Matt, I’m assuming you’ve heard this 1,000 times, but SR2 is a billion times better than SR1. It truly is my favorite game of all time.
So many of the issues that plagued the original are gone, and it’s where the series truly becomes classic. The no checkpoint system, the lack of customization options, the broken respect meter, lack of voice acting and lines from the Boss (you can’t even pick to be a woman), and the abrupt ending, all gone and replaced with some of the best story, gameplay, soundtrack, voice acting, and open sandbox features in any game ever made.

2:19:26 is my favorite part in the entirety of Saints Row 1. Johnny's reaction to it always had me bawling of laughter, this time Matto and Johnny with the same reaction. Priceless
An hour and 20 minutes in and it doesn't seem like Matto has discovered that you can warp into the drivers seat of cars with no animation by just jumping on the hood and hitting the "jack car" button. One of my favorite features from this game and SR2, tbh!

its pretty sad that Saints Row in 2006 has a better way to heal yourself then in GTA Online in 2022 where you need to go through random menu's and be up against a wall in order to heal yourself

Ah yes the game franchise that was largely written off as a GTA clone and then Volition tried to go all in on making it feel distinct from Grand Theft Auto with it’s fourth installment and they took it a little too far.
And later GTA Online got very 'inspired' by that. x3

I’d say so. It’s the perfect blend of silly and serious, where 3 tries a bit too hard to be funny and goofy. 4 succeeds because it just embraces how absurd it is and goes to 11, but SR2 is the series reaching the perfect middle imo

One is to progress in the game, the other one is meant to be torturous and not fun so you spend money on shark cards
It's more forgivable when it's not intentionally designed to be boring to get you to spend real money to progress...

Absolutely loved Saints Row 2. And even though 3 and 4 deviated so much from the established (and in my opinion, better) formula, they were still fun nonetheless.
Never got to check out the first game because of its console exclusivity, so I'm really curious to see where it all started! Now I know what to binge the next few days :)
exactly, being a black sheep in the saga of games is a thing and being a bad game is another, the same thing can be said on the Metal Gear franchise some of those games are thought of being bad, I played some of them, they're fun nonetheless.
and if hes not played saints row 2 yet he should play on the series X because PC port even with mods isn't the best although pc rerelease is still being worked on. only bad part about backwards compatible xbox saints row 2 is that the prologue has major frame drops during the boat

Idk man 3 is pretty much the same as 2 and 1 just with a purple filter on and Emotes, but at it's core it's pretty much the same thing... Yeah the futuristic police is a bit much but that's it, 4... 4 is fun but yeah it's way different than the other 3 games and let's not talk about the hell one

I have been playing this game since 2006 at the time this game was ahead of its time with the amount of character customizations and this video brings back alot of good memories

But seriously: I'd like to see him play that game too because I think it's the best out of the whole series. It has everything that has made SR1 good, a lot of own ideas, and way fewer of the flaws.
Although the PC Port is a rather infamous one. Even though i used the Gentleman of the Row mod which solve some of the issue, i feel like a lot of lag in the game. I think it's best to play Saints Row 2 on Xbox, because you can get to play the DLCs as well.

SR1 is a great game for its age, but SR2 is a far better game in every way. Though you still need activities to do missions there's more choices and they're actually fun to play through plus you get rewards for doing them (Weapons, more hp, faster reign, ect). Whenever you do play it I hope you love it Matt.
yes. but if you do enough of activities. to get your bar to 99... it turns to ♾️ (infinite) and never goes down. not only that. getting the bonuses from doing the acrivities helps alot. especially from completing the Septic Avenger activities
saints row 2 is a beast
You get rewards for completing activities in SR1, just that they're different skins for weapons, and you unlock certain homies and vehicles.
@@XerouEffect13 The Snatch and Escort missions can actually net you some real good rewards, like the GAL 43, infinite SMG reserves, and the Kobra with infinite pistol reserves, you're basically set for the rest of the game if you fully complete most of the activities.

By the time that i knew Matt was playing SR, i was playing SR2 on my console, I didn't keep up with the streams at the time, so i waited a long time, in this long time i had the opportunity to play SR3 and 4, i'm 2 quests away from ending SR4's campaign, Saints Row became one of my most favorite franchises, and that made me be even more hyped for this video, seeing my favorite streamer play one of my favorite games its just fantastic 😁

19:45 Simple tip for controller, use your index finger sideways to press buttons on the right side of the controller so you can use the joystick at the same time. I believe there is a specific method of playing competitive games using this "claw" thing. Might make your fingers hurt after a long time but it makes it easier.

The way I actually play from memory is have my left palm control the left stick while aiming with my left thumb on the right stick and shooting with my right hand.

You should definitely try Saints Row 2 , they have downgraded few things like the graphics, npc's , Npc clothing physics , combat system etc . But there are more surprises you would never expect from a video game from that time period .
They thoroughly upgraded the game tho when they added the Cockney voice for the Playa

The new one looks like Saints Row the third: part three. As someone who thinks SR3 is bland, SR4 is a betrayal, and GOOH was strange it’s most definitely not for me.

Definitely play sr1 if you get the chance. It shows it's age but the characters and missions are fun
@@frankuraku5622 Oh no I use that mod but it's still not exactly what you'd call a smooth and modern gaming experience. And that's coming from a guy who plays games from the late 90s. I'm probably messing something up though.
I have a strong feeling that you never learned to used handle brake and that is partially why you suffer so much, handlebrakes are really op in turns
I played this on release day 2006, so I had a much different experience. At that time this game was mind-blowing. I invested an embarrassing amount of time in it and loved every second. Then Saints Row 2 came along and took it to the next level. Prepare yourself.
