  • I couldn't find a video where someone would explain how to do it in a high-rise (without access to outside), so I just made the video.
Huge thanks to Anthony Robinson for the part number!
What's used in 20 Newport Pkwy and 1 Shore Lane is: Truth Hardware 9-1/2" Rear Mount Left Hand Casement Window Operator With Pivot Shoe.
When ordering the part, it is very important to get the size right (9 1/2) and to get the options right (Rear Mount, Left Hand, With Pivot Shoe), otherwise it just won't fit, of course.

Thanks for this video Gene! This is the EXACT problem I have and this is the only video I could find that even comes close to showing how to fix it. Unfortunately it’s tricky…working almost blind from the inside with tiny screws and gravity working against you.

Great video. I have problem with crank, but shoe is ok. Do you know if the shoe be replaced, rather than the entire crank assembly?

@@tianranwang6732 I replaced entire assembly. It was fairly easy since I had access to balcony outside the window.

Yeah, I am pretty sure that three hours of your time are worth more than buying an extra part. When you buy the whole crank kit, you at least know that its parts are compatible

my question is.... should this be done by the condo management since this is "OUTSIDE" your unit? lol

my management said that because the handle is inside, it is inside the unit and my responsibility. Tried to charge me $150 per window; I have 2.

The part is: Truth Hardware 9-1/2" Rear Mount Left Hand Casement Window Operator With Pivot Shoe.
For example, you can buy it here:
    www.reflectwindow.com/products/truth-hardware-9-1-2-rear-mount-left-hand-casement-window-operator-with-pivot-shoe-white
(I bought mine from OGS, when they were running a promotion).
