It’s so amazing how he used his voice. Early on in his career he used his voice to the extreme,super heavy songs and stuff like that. Then as his voice aged he started the acoustic sets and then this album. He knew how to use his voice perfectly.
ahmed irfan he had such a diverse range of genres he could comfortably sit in. people forget that particular attribute when discussing the greatest vocalists of all time. his range and power will objectively push him into that conversation, but there are still so many other aspects of his singing that should put him well above the rest.
@@CME1124 exactly right. It wasn't just his range and timbre. It was the scope of genres and styles that he embraced and excelled at.
I often go with my wife to visit Chris's grave at Hollywood Forever Cemetery and we are usually by ourselves and this version of this song comes to my head as I stand there looking at his grave. Just visited it last week and it brings back so many memories of his talent as a musician. RIP Chris, love ya brother ❤🎶🎶🎶🎸

One of the few albums ever recorded that has only incredible songs. Most albums have at least a couple songs or more not really worth listening to, but Higher Truth is not one of them. Every single song is AMAZING.
He hit the John Lennon level of songwriting. There is no doubt. He ended his solo set last year with this song. The outro and effects were ridiculously great!

Chris Cornell is an underrated member of this movement and there are several reasons for this, among them: He was the pathfinder of Grunge SOUNDGARDEN was the first band to have a signature and to sort of authenticate this term grunge that didn't even exist before. He formed TEMPLE OF THE DOG which was a tribute to Andy (another underrated grunge band due to his early death) and with Eddie Vedder, which after this band, allowed the formation of Pearl Jam. And perhaps the most underrated reason of all is that Nirvana put grunge on the rise from SEATLLE but there were bands with better and much richer content than them.
Cornell was more poetic than the Beatles, heavier than Black Sabbah and with a vocal timbre compared to Freddie Mercury. He was a musician with a combination of excellent vocal, melodic and artistic quality.

Wow, yeah definitely one of my favorite rock voices ever. Didn't know him , but living in Seattle, I listen to KEXP and would hear his interviews on there and loved the guy. Sad thing that happened and I'm still mourning a man I don't know just cos his voice and lyrics have always gently touched my pain I think.
