A Steadicam has two arm sections with? Not this one! The big G70 has the X3 3rd section, but I thought I'd put one together for smaller Steadicam rigs using a A30 and Zephyr arms! Here's what it looks like and a bit of what it can do.

It looks like the middle section is "locking up", John. It could be to do with orientation or twist, or a combination. The same thing happened to master arms when back mounted.

It was yes, that was the section I added, so presumably most prone to twist or adverse pressure. I might swap the sections around and see if it still happens.

    Does a third arm increase the payload capability? A30 Arm = 30lbs ...A30 + another arm = 45lbs?

Well the way you put it does make sense, although I think the limit is per section, so if one is rated to 30lbs that’s still the total capacity for multiples of the same.

Hi John, we would like to use a Sony Fs7 on a Zephyr and i see you power your Sony through the Lemo-XLR cable on the XDCA. Is this a original Tiffencable ( 0B 3-Pin (male) Lemo to 4-Pin XLR (female)? Or maybe Alvins or Ignite cable? I find the Tiffen site not always as clear in the supplied information.

Yes it's the original cable. A cheap multimeter will end all your worries about pin-outs!

Nice..! I wonder if shorter ISO arm sections, (if there is such a thing) would 'get in the way' less....? 🤔

There is not such a thing, so I opt for the usual two sections most often.

I'm just curious if you feel 10kg package is small? (beginning my journey in steadicam stuff - I plan to fly max 10-12KG cameras as i shoot my own art projects)

Not sure how to answer your question. Best to do a Steadicam Workshop to try out different rigs, learn the basics and understand all the options for what you want to do. flysteadicam.tiffen.com
