Eddie Redmayne deserves an award for his performance in this movie..... It has got to be one of the truly spectacular films I have seen in the longest time.
***** And yesterday, he got the Screen Actors' Guild award for best actor, surprising everybody (they expected Keaton). This is a really tough field. I also liked Benedict Cumberbatch in "The Imitation Game." But I think Redmayne had a harder job with Hawking, and nailed it.
I only cried in this movie because of Eddie's acting. He made it so interesting and I know Stephen Hawking said that it was like seeing himself in many parts.
Stephen Hawking really is a shining beacon of human resilience and ability. The man taught this world so much and simply refused to die when he should have because he still had more to teach.
Rest in peace, you mad genius! You will go down in history with the greats: Galileo, Newton, Einstein, and remain an inspiration to all for centuries after your passing. Not just an incredible brain, but an incredible man that proved just what you can accomplish when you never give up. Dr. Hawking, I know you're exploring this universe now like you never have before, and freer than you ever knew you could be.
I've been waiting for someone to make this movie for quite some time. A brilliant Physicist and inspirational Man; Dr. Hawking. I've been brought to tears.
Rowan Lommen-Nelson hahahah you are funny, nothing can comes without a manufacturer :) Must watch a video on youtube(Scientific Proof for Atheist on Existence of God...Answer By: Zakir Naik ) this can change your opnion
Maybe true love is only possible when there's suffering. Maybe we never realize how valuable we are until something tragic happens. I remember being in the hospital when I was younger. They thought I had polio. The feeling of love and fulfillment of life had never been greater when I got better. I realized how precious life is, how precious humans are, and how important love is when my parents were falling asleep by my bedside. Suffering is horrible, but I cannot deny that there is a valuable lesson to be learned from it. Yes there seems to be needless suffering in the world, but how much of it is needed to get our attention? We only complain about people being killed by floods, but many of us don't drop everything and go lend a helping hand to these people. How much suffering do we need to start caring for each other. We are the most spoiled nation in the world and we complain the most about suffering in the world. Do you see a trend? You are so quick to blame God for suffering when you don't even believe in him. But you excuse yourself from all suffering. Have you never hurt someones feelings. Have you never indirectly driven somone to depression? Have you never gotten yourself sick? Is it really God's fault? Don't humans kill each other and put eachother in concentration camps? Dont humans hog natural recources to themselves while people are dying because they don't have a water foundation near by? Dont humans hog large portions of land to themselves whne there are people cramped near unstable waters? Dont humans rape each other? Lie to each other? Abuse each other? Make fun of each other? Don't humans cause most of the suffering in the world? Oh no, its God's fault. Its Gods fault for giving us a beautiful place to flourish and to mingle and to love each other. And its Gods fault that we took this home of ours and killed the animals for sport, destroyed the ecosystem, polluted the air, and through off weather patterns. Its God's fault. Its Gods fault its gods fault its gods fault. Give me a break people. Whether your believe in God or not. We can agree that this thing called love is much more then a word.
So it revolves around a love story to a woman he was married to for a long time and in real life ultimately left her for one of his caregivers. Classy.
Indeed. Interestingly enough, Benedict Cumberbatch played the parts of both people, first as Stephen Hawking in Hawking (2004), and as Alan Turing in The Imitation Game (2014).
Wonderful example of a human being surpassing all the odds without giving any credit to a deity, shows how someone who has had so much hardship in life required no belief in a god to still shine bright and long.
42414 112 Oh? what is your evidence that there can't be more than one almighty being? Where did you get that information? And how do you know its true? Not to mention you didn't refute what i asked at all, I asked which god, not what his name was, good try at not answering the question I asked though. ;)
42414 112 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem "An ad hominem (Latin for "to the man" or "to the person"[1]), short for argumentum ad hominem, means responding to arguments by attacking a person's character, rather than to the content of their arguments." Lots of examples in your comments, And I'm going to make one point per comment so its not too long for you, though I'm pretty sure at this point you're a troll.
42414 112 You haven't presented any arguments, you said they were arguments for god but didn't actually present any, then you also didn't answer my question about which god, bad short term memory? And either way you still did do the Ad hominem, it's quite possible to do it and also make an argument, though in this case you did not. But either way this will be my last comment to you as you have no interest in having a real conversation. I really hope you're a troll because if not I feel very sorry for you. This atheist wishes you a good life.
42414 112 Please sir keep graciously providing us with your almighty knowledge. Your intelligence and grand wisdom of the universe surpasses our mere unknowingly existence. SMH Why is it that the dumb people always think they are smart? Yes i am calling you dumb, as in you have a low IQ, as in nothing you have said has had a shred of meaning or subsistence. This is the film that introduced me and made me a fan of Eddie Redmayne. I remember watching this movie back when I was 14 and ever since I always try to go and see whatever movie he’s in at the theater no matter what it is. One of the best actors in the industry.
This oddly reminds me of A Beautiful Mind. A biopic about a genius that develops a life altering disease but with the love of his wife he is able to cope with it.
OMG, this is the most beautifully acted film i have ever seen. Eddie Redmayne gives a heartbreakingly beautiful performance as Steven and Felicity Jones is very close as his poor wife. The scene where he is on the stairs looking up at his baby son and he can't get up to him is up there with most tear jerking scenes of any film ever made. There wasn't a dry eye in the cinema! Beautiful acting, beautiful story and what a tribute to Steven and his wife.
Charly with Clif Robertson, Rain Man with Dustin Hoffman, My Left Foot with Daniel Day Lewis. When you mix a great actor with a physical handicap it appears to always be Oscar worthy.....
I saw the film last night...fantastic performances from Redmayne and Jones. Hawking let his wife go he did not leave her. He understood she had sacrificed her own career and life to care for him, and she was exhausted and could not cope anymore. Don't judge as my dad cared for my mum for over 25 years through her MS...it puts a massive strain on relationships and family ties, this was well portrayed in this film. Hawking is still great friends with his first wife and they have collaborated together on writing projects to this day.
This man is truly the best of all mankind, to face such trubbles and life changeing barries and to raise above them all, to become one of the worlds most respected and beloved men. Steven Hawkins, Husband, Father, Scientist, Inpersation, Human, Hero.
Just realised this trailer pretty much spoiled the movie completely. Still a great film nonetheless, Eddie Redmayne was outstanding in portraying Hawking.
MrsTruthTeller Everyone knew Prof. Hawking is diagnosed with motor neurone disease, I didn't find it necessary for the trailer to have included the exact scenes from the beginning and the end of the film.
Depends if they asked him, he is more than happy to lend out one of his computers (he uses several) to people that want him to "voice" stuff. It's what they did when he was on The Simpsons
Watched this on a plane recently and highly recommend it. It made me cry a couple times but I also found myself smiling every time something good happened. Really beautiful and uplifting film. And Eddie is excellent.
Felicity Jones is so adorable here, am I the only one who decided to watch the movie because of her? I haven't found any comments related to her. Isn't she that beatiful from the point of view of the British?
I studied the theory of making a cup of tea a perfection in the mouth of the beholder , not only will it give you an orgasmic feeling in the mouth but also does it change the way you taste every other cup of tea
Upravo sam ga odgledala...Film je jednostavno predivan, snazan, pomalo i tezak za gledanje, a opet romantican i prepun emocija,.. Edi je zasluzeno dobio oskara ! Divno filmsko ostvarenje! 10/10

I saw this movie yesterday and I felt disappointed. It was my fault. I wanted to learn about physics and the movies does that but it leads you wanting more. The movie is heavily on interactions and love between Jane and Stephen which is what the movie is originally about. So if you are looking for a love story with a hint of physics education then this movie is for you.
If you guys enjoyed this, look up "Not dead yet" which is a documentary about Jason Becker who was well on his way to becoming a HUGE rockstar when on the eve of what would have been his big break he found out he had ALS. But much like Steven Hawking he went "Am I able to tour with that?" surely a disease like ALS wasn't going to stop him from living the life he envisioned.
Eddie became so unrecognisable in this film. Well deserved Oscar for him
Yesssss defenetly
He played the part so well. It was almost like watching hawking himself
Eddie Redmayne deserves an award for his performance in this movie..... It has got to be one of the truly spectacular films I have seen in the longest time.

He look like Stephen hawking
Did anyone cried watching this movie? The trailer made me tear up a little
I did just let it out man let it out
I knew I was gonna cry, so I had a joint. I saw the trailer now (no joint), and couldn't hold the tears.

Every time i see the scene where Stephen (Eddie) trips and hits his head on the ground, i die a little inside.
I feel what you are saying....
and i feel how much he could have done without that illness
That actor is honored.
Great, two of the most brilliant minds Hawking and Turing are getting movies they deserve.
And I believe BOTH should be up for Oscar nominations :)
An Oscar without even seeing the film? How stupid is that?
KinglyDecay Their acting is that good, you can tell it'll be Oscar nominated just from the trailer....
KinglyDecay And the nominee for best trailer goes to....
Indeed. Interestingly enough, Benedict Cumberbatch played the parts of both people, first as Stephen Hawking in Hawking (2004), and as Alan Turing in The Imitation Game (2014).
Actors from Harry Potter travel in packs..this I have noticed.. where there's one..there's another.
Sweeney Todd maybe?

This oddly reminds me of A Beautiful Mind. A biopic about a genius that develops a life altering disease but with the love of his wife he is able to cope with it.
You got it all wrong
This sorta reminds that movie as well.

I can't tell if you're kidding or not, but Hawking got ALS not schizophrenia
Ummmm...no
Great performance by Eddie.

Amber Shoffren There’s no Tom Riddle.
It's Remus Lupin and Newt Scamander in the same movie. Nice.
and now he's gone. RIP xx
Am I the only one actually crying after watching this trailer?
hereeeeeeeeeeeee
This film made me cry and made me appreciate earth and all the things we take for granted.
This man is truly the best of all mankind, to face such trubbles and life changeing barries and to raise above them all, to become one of the worlds most respected and beloved men. Steven Hawkins, Husband, Father, Scientist, Inpersation, Human, Hero.
This is the best picture of the 2014, nothing more.
2015. :)
+Ayesha Kishver No, it was released in 2014
I've never cried at a trailer until now
Anyone else notice that how he is in the new Harry Potter movie and the man who played Remus Lupin in Harry Potter is in the movie with him.

Something tells me you say "fuckload" a lot.
What something tells you that???
But like no one Watched Hick I didn't think, Well I did and I liked it, But it wasn't very popular
Producers still watch small films and that's where most unknown people get noticed!
A fuckload of unknowns!
Splendid acting, Eddie Redmayne. Just brilliant!
Finally a documentary on Tony Hawk!
*Stephen hawking
The song is "Mary's Song" by Nick Cave & Warren Ellis
Just realised this trailer pretty much spoiled the movie completely. Still a great film nonetheless, Eddie Redmayne was outstanding in portraying Hawking.
LOL! This is an autobiography about a real person girl! Everyone already knows what happened. Hahahaha!!!
MrsTruthTeller nah. Not everyone. Its still great tho.
MrsTruthTeller Everyone knew Prof. Hawking is diagnosed with motor neurone disease, I didn't find it necessary for the trailer to have included the exact scenes from the beginning and the end of the film.

Exacly
Actually the trailer doesn’t at all touch on his wife falling in love itch her church choir director or his relationship with his nurse.
Omg, its Viserys :O
The Beggar King!
Oh, it is too. Looks different without his golden crown.
It's a different actor
jukebuk not the guy playing Hawking, the other one. Look again.

You know this hust made me cry it made me inspire so much
How can it be that i did not cry at titanic, but this movie made my eyes full of water?

That's what I was thinking
I cried most of the time during the start .He couldn't talk and it was just so sad😢
I'm glad recent movies have been shining lights on the greats in the field of science: both this film and The Imitation Game.
eddie redmayne seriously deserves an oscar for this performance. just brilliant
This man is a inspiration to everyone... to never give up, Everything is possible.
I still haven't seen it cause I cry at the trailer alone.
It's amazing how glasses, hair and clothes can make Eddie Redmayne, Benedict Cumberbatch and young Stephen Hawking look that similar ... ^^
*makeup
james raynor Yes, okay, that's another (big ^^) factor, I suppose ... ;)
Redmayne has a BJ mouth. it is shaped like a pillow. I wonder what he's done to it.
RIP Steven Hawking
8 January 1942- 14 March 2018
76 years old when he died today he truly was on of the greatest ❤️
I'm not the only one that loves that Eddie Redmayne was also Marius in Les Mis, right?
Felicity Jones is SMOKING HOT
This trailer just made me cry. What the hell am I going to be like after watching this film tonight???
Saw the film last night. Very enjoyable. But it wasn`t weepy at all, except for a few places.
I wonder if that was Hawking's actual computer voice in the movie.
Depends if they asked him, he is more than happy to lend out one of his computers (he uses several) to people that want him to "voice" stuff. It's what they did when he was on The Simpsons
It is, Hawking liked the film so much he approved the voice (the one they had was slightly wrong).
It was very heart breaking when Jane and Stephan break up 💔😔 Stupid Jonathan !!!
Don't force religious beliefs or any non religious beliefs into this. This movie is about our greatest human mind and life story.

+Greg Koc True lol. I wonder what the problem is.
Fille Mile the problem was that Hawking is British. i was just quoting the dialogue because i thought its funny
+Greg Koc Yeah I know. But I mean what's the problem of it being in American accent. It's like...an inside joke or some kind for me. Though still thanks anyway :)
i m just here to see Sheldon comment
fantastic film. made me cry especially when he had his trachy and he lost the ability to talk using his voice box. such an inspirational man.
He deserves an Oscar and J.K Simmons does too for supporting actor in Whiplash! Great actors with superb films!

0:36 Hey remus
This seems very sweet until you realize Hawking left his wife of nearly 40 years to be with his nurse.
Men, eh.
Lol

So we get a nurse sequel! Score!
You guys just ruined my vision of the movie but now with what you said it looks more realist haha.
what is the song being played in the trailers starting at 1:29 ? Please respond if you know, the song is beautiful
Hawking is Hawking......love all his written works and his discoveries....may you discover more for us and inspire us more
is this about the story of hawking.
If I'm crying just from the trailer, I'll make a flood in the theater when I go watch this! :')
I literally cried watching this
When he couldn't climb to his baby?
To one of the greatest minds in history. A brave, and intelligent human being. You will be fondly missed as we travel further into the unknown. RIP Steven Hawking
