Mate when I was in the Marines we used to carry things like eggs in water bottles, all ready cracked and out of the shells. when you needed them just poor one out. If you only want 2 eggs to take then get small bottle with large open neck. Job done. In the cold they will keep fresh for days pal.
No one I know would trade in real eggs for powdered Sh.T.lol Its not the war lol. ANy way each to there own I guess, I look forward to th next adventure Pat, and will be looking to see fresh eggs or powdered ones.
When I were a Royal Engineer we used to nick eggs from farms, then they were really fresh when we cooked 'em for breakfast. In the cold we eat them as soon as we nicked 'em. Job done
My God Patrick you ate more in twenty four hours than i eat in a week, five rashers of bacon....where do you put it all? Nice camp but i would miss the tent rocking in 30+ mph winds, getting no sleep all night and waking up to rain and mist showers... boy i miss Kinder Scout ha ha. Atb Bill.
Hi Bill yes normally camp as high as I can, made a change in woodland, but I feel the pull of Kinder and Bleaklow, thanks for watching and comments Pat
There’s something really gentle , relaxing and endearing about your vids that I really enjoy. You seem totally at peace in nature. Thanks for uploading.
Incredible menu! When my mates and I went camping in the 60s, we took dried fruits, nuts, beef jerky and powdered eggs. The kind of fare that gagged the foot soldier in WWII.
Hi Michael yes I may of had too much food on this camp, but I like la!b chops Tent was great, just a bit uncomfortable, may get a lightweight chair, all the best Pat
That was marvelous - thank you. I was eating corned beef for lunch while watching this ,so I really enjoyed the look of those lovely lamb chops, mash, veg & gravy!!! atb. snack
Lamb Chops for tea, and bacon and eggs for Breakfast. now that's what i call a 5 star camping trip, you would be Brilliant on TV on a sunday Evening. I can just see the highlights in 10 years time "Welcome to Sir Patrick Dickinson's" the joys of camping. Keep the Good work up Sir and i hope we get to see many more.
Absolutely brilliant. I couldn't cook that in the comfort of my kitchen. I take hard boiled eggs in my pockets on a winter hike. Fantastic hand warmers and great snack when they eventually cool. I think I'll watch your pub videos next as i fancy a pint 👍🍻 Cheers again Pat.
Another enjoyable outing Patrick! Thank you for taking us along, and sharing your expertise in the field. Always appreciate how you respond to viewer comments, and respect the advice and tips of fellow outdoor enthusiasts. We all benefit from your example.
Hi Pat another great video always look forward to them not only are they interesting but have a nice humour to them as well already looking forward to the next one
Live in Canada, but used to live in Disley and would cycle and walk all over. thanks for your videos - they take me back to my youth. And by the way - I live in a huge country near Banff and Jasper but honestly the UK countryside is more accessible, and just as beautiful. There's more wolves and cougars though - but looking at old friends facebook pages there seem to be quite a number of cougars in Manchester these days.
Another great video Patrick, the food looked fit for a king to 😊admire your get up and go , and how you managed in a small space and didn't lose your utensils is commendable, thank you👍👍
Hi Fran just catching up on my vidios remember this camp from last year, great camp for food, looking forward to a few camps next few monthts niceto talk to you Pat
Hi Danielle yes I walked past that spot many times bit of a climb down thats why I did not know it was there. Should be nice in summer with the little stream, all the best Pat
Hi Patrick, this is my first comment on one of your vids, just wanted to thank you for all the work you put into your amazing videos. I have been on a bit of a Sunday binge of your vids. Great content, a pleasure to watch. Thank you!!!!
I love your light weight camping, better than a tranger pan when you are hungry, Thank you for Chanel l relay enjoy watching your days out keep it up thanks ATB
With all those brussel sprouts and broccoli, I can only assume it was windy later that night..inside the tent haha! Thanks for climbing that hill twice just for our sake! Greetings from the Cariboo region of British Columbia where we have a winter storm warning and are expecting 30-50 CM of snow in the next 48 hours on top of the 20 of so we got yesterday. Thanks for anther great video!
Hi and we though we had it bad your forecast sounds very interesting though better than our varying amounts of cloud, can,t beat a bit of veg, thanks for watching Pat
Ahhh those lamb chops, they tasted lovely, but not something to cook inside a tent with all the fat, by coincidence we parked about 200 yards from this camp site today and walked all round Blackamoor woods, a nice walk untill the heavens op-ed up and we got soaked....... thanks Pat
Another lovely film Pat. I'm very impressed that you leave your campsite spotless before you get on your way home. I remember a walk I used to do in Sheffield which was composed of 3 adjoining parks. If I remember rightly, the first one started near Brocco Bank and it ended up in the hills.
Hi yes know the area well at Brocco bank you enter Endciffe park and you will of walked through the parks up Porter Clough lovely walk. I have a video on about the Porter valley covering this walk the other way round, thanks for comments Pat
Greetings Pat...Another enjoyable video,i'm sure i could smell your cooking while i was watching it...looking forward to your next adventure...i'm off to the kitchen for some grub now. Cheers Mate! George (Devon)
Great to see you enjoying your snap like this. It looked to me like you put a sprout in your mouth, realised it was too bot then blew cold breath across it. Classic. I love watching these videos Pat; i think i've watched this one three times. Got me planning my next wild camp.
Nice1 Patrick!! When the meat and veg were cooking I was thinking... i hope pat eats that out of the frying pan......and hey presto !!! Anyway 10/10 for the effort you put in to produce these videos...it Is,I'm sure appreciated by many....thanks again Mo Wilts
Pleased to see you being outdoors again Pat! I liked your cooking adventure a lot! Besides, the fact that YOU always make US hungry I should dust off my road bike and get on with some exploring around Peaks as well. By the way you got me hooked on that next "project" of yours!!! Happy days, be well Pat! Martin
I always tuck into these spots Pat. Indeed, no survivalist would purposefully camp on top....not a good strategy. Good for the views but not for sheltering from the elements namely the wind. That sure was a mighty meal....filled the pan! Good going. All the best. Mark
By eck Patrick, your well sorted, made me Hungry watching you expertly cooking your meal, and breakfast, well done and thank you for such interesting videos,
Excellent video Patrick a nice early start to the season some tasty fare there I like to cook like that when I am out can't be doing with stuff in ration packs or dried noodles but some times you just can't avoid them if it a long camp in the sticks thanks Thanks Geoff.
Hi Geof yes agree if I have time etc like to cook with real food but if the camp is about walking or way out then weight means lightweight food, makes it interesting as well, all the best Pat
I really enjoy your vids Pat - I've recently started wild camping again after many years off and you've really inspired me. I'm stuck for time and can't usually leave the house till 8.30pm on a Saturday, for 1 night's camping; so i'm tending to camp quite close to home (within an hours drive) with a short walk to our chosen spot. I've got a gammy leg following a really bad leg injury 16 yrs ago and my mate has a pacemaker, so we can't do what we could 30 yrs ago in our 20's; but we really have fun. Keep the vids coming Pat, they're really good - thanks
Hi Andy it's just great that you back out camping with your mate. Does,t matter how far or for how long as long as your back out enjoying yourself a, a ll the best Pat
@@patrickdickinson6492 thanks for replying Pat - i went out just after Xmas and had a good time - i bought a trangia 27 kit last week and have tried it at home but not in the field yet but reckon it'll be great i love how much emphasis you put on cooking whilst camping - ive always enjoyed outdoors cooking and my mate and i set off for a fry up in the countryside every few weeks all year round
Really enjoy pats videos. Been looking forward to a new one for weeks. This looked like a great spot . I was in Sheffield on Sunday and might have passed it . Til the next one best wishes jack
There's nothing like camping in the snow. Very enjoyable as long as you have an uplifting book and plenty of power in your head-torch. Way t' go Pat! Two gas stoves and an electric double oven... You put the broccoli in way too soon. :O) Blooming good meal though. Well done that man!
Thanks for the comments, yes agree camping in the snow is a real adventure Luckly led lighting seems to last forever now, yeah broccoli was a bit over one, all the best Pat
Hi Sandy so many jobs to do apart from working on my sons car the last couple of months just disappeared. Also working on a new " Camping project" for later in year. Hope all is well with you thanks Pat
Nice one Pat a little something different to camping on the hill..take my hat off to you with all that cooking & snap you put away, your'e pack must weigh a ton.good to see you back out camping anyway pal & hope to see many more soon.tfs & atb..Andy.
Hi Andy walked past this spot many times, never knew it was there as it was a climb down, may try it in summer should be nice with the little stream, all the best to you, Pat
Still catching up on your back catalogue Pat. I could almost smell the food on this one. I’m partial to a bit of butter in my mash though, and i might have exchanged a couple of rashes of your bacon for a sausage and bit of black pudding. Now I’m feeling hungry at the thought! Great edutainment Pat.
You carry more stuff than I do car camping! Full size frying pan with handle, tins of mushrooms, potatoes, 2 burners, another pot, an insulated mug, potato masher even a hot water bottle! I may have missed it in the vid but what was in the other bag? It was an overnight camp, how far did you walk? As I've got older I just can't carry the weight I used to, I've gradually replaced my old, heavy kit with much lighter stuff so I'm now carrying less than half the weight of my original stuff. I can now walk further, stay out longer and I now spend my time enjoying the scenery rather than looking down at the ground struggling under the weight. To save weight ditch the waterbottle, you can put hot water in your Nalgene bottle wrap it in a fleece it works the same. If you're cold at night look at you sleep system, you might need a mat with a greater R rating than the one you're using, a warmer bag or wear better insulation in your bag. One thing though about the Sawyer filter. Be careful not to let it freeze, as the water freezes inside it expands and may damage the filter. Sawyer say they have no evidence to say it will harm the filter they also admit they have no evidence to say it won't...they suggest you replace the filter if it has been frozen. Keep it in your sleeping bag overnight and I tend to keep mine in an inside pocket.
slippery999 hi and thanks for your interstitial comments, this camp was just for the fun of camping and cooking I only walked about 3 miles from . home I camp just for the fun of it, sometimes will walk many miles and take lightweight bivvying kit and my own dehydrated food, very lightweight and I can cover 15 to 20 miles. Other times I camp local just for enjoyment of being out.My black rucksack was full of camera gear can weight up to 5 kg but I enjoy the filming side of things. Yes I can see you have to protect your Sawyer filter against freezing, thanks for your interstitial comments, Pat
Wow. Awesome. Happy new year Pat. That was a dinner and breakfast for a camping King that's you. That cooking is better than I do at home. Don't know how you stay warm, but you do. You can get neoprene covers for those gas canisters but an expert like you would know. I am really looking forward to your next video. Where will you take us next? You be careful out there sir Pat.
blackydon Hi and thanks for kind comments, did not know about covers worth a try or I stick to my liquid fuel Whisperlite in cold conditions. The cooking side always love doing and the eating as well. Got a few interesting camping ideas for later in Spring, all the best Pat
Fantastic video, Mr Dickinson. Once again your cooking and entertaining commentary left me with a feeling of both warm content and jealously of not being out in the wild myself! Love the content, keep it up!
Good to see you out there again Pat. As a Kayak camper I recall you mentioning you had bought a kayak recently. Is there a boating adventure in the future. Very interested in hearing about your choice of boat . Take care. (Hamilton, Ontario).
Nigel Dance Hi Nigel yes I did buy a kayak get out on my local canal occasionally. It's a Dagger Blackwater 10.5 ,very pleased with it it's just finding the time to get out, thanks Pat
Enjoying the videos wow that was cracking meal look really good and that breakfast was great I bet it tastes good out door cooking outside all ways tastes good I could smell the bacon from here :-) good job
David Howard Hi David yes this vidio was basically just about camp cooking and a lot of food, important part of any camp to me is cooking a nice meal, also keeps you warm at night, thanks Pat
Yeah it was a bit uncomfortable outside the tent but all the extras add up and its supposed to be lightweight camping, roll on summer then I can sit on the grass, thanks for comments Pat
Enjoyed that pat. I ended up starving lol. I love a nice woodland spot by a river. Looked ideal. You can get egg carriers for 2 eggs. Check eBay or amazon. Same as the 6 egg thing but obviously for 2 🥚 🥚. Look forward to your new ideas coming up. Good to see you back out in the soulo. Atb. Andy.
Hi Andy yep nice spot usually get as high as I can, makes for a bit more peaceful camp in the woodland. little stream was a bonus as well. working on my new camping ideas at moment, hope it works out! Can,t beat the Soulo, all the best Pat
I have never been camping ,and I’m not interested in camping but I really love your videos ,ps I live in Barlow it makes me appreciate my surroundings more ,hope to meet up with you one day Patrick when I’m out flying my falcons and owls , take care .
I had to stop the video at 15.35 and go cook something, I couldn't hold back any more. Back now, great stove, I've heard and seen a lot about them but not carried one. Can't think why now, seems an obvious no brainer, must get one. Great Vid. Lots of Fun.
@patrickdickinson6492 best wild camping channel on this platform Patrick and not just my opinion my friend. Can't wait to see you back out in action really looking forward to it mate 👍
That grub looked good, but even i cant put that much away...hats off to you.. definite hollow legs. i thought you had guests coming. i did a vid few weeks ago and cooked some Lamb chops in the snow.. cant beat em but where was the mint sauce LOL and brown/or red for the brekkie.. great little spot always enjoy your vids a pleasure to watch :) ATVB Steve
Totally feel you about January disappearing! Where did it go! Too cold here in Canada right now to winter camp (for me at least). But I’m hoping to get some good snowshoeing in and film that at least. Love the site you found!
Mate when I was in the Marines we used to carry things like eggs in water bottles, all ready cracked and out of the shells. when you needed them just poor one out. If you only want 2 eggs to take then get small bottle with large open neck. Job done. In the cold they will keep fresh for days pal.

When I were a Royal Engineer we used to nick eggs from farms, then they were really fresh when we cooked 'em for breakfast. In the cold we eat them as soon as we nicked 'em. Job done

Hey, 5 slices of bacon is a bit of luxury, you know how to live, Patrick
Incredible menu! When my mates and I went camping in the 60s, we took dried fruits, nuts, beef jerky and powdered eggs. The kind of fare that gagged the foot soldier in WWII.

Hi and thanks for comments Pat
Appreciate your time and effort your an amazing person and inspiration
Thank you so much Gary...... thanks Pat 👍
Fair play Pat. You can put it away ! Another great video for us.
Hi Richard, yes enjoyed the food on this video, a major part of any camp for me is the food and cooking it, thanks Pat
British Officers Don’t Duck hi and thanks for the kind comments, sort of makes it all worthwhile, really glad you enjoyed it, Pat

I had to stop the video at 15.35 and go cook something, I couldn't hold back any more. Back now, great stove, I've heard and seen a lot about them but not carried one. Can't think why now, seems an obvious no brainer, must get one. Great Vid. Lots of Fun.
Just seen those chops cooking again feel hungry myself they do look nice. Whisperlite stove works great no problems in cold weather at all, Pat
