WOW! I had never known of these pieces! I had only thought Liszt wrote a few Nocturnes but to my surprise "My Darling" is a Nocturne! Hooray! Another one to add to list of pieces I hope to learn someday. This whole suite is fantastic. Thank you Liszt for blessing us once again! Arrau did a great job here too. A pianist becomes so inspired listening to fantastic performances like this. I must keep going
This is Chopin's music, you clown. This is Liszt arranging another composer's music. How can you not recognize between Chopin & Liszt's music? Chopin is elegant, dramatic & refined. Liszt is flamboyant, intense & unnecessarily acrobatic, (Particularly in his younger years). This music has Chopin stamped all over it.
@@jessevallejo8797 Liszt wrote plenty of music that is "elegant, dramatic & refined." And his transcriptions of these songs are a marvel, full of invention and yet entirely in the spirit of the voice/piano originals.
@@nilskroehl It is possible that he knew the German language but those songs were originally written in Polish and then probably translated so that other singers could also perform them.
Beautiful recording of Arrau

@@jessevallejo8797 Be nice, you clown.
@@jessevallejo8797 No need to throw insults around. And liszts music is wonderful, you are just biased towards a composer that is easier to understand

I'm confused. Liszt arranged this from songs by Chopin?
Yes, chopin wrote 19 songs op 74. Liszt arranged 6 of them for piano
That means Chopin wrote songs with words in his life.
Chopin knew german??

That is it. Composed on original polish poems, with one only exception. The songs were composed sparsely during a spam of twenty years.
i thought the second was by Mendelssohn
Mendelssohn did write a spring song, but it's unrelated to this one
