Wow! Judge David Unterhalter must be given the opportunity. Exemplary, articulate and resolute in his beliefs in the face of a completely ludicrous line of questioning in the middle, there ... Much Respect! May we imbue our legal stuctures with more people of strength and integrity. Amazing to witness.

Judge Unterhalter is undoubtedly one of the best and the most experienced judge in the South African judiciary. It is common cause that very highly educated and experienced judicial officers attact many enemies, this is evident by the complaint of bribe that has been brought against him. It is clear that based on the judgement that he gave in favour of a particular bank, his enemies have found a platform to prevent him from getting the job. I bet that Government will not regret giving him the post.

Judge David Unterhalter is exemplary and articulate. He has proved his competence and will serve the SCA with distinction.

Absolutely, but I think he would have been suitable and excel in the Con Court. He is a great value to our legal system.

They would never appoint him because he is far too competent & makes everyone else look stupid. He is rated as one of the best legal minds in the world

But why they appointed him in the high court, if they are the way you think they are.

Thats the problem majority Black SA's have with white people, is that they think assume (without really saying it) but we know them as many of them DO say such things, an assumption or insinuation that everyone who is Black is corrupt and incompetent and STUPID and therefore the motive and basis for decisions or views taken is always based on the two issues incompetence and corruption. Im writing my dissertation on WHITE PATHOLOGY-its sickening and also just as bad if not worse than corruption! Having said this, Judge Unterhalter, has always had my support and vote! He is brilliant!

In our democratic society where one wants to declare something like a compliant which in viewing the same may have adverse effects on his candidature - i think it is wrong to deny the request and purport or imagine that a question would be impossed and a room to deal with the compliant would than be canvased. But again, I do not know law and the CJ is the Head of the Judiciary he knows best.

He is undoubtedly a brilliant legal mind and impressively eloquent in his articulation of the law. He sadly blighted an otherwise excellent interview when he failed to concede gracefully that he erred to have sat as part of the CC panel that heard an application he had previously adjudicated upon in the SCA. That omission showed him as lacking a sound grasp of the elementary principle of law that justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done. The appearance of impartiality is everything.

There is nothing he can do. He must accept that it is not yet time for him to occupy a position of being a Judge in the SCA or Concourt.
Those NGOs and certain section of the media that are trying very hard to force him to our throats must accept as well. His time will come. He must relax

Age is not on his side. If he is not appointed in the upcoming interviews, I doubt he will ever avail himself for selection again. Quite disheartening to see such a brilliant jurist miss out on accession to an Appeal Court. He's a deserving and competent candidate - and is being forced onto us on based on nothing but merit!
