So nice to see an estate car rather than the vast array of SUV’s that manufactures keep throwing at us. All they need to do now is make a 3 pedal manual version 👍
Imo there are too many estates to choose from
There's the beamer, the merc cls type, merc e type, audi a6 type, the Volkswagen golf estate, the Volvo cross country and the Mercedes off road lifted type
Then there's the fast and expensive taycan and panamera types
Still all of them are better than those drony loser crossover types eugh!
Skoda also has an estate i believe and i guess the Koreans and the Japanese have some models too
And now the best estate makers i.e. the Americans have ceased all estate models, a crying shame at that
@@haberdasherrykr8886 most of which we don't get in the US 🙈
@@jsquared1013 you guys really shot yourselves in the foot chasing suvs that you don't off-road or the pickups you don't utilise to tow or haul with
Your bankers are cunning a holes
Speaking strictly as someone from the U.S., an estate is still a very rare sight. So much more stylish when one turns up on the roads here in the sea of generic shapeless SUVs and Crossovers. They certainly stand out. 😉
I would take the touring version over the saloon. So classy, so fast, unbeatable real world package.
here here 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻
and practical
To be honest, I was expecting it to still have the grille, but the rest of the new M3 Touring looks great 😉👌
Honestly I think the XL grill looks not quite as ridiculous on the estate
@@TheFlyingPineapple It actually looks better with a front (euro) plate too.
This grill is better than audis fake exhaust pipes 😂
The grill is still a major problem so far as I'm concerned. I'm sticking with the old style until they come to their senses.
The overall proportions look much better on the tour than either the coupe or saloon. Grilles are still ugly, but it has a great rear end. The junction between the rear door and rear arches looks like an afterthought. I’m not sold on the new screen either especially after BMW we’re the last hold out for HVAC buttons.
Great video - really like the idea of this car - there seems to be a resurgence of “super-tourers” recently - also Lol at the kid waving at the camera at 2:53 😂
Alpina B3 Touring though. No silly front grill and perfection everywhere else. Why would you buy an M3 when you have that choice
Because car ownership is about individual choices. Not everyone has the same taste.
I'd tend to agree. Alpina seems to be rather consistently under appreciated. Can they still be ordered straight from some BMW dealerships ?
@@TeslasSecret I think so, BMW just recently bought Alpina
@@Alby911 Thanks. That's cool. They've been on my "lottery bucket-list" for quite a long while now. Great to hear that they're now fully cared for financially, as long as BMW doesn't turn them into some sort of trim level à la Maybach.
Because it's not a M car lmao. They're totally different underneath
The cameraman has cheekily avoided the still hideous looking nose for most of the video 🤣🤣🤣
It *is* the elephant in the room, and he always had to go get batteries 😀
That purple is immaculate
I'd have mine in green but it would be an Alpina B3 Touring.
Good choice. Have mine since a year as a replacement for the F82 and it’s the best car I’ve ever had by far. M3 touring is too aggressive here and there and still everyone looks at you.
Just some references if you dont know what does 735 in nurburgring means:
733 Porsche 911 GT3 RS(997.2)
735.9 BMW M5C (F90)
738 Lexus LFA
Are those like lap times ( pardon my ignorance)
purple looks really damn good
Front end no no, otherwise looking good...👌🏼
Urban green, on blue would be my choice. Especially if you can do a fully blue interior with hints of black and carbon.
at the start of watching the livestream on FOS 2022, i was thinking if Henry would be there, or drive, ofc he can make the M3 touring appealing.... BMW shoud've done the E46 M3 Touring as wel!
I'd buy this but i'd have to crash the front bumper into a wall.
There's already some aftermarket bumbers that change that awful beaver teeth front end into something more eye-friendly.
Don't you crash all your cars
@@richardmesser1091 As a professional er, stunt driver?
Oxford Green Metallic. I love it.
Is there anyone who likes this widescreen glued on top of the dashboard?
Waiting for it since the E36, but it is much to heavy!
Love those grills
I love the grill
Another great Carfection video.
Glad I can't afford it, that way I don't have to be pissed at the (imho) awful dash and grille.
Alpina B3 touring for me please (Hmmm dreaming)
As much as I like a very fast practical estate car, the RS4 for size and an RS6 for sheer brute is still the winner in my book. Just cannot spend £90k with a grill like that.
Is that a carbon fiber cod piece they've put in the front seats? Quick release ejector seat handle? An air bag for your scrotum? A handily placed fast phone charging port? Don't tell me there's a camera in there as well..
Face like crimewatch, body like baywatch
IMO, not worth the extra money. The 340i touring is as much power you'd ever need outside of a racetrack. If you're gonna go racing, then knock yourself out, the touring will be able to carry another set of tires in the back.
The way oversized front grills are still there but way more acceptable blacked out
Here's my idea for BMW:
- build a 2WD 6 speed manual touring with a manual LSD
- 2 litre 4 cylinder turbo from the Z4 with 300 bhp
- shed 500 kg (1800 kg for an estate is very heavy...)
- fit normal instrumentation (have a look at the back catalogue) and delete the micro-wave, the cup holders etc
- fit narrower tyres to increase the fun.
- call it a "2022Ti".
BMW has become the Gucci of the automotive industry more a fashion statement than anything else.
Very fair analogy
For people with too much money and bad taste.
They still drive decently well
**Cries in North American**
Dark purple for the win 🏆
I might have accidentally bought a fully spec'd Green one! and it has shiny gold callipers!
Not going to complain about big screens but that dash is hideous
Nice motor but 1800kgs for an M car?
Car looks stunning. Wish we got it in my country!
Acid green please!!!
Grey for sure with black optics and carbon additions
All the car you could ever need.
Would still have an Alpina B3 touring, it doesn’t have the grill.
So... last m3 touring and no manual again? I like the purple and green colors but why no manual? Resale value plummets with that trans though - the only relevant metric for people like me. I would rather have an e60 with an auto trans and do a swap for much much less money.
If your thinking of resell value you shouldn't be buying a BMW..
@@EthanEJC Oh you misunderstand. I would never buy new. I was just confused who this is for. I will happily continue on buying their flawed but fun products second hand and modifying them. No reason whatsoever to buy new... they don't offer a manual apparently.
The grilles are the best bit. When it first came out I wasn't so sure......with the passage of time I now think it looks muscular & suits the stance of the M car.
Purple please…sounds crazy but my current Touring has the red interior…it gets more comments than anything else…so red interior. I wish.
Can’t believe the front looks better than the rear…they had “one “ job..
Love it!
Dogs in the boot will never be happier! Assuming they keep their dinners down...
I know everybody knows including them by now, but that front grill is a big facepalm.
If I had the money to purchase this, the first thing I'd do is take that godawful nose off the car. Hell I'd redesign and fabricate the bodykit myself if I had to.
Yeah, I'll take that purple one thanks, red interior, carbon pack. 👍🏻
One of the big problems with all this screen-mania by the manufacturers is clearly on display here, from multiple camera angles: the GLARE. That, plus having to take your eyes off the road to change things in the HVAC or seat heaters, etc, because there is no tactical feedback with a screen 🤢
Manual option?
Looking forward to the First Drive Henry, and I'd Spec mine in "Isle of Man Green" over "Tortufo" in a Manual of course
No manual for the wagon.
@@boy638 Says who?...where do you get your news?
@@mithritades The M3 wagon is only available in the Competition AWD variant which is auto-only. You don't have to take my word for it. Just look it up yourself.
@@mithritades It’s true. Even for left hand drive markets. I know because I put a deposit on an M3 wagon last year in Germany. I’d rather sit on the left of the car than drive an automatic M. Cancelled when the news came through that there would be no RWD or manual. Bollocks. BMW did exactly the same to me with the E46 CSL.
Hate the new screen instead of a binnacle. Sad that it’s 4wheel drive and auto only and am also sad that it can’t take a tow hook. No carbon roof either. The car I expected from M, but not the one I hoped for. A cool enough novelty but…bit of a fail IMO.
purrrple 💜
Would like to see this against the rs6
Yes because thats a sensible comparison….
Looks like the grown-up version of The Boot.
All Dad's rejoice
Overall I think its a great looking car... However, I still cannot overlook them kidney grills :( .
How can hate a fast estate even with that questionable grill
Me no hate
those screens can make sense on an electric car but on sport/GT/touring cars are awful, hopefully we'll move on from it in the next generation...
I prefer the old interior
Thanks for the look at this awesome estate! So much nicer than any SUV or Crossover….but I still can’t get over that INSANELY ugly front end…it looks like an Edsel that someone took pot-shots at with a shotgun! If it had the old architecture up front, it would look really cool in that purple.
I would have one. If, i could drive everywhere in reverse to hide the pig of a front end.
Asesores color on the purple one
Awesome*
but no tow bar option!!! :(
Henry it's more than £80,000. No wonder BMW are hardly selling M-cars above the M2 at the moment.
£80,000... before options....
Looks great, but sorry the front ruins it for me. The grill is still stupid, no it hasn’t ‘grown on me’. It’s just out of proportion with the rest of the front, people are saying it looks more aggressive and that that’s good but it’s still ugly; they could’ve made an aggressive front without it looking ugly. Also can’t get on board with the comments of “it looks better with a plate”, “it doesn’t look as bad in x colour or in y trim”, nope, when you’re paying that much money for a car you shouldn’t have an eye sore you need to cover up with a plate or specific colour. It’s a bad design. My F30 still makes me turn back to appreciate it every time I park it, think I’ll hang on to it a bit more until a new one does the same. Or work a bit harder for an 8 series😅
Why’s everyone focusing on the grille? The whole car is badly designed!
M3 touring with xdrive, damn. Also, this new S58 engine is so potent, a simple remap with stock components untouched can boost its power to 600bhp! That's pure insanity. I'm sure that remap alone with its rear biased awd grip can probably make up for its 1800kg weight.
I was expecting to see the car more, than the face, if you want to talk, just do a podcast
RIP Audi RS Division....lol
The front is great! More aggressive than smaller kidneys. And weight... no need even to try discuss it, they can't make it lighter with the pricing you want.
And with regulations in terms of safety they have to meet you can forget about "the good ol' light cars"
If you have kids in the back believe me they won’t be able to resist poking their feet through those holes in the seat right into the base of your back🙄
Shame it’s still gopping.
Looks great. Wonderful to see an estate and not another SUV.
If they are so onboard pride stuff, why isn't the actual logo on the car the rainbow one they displayed everywhere for the past 20+ days and still are displaying? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
While the new Supra was just a fat M3, that thing is O - B - E - S - E. it definitely needs all the 500 hp and x-drive just to keep up with the traffic. And that trunk lid is for people who don't actually use it for anything, just want to drive a wagon for looks. It looks like an SUV, but due to lack of ground clearance, won't go the same roads as SUV. Nope, solid nope.
Interior no buttons is trash
Lies, it has iDrive wheel which is the best in business, shortcut buttons and volume knob. It's just climate control that's gone to screen.
@@richardlabeja still not good
Best car on sale in late 2022. The saloon looks a bit better imho
And of course, US safety regulations deem this car as communist
Car looks fantastic apart from that after Mercedes thought tablet design, a vehicle should have a cluster definitely not into this crape looking stick on, sorry.
Sold on the rear, repulsed by the front
For most car buyers,
How the exhaust sounds ... yawn
Ability to go tail-happy ... yawn
Special-looking seats ... yawn
New bmw badge ... yawn
plaid
This video should be made illegal in the US. Serious FOMO.
Ugly with more space is still ugly.
He looks like the love child of Steven Merchant, Rowan Atkinson and Ash from Pokemon. Only slightly more boring.
Put an E90 front end on it and I'd be on board. They finally put out an M3 wagon and make it the ugliest one.
1800kg LMAO no thanks
First
BMW will be putting that screen on all there LCI M cars. Makes the feel more digital which takes away from the feel of having something special.
Porsche is the only company right now that’s doing touchscreens right. BMW is just tossing the screen on the dash and calling it a day.
If BMW wants to save money then stop trying to make 50 different models. We don’t need M cars that sit 2 feet off the ground. We don’t need 5 different versions of one model.
If it were my money and it had to be a BMW 3 series I'd buy the B3 Touring Alpina, 500hp, £80k and no growler face.
Fantastic as always Henry, I have been way more excited about the M3 Touring than the M4 CSL. I am going to go with a Porsche colour, something bright to complement the Speed Yellow of my 993.
I think BMW have finally found a format that the massive grill actually suits - a wagon!
Not in the US… :(
Looks a very nice prospect, however that screen looks stuck on like an afterthought, surely they could have integrated better like Mercedes etc.
Awful looking front and fat rear. Side is OK 😂
Always go purple on the M3! Looks so good.
So disappointed that this it's going all over the world except the United States... The usual BMW f*ckery...😡
Well, BMW is convinced, that nobody in the 🇺🇸 will buy it:
Just sat in one of these at the FoS and the seats were really difficult to get in and out of, rock solid side bolsters and very firm, hardly any padding. If the car rides firm you will feel every bump
That’s right, I intentionally didn’t go for the carbon seats. Guys who are too tall really struggle to get in, more importantly girls with heels will hate you as well.
It's an M3, what did you expect?
@@shogun2215 exactly, it's an M3, not a 918.
How can they possibly get any 3-series to weigh 1800kg, let alone a ‘competition’ version!
That, the £80k starting price and that buck-toothed front grille aside, it’s great to see an M-car in Touring guise again.
100% NOPE!
Without taking into account the disgusting front end (Other than the headlights) this is AMAZING ❤️❤️🔥
As an owner of the current M3 I have to agree with you, that face has a look only a mother could love. The beauty of it though, is sitting inside you never have to see it🤣🤣🤣
M340i makes more sense as an estate car and would be better to drive in the real world.
