Unfortunately it's currently not useful for that..., but Movcam is working on some improvements, so maybe we will see a better version which can be fully useful on steadicam. The main reason for developing the Roll Rig was not to be used on a steadicam, but rather to have a lightweight system, which can provide optically centered unlimited roll on a wide variety of systems, as it can be easily mounted on any stabilized head, stedicam, tripod head,... But a lot of people saw the opportunity to have very cheap substitute for Omega or Cyclo and the demand to use it on a steadicam has raised. So as I tried to explain in this video, there are some special shots where it can help a lot, and you can do amazing things without an expensive system, but the horizon stabilization while tracking an object is still not good enough to be used in a professional environment.
Thank you. This is useful information. I was interested in it but really as a level horizon. It’s a shame.
Any updates? Interested in this as a horizon leveller. Thank you.
NOT useful for stabilising horizons? I thought this was the whole point of the system. 🙁
