      Just from the eye test the team didn’t have the same explosive dynamic of last season. They mostly played flat uninspired ball all year and crashed at the end of the season when they needed it the most. Sure Monks injury played a part but there is no way they should have missed the playoffs. I don’t care what Giannis said, this season was a failure.

    Bobby is right. West is extremely difficult to rebuild in and new cba will make it impossible to have sustained success. Kings have a good core with fox and sabonis. Develop Murray into consistent third option, keep monk on a 4 year deal, get Cody williams in the draft, give Mike his extension, and call it an off season. Swing for the fences like Milwaukee did and see what happens

    Changing the mentality will be important too. Last year, the vibes were great and everyone was positive. They exceeded expectations. This year, they weren't able to maintain the positive energy level throughout the season, and even though their record was similar, they failed to reach expectations. They need one or two new, impactful players (maybe one new starter and one off the bench) to help regain that excitement, optimism, and sense of fun. A solid power forward who can defend, pass, and rebound would help a lot. Murray can play at the 3. If they lose Monk in free agency, they will need to bring in a serious scoring option for the bench. Perhaps Vezenkov could help with that next year, if he can adjust to the NBA style of play.

    Not having enough depth was the reason they fell into the play-in and ended up not making the playoffs. Losing in 7 at home makes this flat szn feel worse. But the kings need to be high alert, grizzlies and the rockets are making the playoffs. GSW and one other top 10 team in the west will fall. Could be the kings if they don’t increase their bench depth

    • @CwFelly
      @CwFelly Месяц назад +1

      No way Kings fall with their core players going to be 28/27/24 next year. They need to make a few moves, but the regress candidates next year in the West are GSW, Suns, Clipper, and Lakers due to their age.

    The kings incredible over-reliance on throwing up 3s, especially in the 4th caused them to blow historic amount of double-digit leads.

      Kings defense already improved last year by jumping up to 16 overall and that was only with the last few months of Keon Ellis. Once he was in the starting lineup I believe we jumped into the top 10 and Fox lead the league in steals. Murray also took a huge jump defensively. Ideally we need a rim protector who can also shoot the 3 to either play with Sabonis or come off the bench.

    You didn’t mention the mid-level or bi- annual exception? What are the chances Jalen smith opts out and getting him with either exception? So basically they are in position to run it back potentially without monk. But with the 13th pick and relying on internal improvement with Murray. Doesn’t sound too promising but I’ll still be praying. I think Fox still has one more gear he can reach. He needs to up his aggressiveness and mentality. Not giving Mike Brown an extension this year was the right move. He might not be the right coach to get the most out of Fox and Sabonis. He doesn’t seem like a great motivational coach. Can’t stand his stubbornness and lack of making adjustments. He let the pelicans beat them 6x without coming in with a different game plan. Kessler edwards and Javale McGee might of helped negate some of new Orlean’s length. Not to mention him refusing to even try starting monk. The offense sputtered at times this season and that’s where bringing a guy like Terrance Davis back could have helped. Instead they signed Javale McGee to not even play. If Monk doesn’t resign we are in trouble. Giving up the pick to ATL might have been better. It would have freed up future 1st rd picks to make an all-in trade if an impact player became available. Now because of all the protections on the ATL pick their hands are tied even in trades.

    Traded "light the beam" energy and the top offense in NBA history for a fantasy D "physicality" with no rim defender. BROWN????? He killed the best offense in HISTORY.

      Mike Brown gets a lot of passes around here because he helped end the 17 year playoff drought but he is not the right coach. He is like the Warrior’s Mark Jackson. Good for setting the foundation but need someone else to take it to the next level.

    How do you say kings took a step back???? I get annoyed when kings fans say that. They had injuries this season and that was the issue! We only had two more losses from last season with injury’s. That’s not bad! Teams have improved since last season .I agree they had some inconsistencies and Kevin’s numbers were down compared to last. The injury to Kevin and then to monk, it was over. I said at the last game we played to the Celtics on the 5th. We would only have two wins vs nets and Portland. We would lose in the play-in and we did! If we were fully healthy, then you can say we took a step back! Come on! Murray improved from last season and it’s only his second season. Give him time!

    Trade for De Rosan for shooting guard & get a big, tall guy as back up for Sabonis! Keep Barnes for reserve unit! Trade Davion Mitchell & Kevin Huerter reinforce the second unit!
