    The only version for me. The passion, the tempo, synergy of the Three. Life-enhancing, and a comfort to me since I was 7 years old.

    When I bought this LP record, Jackie was a star in EMI, and she made a new LP almost in every month. Only comparable was Karajan. She had ten years of professional career at this record selling, while Barenboim and Zukerman were almost new comers. As for the sound, everything is bright and fresh. Every time I listen to this trio, I remember “Splendor in the Grass” which was directed by Elia Kazan and premiered in 1961. The third movement, especially the last 22 bars, is so nice. I feel like two lovers are talking each other on the background of the sunset lake. Barenboim's piano is impressive as if expressing the sparkling lake surface at sunset, isn't it? It was the year when I entered university, a long long time ago.

    베토벤 3대 현4중 하나인 대공이라는 제목도 그러하지만 무엇보다도 썸네일의 세 청년재사들의 이 표정이 항상 너무 좋다, 아니, 너무 부럽다. 56년 모스크바에서 녹음된 전성기 40대의 세 거장 (망명전) 로스트로포비치 길렐스 코간의 녹음에 못지않은 60말 70초 클래식 씬의 기린아들의 합주. 곧 다가올 뮤즈 그녀의 비극을 잠시나마 잊게 해주는 담담한 몰입감이, 그래서 그 기억의 신파를 막아 준다.

    Beethoven was at the piano when this was given its first public performance. He could not hear the other players and struggled to keep in time. During the Andante he stood up and left, never to perform in public again.

    What kind of brain must a guy have to produce something like this? And painstakingly write it down for us 200 yrs and on into the future.

      @johnblack8036 7 лет назад +16

      That's funny you say that because I wonder that every time I listen to his string quartets. The late ones in particular. Some of them sound completely modern. His chamber works are really where you see his compositonal genius. He came up with an entirely new style. He wasn't copying anyone. Sure he learned from Mozart and Haydn, but he took it to another realm. Beethoven's music is timeless and will be relevant for hundreds of years.

    but why is it so long ? Are these 5 movements. The earlier ones are meticulous , hearty full of good tunes and great developments . The slow movement here seemed variations . I'm sure it will become a favorite one day. The best music isn't always beloved initially. Frankck' big piano masterworks took years while the violin sonata came easily.Shostakovich trio could last a lifetime and it would still not be a chore.
