Highlander is worth considering but the new Toyota 2.4 turbo hasn't been around long enough to establish a track record. The outgoing 4Runner would be a solid choice for a "mid-size" SUV. Currently I'm considering trading in my 2023 Pilot for a Rav4 hybrid. Sounds kinda crazy right? Well, I realized I don't need something 3rd row and the Toyota hybrid AWD is awesome. Plenty of power in a smaller SUV and 40mpg! Very reliable with proven track record. Highlander hybrid could be solid option as well. So much to consider. My best advice? Don't buy anything in it's 1st or second model year and drive everything that's out there before you decide.

2023 Pilot owner, steering assembly had to be replaced due to noise and popping. The recall is coming no doubt.

You sure you're not just experiencing torque steer? What you described may have nothing to do with the recall.
Idk it’s possible, but torque steer usually doesn’t feel as stiff as what I’m feeling
I got my rack replace 6 months ago and been waiting almost a year for my Honda.
