this was very similar to my experience watching the full 500 (from TV) it was the first time i had watched a full NASCAR race in over 10 years, maybe even ever. it was great! and NASCAR has quickly became my favorite sport ever and one of my favorite things of all time. and this video basically expresses exactly what i felt when the race went on.
I live near Daytona in Orlando,Florida and have been to the races. Your video is the best representation and story about Daytona 500 I have ever seen. What an AMAZING video! You really nailed it. As you have witnessed , NASCAR is very professional from drivers down to event employees. 200,000 visitors and everything organized and running smoothly. You captured it all. Thank you
I’m 59, a hardcore mortorsports fan, from NASCAR to F1 and I gotta tell ya this was one of the best videos I’ve ever seen covering any Motorsport at anytime. Loved this, you did well.
In 2012 my dad and I went to Daytona 500. Sunday was rained out, so we came back on Monday. That was the race where Juan Pablo Montoya crashed into a jet dryer and had a big fire. I was on the back stretch where it happened. Im glad you got to experience that.
We were in the stands for the start of that race, but had to leave the next morning to catch our flight with the delay. Watched the start at the airport. Landed in Detroit three hours later and Montoya had just hit the dryer. Drove two hour home and watched the end of the race! Weird.
I’m a diehard nascar fan and tries to watch every race and I thought it was cool. And for the casual fans it’s a really detailed video and explanation about how the Daytona 500 works
What a great video!!’ Never took a look at NASCAR but you covered it very well and showed all the different sides so well. Unbelievable fan engagement in nascar. The fans can even walk the track and get close to the drivers and buy a ticket that puts you beside the mechanics.
The engagement is honestly nuts. I went to Atlanta motor speedway last year and on the way to my seats just walked right past Richard Petty, the all time highest winner and legend of the sport (200 wins), and who "the king" in Cars was based off of. 7 time champ, just right there. I waved and said hi and he waved back.
F1 could learn SO much from NASCAR when it comes to fan interactions. It's really quite sad because F1 is so interesting as a sport but FOM and Liberty Media make it incredibly INaccessible to fans, whereas NASCAR realized long ago that the best way to promote the races is to let the fans get as close as possible to the action, both physically and virtually.
I'm really glad that people like you are showing how difficult Nascar actually is. Most people don't understand that and they just put stereotypes on the sport. Thank you
Excellent job doing the video I've been going to both Daytona races each year since 1965, missing only a couple of races when i was in Vietnam. My Son is on the #48 Chevrolet Team for Hendrick Motorsports
Very cool 😎 👌, I wish you and your boy the best of year's together, I love watching 👀 my children and grandchild attain success!..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 👋🤠
The passion with which you describe everything is amazing! Not a Nascar fan but this has made attending the Daytona 500 another bullet on my bucket list. How does this video not have like 500k views at this point. RUclips algorithm do your thing!
I have never attended a Cup race, but where I am, we have a track called The Milwaukee Mile..and the Truck series and Nationwide series (before it was Nationwide. The name escapes me at the moment..I think it was Busch) raced here every year. Recently they returned after a long hiatus (plus some shady things by the track promoter) and I plan on going again, as I used to go every year. Now, I have been to other sporting events and venues but I will say this...with the Nascar circuit, it is just plain different. I does not matter who your favorite driver is, or where you come from, Nascar fans are more of a community, then fans of say something like baseball or football.
Oh dude the radio at the race is a must. You said it was quite boring well that’s how you make it much more fun the entire race because you can also listen to the radio broadcast the headphones also help with the noise So yes once you have that radio it really isn’t ever boring cause you can really follow it and the mrn radio guys are very good
As a person who is apart of a family of nascar fans including myself, I want to thank you for making this video for people who are looking at this sport from the outside in. Us, the Nascar fans are extremely passionate for our favorite drivers. For a lot of us going to see these races is a family tradition, or even a gathering of friends who haven't seen in awhile. Everyone no matter where they are from, or their skin color everyone is welcomed here's. It is a complete other culture that you see at theses events. Even though we as fans don't know each other but when we all come together to watch nascar in person we are a family. I have personally have gone to three nascar races and I can genuinely tell anyone that on the day of the race I am at my most happiness tailgating and waiting to be let into the grandstands. If you do decide to come see another race here in America I suggest going to these two races. 1. Bristol. Specifically the Bristol night race. The night race is one of the only two races scheduled in nascar that happens at night. The race track is one of the oldest tracks that nascar still races on. It is known for the crashes, the drama, and the fights that happen there. 2. The Coca-Cola 600 in Charlotte motor speedway. This race other race on nascar that happens at night. This race is also the longest race that happens in nascar. It is 600 miles and 400 laps. The length for Europeans who see this comment is 2.5 km. This race is the only one that has four stages. Each stage is 100 hundred laps. This race happens in memorial day weekend for America and lines up with the Monaco Grand Prix, and for F1 The Indy 500. Even the race happens on Sunday, the actual partying starts a week before with the all star race. The all star is a race that happens always on the weekend before memorial day weekend. This specific race is also a night race and isn't about getting competition point, its more about bragging rights and 1 million dollars. The all star race events begins in the evening at 6pm where the first race happens. That race is the all star opening which is for some the others driver is their last chance to qualify for the main race. The main all star race consists of 21 drivers who are seen as the best in nascar. The atmosphere during this race is different from any other race parties held by nascar.
dale earnhardt sr was one of the most aggressive drivers but one of the most kind hearted men he won the week after aryton senna died and was visibly shaken in the post race interview and said "i would've placed second inn an instant if it would bring him back"
Great video! I was at this race myself, my first ever NASCAR race. and I totally understand what you mean by the noise. You feel it in your core, it vibrates your soul and gets you emotional. I can’t describe it any better
Hey its cool to see a Europeans view on a motorsport hes a part of definitely subscribed because thats so much detail in a video covering an entire weekend of racing
As an American who loves f1 and doesn’t watch nascar I always knew that going in an oval wasn’t as easy as it looks on tv but I had no idea that for the drivers it a terrifying experience just being on the track alone. I had no idea about all this depth in nascar and maybe I might try it outs.
I’m obsessed with Formula 1 but this video opened my eyes to NASCAR, turned on the TV and watched a race, and they were taking corners!! At least I think it was NASCAR sure looked like it. Now I’m doing research to find a team to root for! Looks like I’m gonna binge watch nascar history on RUclips to find my place. Thank you for this video, definitely sending the link to my friends. Thanks to you nascar gained a fan and hopefully a few more! Again, what a great video very well done. Sorry in advance my English isn’t the best we are Italian.
NASCAR has 4 or 5 "traditional circuits" on their schedule. A tip from a life long fan, you are absolutely welcome to cheer for a team, but most fans cheer for an individual driver or drivers. NASCAR is very different to F1 when it comes to teams. in NASCAR once the race starts it is pretty much every man (or woman) for themselves, it is VERY rare to hear any sort of team orders.
You should really do one of these for NHRA Drag Racing as well. It is another completely different experience of horsepower. I think you would love it.
This is an incredible video, Now you gotta do one for the INDY 500. Also gotta love the probably unknown cameo from a few of the faces of NASCAR RUclipsrs at 29:35
Thanks for making this wonderful video. I really enjoyed it. It reminds me of why I loved NASCAR. I was really struck by your reaction to the pre-race rituals, especially the national anthem and the flyover. As an American, I never realized that other countries don't have that. The fact that the national anthem is played at every sporting event from the high school level up really serves to remind us where we came from. Every stops and listens, and for that moment everyone is together. Its something really special.
90s were amazing, but you shouldn't stop supporting Nascar just because you feel like "your era" is over. I started watching in 79 and I felt the same when restrictor plates were introduced. But I kept supporting the sport because it is made up of good people with good intentions!
hey you probably aren't going to see this but its worth a shot. If you ever come back to America go to the Knoxville sprint car nationals it's insane. Good video btw loved it and the part where people held up the 3 and you showed respect to dale made me tear up a little bit lol.
This was so well produced I am baffled. I've always watched NASCAR try to get explained to those who aren't familiar with it and it just never gets communicated right. This. This right here. Is now the video I will tell people to watch. You did a fantastic job, thank you for this!
The idea of NASCAR and stock car racing in general was invented in North Carolina from moonshiners running from the law but saw its rise to fame after the races in Daytona. Thanks for the in-depth review of NASCAR from a outsiders perspective.
I was at the Daytona 500 this year. Got to be right next to the stage during driver introductions. Amazing track amazing fans amazing times. Welcome to nascar. Amazing sport.
I've never been to the Daytona 500, but I watch it almost every year and I have been to America's (and the world's) other biggest race, the Indianapolis 500. 300,000 people in and around another enormous superspeedway, similar or even higher levels of pomp and festivity. I've always wanted to go to the Daytona 500 as well, and if you ever get the chance you should see the Indy 500 too.
I'm so glad you loved your experience here in our country, F1 may not be my favorite but I do actually some what enjoy it but yes nascar is so so SO much more than just a left turn only kind of race. KEEP IT UP MAN hopefully you come back for some more races 😎💯
I am truly amazed and envious of the pageantry you were able to capture and decipher for the world to see! I knew everything you covered beforehand, but the joy it brought to you to experience something with such raw excitement made me feel like I was learning something new with you. There are so many tracks in NASCAR with rich history and I hope you have many more opportunities to get to other NASCAR races! Incredible video!!
Lifelong NASCAR fan here, great video and representation of the sport. You just did a better job selling the experience of a race weekend better than NASCAR does most days. 😆
I loved this! I'm a longtime NASCAR fan, so it's so refreshing to hear a European driver's take on racing in the US (I only recently got into F1). Heck, you taught me things that I didn't even know (or have changed since I last visited the pits. Never been fortunate enough to go to Daytona, but I've been to a few Cup and Xfinity races at New Hampshire Motor Speedway). I guess we take the size of our cars, etc. for granted as well, haha! Anyway, thanks for putting this together Alberto! I'm loving your other content and am looking forward to more in the future!
I’m sure lots of people mentioned it, but the trucks are called the Craftsman truck series again. Besides that, this was awesome! I went to Daytona for a tour last year. Hoping to see a race there one day.
I just saw my first NASCAR race at Charlotte. Unbelievable!! The visceral feeling in my body was incredible. I am now a fan!!! I wish I'd seen this video before the race. God Bless NASCAR!!
Bro…you did a great job…I hope you get an ambassordship with nascar..you represented your experience well…it’s not F1..but it’s our own thing…thanks for being here
see this is the type of car culture and enthusiast i like. instead of just going along with the norm of hating on nascar he took the time to dive deep into it all and was suprised from what he learned. i will say i never was into nascar but i also had no idea how deep it went. i love that we can come together all enjoy motor sports. at the end of the day we all are here because we love cars everyone has different preferences but we all can sit down and just kick it talking passionately about we love.
This is a great video. I was there this year as well. It's awesome seeing it through the eyes of someone who isn't used to it and is genuinely intrigued and interested in everything they're seeing. Thank you for the great watch
AMAZING!....I love that not only you're a very good driver, but your love for racing and what it means to you and others is captured perfectly in this video. Great job and please keep being you.
I used to be part of the crowd thinking that Nascar was so easy because its just turning left. Then I did research and started to see how tough it really was. the strategy for tires and the drafting as well as the amount of looseness each driver wants really allowed me to gain respect and enjoy the sport. It is just a different kind of racing that is just as tough as anything else.
You should really come and experience the Greatest Spectacle in Racing, the Indianapolis 500. This year, in less than a month will be the 107th running of the race. It is a tradition, a race, a *_MONTH_* of racing! We would love to have you come and check it out!
Fun fact: Before NASCAR, Daytona Beach was where people would go to set land speed records. So the beach was actually legendary in the motorsports world even before NASCAR came along
As someone who has been a die-hard fan since the ripe old age of 3, and someone who did the same thing you did last year, (just without the pit lane pass), this was incredibly in-depth and really did a great job explaining the sport and how it is run to an audience that the experience is foreign to. Great video!
Wasn’t expecting a nascar feels trip this morning but wow, what an incredible video. I really appreciated you displaying the non race related parts of nascar that make it so special. The fly over, the national anthem, the camping, all of it is what makes us love the sport so much. It’s so much more than just turning left and this video was such a great display of that.

I’m a Daytona employee who lives for these races, and you have me already excited for the next Daytona Speedweeks and Daytona 500!
As a fan i love this video, not only did you talk about the history of the sport and race but also go in depth on whets going in the weekend
this was very similar to my experience watching the full 500 (from TV) it was the first time i had watched a full NASCAR race in over 10 years, maybe even ever. it was great! and NASCAR has quickly became my favorite sport ever and one of my favorite things of all time. and this video basically expresses exactly what i felt when the race went on.
So cool! I love this sport so much and I’m thrilled that you were able to enjoy it!
After this experience I got incredibly captured!
I'm really glad that people like you are showing how difficult Nascar actually is. Most people don't understand that and they just put stereotypes on the sport. Thank you
Thank you Alberto! So nice to have insight of Daytona 500 from European perspective, keep it going!😎 Greetings from Finland! 🏁
Excellent job doing the video
I've been going to both Daytona races each year since 1965, missing only a couple of races when i was in Vietnam. My Son is on the #48 Chevrolet Team for Hendrick Motorsports
Very cool 😎 👌, I wish you and your boy the best of year's together, I love watching 👀 my children and grandchild attain success!..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 👋🤠
Alex Bowman?
so what im getting is Alberto is gonna try and qualify next year on the 500!! fingers Crossed.
Glad you enjoyed it!!! Welcome to the love of the land of the free.
The passion with which you describe everything is amazing! Not a Nascar fan but this has made attending the Daytona 500 another bullet on my bucket list. How does this video not have like 500k views at this point. RUclips algorithm do your thing!
Rain tires are used in NASCAR for some short tracks and for road and street races. Chicago Street race is an excellent example.
It makes me really proud to be an American when millions of us all stop and hold our hands over our hearts and salutes
By far the best nascar video I’ve ever seen!
It doesn't matter if it's the more expensive things or common, I enjoy seeing the best of their craft work the magic.
You should go to the Indy 500 and then you’d get to interview Conor Daly all over again 😂
Great videos Alberto!
I wish I would have went to road America when they were here
Oh dude the radio at the race is a must. You said it was quite boring well that’s how you make it much more fun the entire race because you can also listen to the radio broadcast the headphones also help with the noise
So yes once you have that radio it really isn’t ever boring cause you can really follow it and the mrn radio guys are very good
As a person who is apart of a family of nascar fans including myself, I want to thank you for making this video for people who are looking at this sport from the outside in.
The atmosphere during this race is different from any other race parties held by nascar.
dale earnhardt sr was one of the most aggressive drivers but one of the most kind hearted men
he won the week after aryton senna died and was visibly shaken in the post race interview and said "i would've placed second inn an instant if it would bring him back"
Great video! I was at this race myself, my first ever NASCAR race. and I totally understand what you mean by the noise. You feel it in your core, it vibrates your soul and gets you emotional. I can’t describe it any better
You should do a weekend at the Indy 500. That is one hell of a weekend as well!
I live in Florida and never been to a Nascar race. but this is touching from an outsiders perspective.
28:20 seeing that guy rocking the Cannibal Corpse shirt going nuts was awesome lol
How come a Italian guy make the best documentary of NASCAR that ive ever seen?! 🎉 truly a marvel, so mu h that i have learned.
Awesome video! Glad you loved the experience! I've never been to Daytona but maybe someday!
Thank you! You must go once in your life 😃
I was actually at this race.
Up on the lowest end of the stands going into turn 1.
Was a lot of fun as well.
It’s crazy seeing the cup garage looks with all the cup stuff in it vs when I raced the 14 hour race at the 1st of this month
@nickb2049 superspeedways the "team's" matter. But yes you are correct!
You should really do one of these for NHRA Drag Racing as well. It is another completely different experience of horsepower. I think you would love it.
This is an incredible video, Now you gotta do one for the INDY 500. Also gotta love the probably unknown cameo from a few of the faces of NASCAR RUclipsrs at 29:35
I'm American and I had no idea Daytona was this much of a spectacle! Fascinating!
Man, if THIS left you speechless, the 90s era woulda dropped you dead.
Nothing will suck you into it more than being there in person at a race. Completely different and somethng I recommend anyone do at least once.
I'm so glad you loved your experience here in our country, F1 may not be my favorite but I do actually some what enjoy it but yes nascar is so so SO much more than just a left turn only kind of race. KEEP IT UP MAN hopefully you come back for some more races 😎💯
I really appreciate this video, you made me smile. Id go to Daytona again and explain even more to you
I am truly amazed and envious of the pageantry you were able to capture and decipher for the world to see!
This channel is so underrated, only 30K views?! This video is amazing Alberto!
Thank you buddy! :D
Having just started getting into the Whelen Euro Series and hearing you say that you're a driver for it, you've got a new fan. Great video
Alberto you have outdone yourself with this amazing documentary. Cheers and thank you!
I've been a Nascar fan for 22 years and you did a fantastic job explaining the sport and how it works. Great video and glad you had fun!!👍🏻
Great coverage my man!! Hoping you can do the same at the Indy 500 sometime!!
You should really come and experience the Greatest Spectacle in Racing, the Indianapolis 500. This year, in less than a month will be the 107th running of the race. It is a tradition, a race, a *_MONTH_* of racing! We would love to have you come and check it out!
Wow this is the best video I’ve ever seen breaking down the expierence going to NASCAR. Thanks for highlighting the sport and having an open mind!
I'm so glad you got the chance to go! NASCAR is my favorite sport and there is so much more to it than going around in circles like everyone says.
I've been to many oval races and that was the best description of the sound I've ever heard 13:50
