to Pre-Order last week , is HUUUUUGGGE upgrade to this & cant freaking wait to get it next month is truly ground breaking in feathers & specs
HoverAir X1 has really identified what many people want in a drone and delivered! The only issue I had with it was that if you find that you want a little more (once you realised you love drone shots) is that it is limited. At this price point, you can get DJI drones like SE2 and for a little more (OK a fair bit more) you can get a Mini 4 (or a 3) which gives you so much more. So the question is will this be enough? Or will it wet you appetite for more and you end up buying another drone? Still - I think it is fantastic!
It’s a good question if this would be enough long term. Probably depends on how much you like using manual mode. For now, I’m happy with the quick presets and find that it’s enough for me, and my partner is the one who’s more into DJI drones, so we balance each other out. For now 😉
I have dji mini 4 pro. It is the best. It has all the features of a professional drone. Packed in a little package. I have the fly more combo plus. I love it! I'm looking to get the pocket 3. But I like yours videos.

Can't watch this now as I am at work but I'm glad to see you got one of these. My new setup is DJI Pocket 3, DJI Action 4, and Hover X1. Going on a trip Friday and taking this combo!
A great drone for people who don’t like drones, LOL. It does great for what it is, the technology is amazing. But it seems a little overpriced, the DJI Mini 2SE is on the Black Friday Sale for $299, and it’s a much more capable drone. And it also has quick shot modes such as selfie mode. Great review, and thanks for sharing.
hehehe I know its your first drone and it does not fly high enough but I cringed and giggled when you broke rule #1 that being under power lines lol the cost of the drone for the video quality you get is a rip off... the image is horrible
Awesome little drone. Can’t compare to regular drones for quality of video and distance (also can’t fly over water). Hover is so easy my 6 year old grandsons can fly it.
Now that you had a positive experience with the Hover X-1, it time to graduate to, say - Mini-2 SE (Similar price range) or Mini 4 Pro (about triple the cost.DJI Drones over the last 4-5 years dont lose GPS signal and rarely lose controller signal (in which case they return to home) but a DJI can greatly outperform the Selfie purposed X-1, as good as it is. You are more than ready for a sub-250 gram drone, plus Christmas is coming!

A friend has a Hover and has used it to film herself mt biking. The footage has been fun to watch.

A great review as always. Ashame about the battery life and that it doesn't have memory higher than the 32 gb on board. As always a BIG thumbs up!!!

It is pricey for a beginner drone and looks cheaply made. With about same price i would get the mini 2 SE

Good tip about the DJI Mini. I’ve only heard about the Pro3 and Pro4, so it’s good to know there are cheaper DJI options out there.

It doesn’t look like it from the angle, but this drone was nowhere near the power lines-the max height is so low it wasn’t a concern.

20 mins+ battery would have been very nice
Would definitely be nice. But I will say that I haven’t yet drained a battery while out shooting.

I have my eye on the DJI Mini 4 Pro. Now that action camera release season has slowed down, might be time to focus on drones!
