After they finished testing the prototype on the USS Ponce the captain requested if they could keep it on the ship. It cost less than $1 per shot and they figured the crew could get some experience using the system. The system was operational until the ship was decommissioned 18 months later. They amount of data they got from the program was crazy as the system was used hundreds if not thousands of times. They also took the same system on a 747 and tested it. The US military was a bit more tight lipped about that operation, but it was remarked that it was successful. Rumors point to testing if the targeting system could hit a missile, possibly an ICBM, from a flying base. This was one of the ideas proposed by Reagan back in the 80s as part of his Star Wars Defense ideas to protect from Russian ICBMs. The technology was not there back then. That system was a 30kw laser. They have put a 60-90kw laser systems called Helios on a missile destroyer in 2019 and another in 2020 and they are still operational. The US is testing a Maneuver Short-Range Air Defense (M-SHORAD) with a 50kw lasers to protect troops from incoming artillery, mortars, and RPGs and likely could protect from drones and possibly take down cruise missiles, incoming missiles, and even jets. They have 3 more on order. The Air Force and Navy also have samples of this 50klw system that they are testing. The US has also order 4 mobile truck mounted lasers and 1 naval laser system for 2024 that is 300kw. 300kw would be a game changer. Say you took op 1/2 the bomb bay of B-52 with even a 150kw laser you could likely hit any SAM or AAM or even other fighter jets that came within several miles of it. What could Russia do to stop it. Literally that B-52 could fly over Russia all day and Russia could not stop it. At 150kw it could down a missile in less than a second and these things can fire back to back shots over and over. Even shooting 20 S-300 at one time would likely not touch it. An Su-35 could not get close enough to use guns and any missile they shoot would be shot down. The US and Israel (with help from the US) are the only countries with this level of laser defense likely for the next 20 years. If they could fit a 300kw system in a bomber, that is powerful enough to strike the ground from 50,000 feet. This strong of a laser should be able to do double that range or more in clear weather (Israel claims their 150kw lasers will have a range of 20km). Think of sending a B-2 with one of these 300kw systems just flying over Russia hitting ever SAM site and radar it sees., then pepper tanks with hundreds of shots until the engine or ammo cooks off... It could hit thousands of targets in just a few hours. Now currently lasers can not be used on humans according to the Geneva Convention, but this is likely to change as there is really little difference between a laser and an AP round from a rifle. It is going to punch a hole right through you and likely vaporize the flesh so fast it will not cauterize. It will be like driving a needle right through your body.

since plasma is air-like, I don’t think plasma guns are effective, since guns shoot small projectiles for good pierce and damage, but for plasma weaponry you only need plasma to heat things up as fast as possible; would be cool to see a plasma firefighting hose or something
@@tenvoichatuoi2262 yeah but concentrated plasma would be deadly. I'm pretty sure the only reason people would use blasters instead of guns is that the blaster ammo is disgustingly cheap and a standard blaster holds a lot of rounds. It might also be more deadly than a normal gun considering the fact that people die when shot once or twice with a blaster where as you need to be shot like 4 or 5 times with a normal gun to die (not to the head though obviously). A blaster also has more features like stun mode for example. Not only that but a blaster is waaaaay more accurate than a normal gun. A blaster is also more humane as you won't feel the pain of a shot for long as it will burn your pain receptors.
This is the first "publicly" known meaning they had many types of laser before hand that they didn't reveal, and more than likely have better lasers rn not shown to the public

We all got to talking about it and waited for the next news a half hour later.. Never heard anything else. Maybe somebody sent out a press release that shouldn't have, hmmm.🧐😖🤔😲
It’s no secret that the US government has been and continues to create experimental weapons even in the 80s or 90s they had a space program called pebbles it was literally giant tungsten steel rods placed in a satellite that would orbit the earth and release these massive rods onto the earth utilizing gravity as a way move the rod towards its target destination the rod was gigantic and would uproot an entire city in a matter of seconds I believe they were truly intended to be bunker busters

Technically they have, but I’m assuming most were prototypes that either A. Didn’t work well or B. We’re still upgrading it. I’m gonna assume option B. Hell just looking at the laser looks like it took a bit of tries to get it to work perfectly and even then it’s big, bulky, and on an Aircraft Carrier. But I did read that the U.S military wants to put more scaled down versions (obviously less powerful) on fighter jets.
There's a thermal or sound frequency weapon that causes the enemy to run away. Back since it was released in the Iraq War. That was public information.
I still think that no matter how serious the matter is, humans would always find a way to make it fun. I mean years of research to build a multimillion weapon just to control it with an Xbox controller ?
Yeah they realized, that soldiers are already familiar with this kind of controller, so it is way more intuitive than self developed controlling devices.
Yeah so they can get all the ps4. Xbox players that play war games into the military to fight real battles, that is probably their plan to recruit people into the military.
@@virginmobilemail It has been the plan for years. The military has been working with game developers for years to help with recruiting. If I'm not mistaken SOCOM was one of the first of these type of games bringing about gamez like COD.

Plasma =/= light
since plasma is air-like, I don’t think plasma guns are effective, since guns shoot small projectiles for good pierce and damage, but for plasma weaponry you only need plasma to heat things up as fast as possible; would be cool to see a plasma firefighting hose or something

Yeah so they can get all the ps4. Xbox players that play war games into the military to fight real battles, that is probably their plan to recruit people into the military.
