    The first time I ever tanked was Illidan. My then-boyfriend was at work, I was leveling my BE Priest, and I got a message from his raid leader asking if he was home yet because they needed his Prot Paladin for Illidan's fire elementals. I had my own Prot Paladin that I played a lot, tanked heroic dungeons with often, was very aware of what the buttons did and was really comfortable with the spec. I replied that no, he wasn't home yet, but I had my own Prot Paladin. I'd watched my now-Hubby tank this phase a hundred times, and felt comfortable in taking his place, even though I hadn't gone into BT on my own. I logged onto Hubby's Paladin and helped his guild with their learning wipes until he got home, when he took over. The next day, they went on to get the Server First Illidan kill. In Wrath, I applied to the same guild on my Shadow Priest, went through their application and trial processes and eventually won my own raiding spot in my own right. To this day, I'm still friends with the people in that guild that are still playing.

      @Winland88 3 года назад +1

      I had the luck to complete TBC when the stuff was legit and its hard to disagree with preach statement with Kael, i personally found all end bosses epic in their own way(probably because what you had to do before you could even see them). Can't do a whole list and not sure about order but my favorites are Kael, Illidan and Firefighter. As a melee Firefighter was hands down most fun fight i did in my whole WoW career, Kael was simply epic fight and Illidan was the whole reason i picked up WoW back in 2007 and i actually shed a tear when we killed it first time, mainly due how hard and painful it was to reach that point, so much guild drama on the way almost killing whole guild and all the sleepless nights when i farmed primal shadows for whole roster just so we could progress BT(i was teen with unlimited time back then and others were adults with irl things). All in all this is still my best time in the gaming i ever had and it sucks to know i wont get that feeling ever again as games have changed a lot since then thanks to massive amount of information you can find from internet nowadays.
      Sadly there is only few low quality vids from TBC era(hydross, maggy)but i still watch our firefighter vid like at least once a year.

    Getting the Hand of A'dal title is still my most prized WoW memory.
    Sadly as a guild we lost a lot of good players after its completion because it took so much out of us. We still completed Black Temple before the big nerf though which was satisfying in its own way as well. TBC is still the pinacle of my WoW raiding.

    The way Preach talks about transitioning correctly or dying in newer boss fights is exactly how I feel about how Blizz did healing. The 2 coolest raid bosses I can think of right now are probably Denathrius and Staur Augur, I love how the whole room goes black when Denathrius casts massacre and entering the mirrors to teleport around in the room. It's pretty much the same for Staur Augur where the whole room changes and it feels like you're fighting in space. Our experience of Kael'Thas was tarnished somewhat by server leaderboard drama.
    There was a patch that released that lifted attunement requirements for Hyjal and BT, at the time we were the next guild in line to down Kael and in progression of the fight before the drop. We took the path of least resistance and went to Hyjal and BT early for the better loot and easier initial boss fights rather than "do the honourable thing" and carry on as if attunement was still a requirement and the level of hatred and vitriol we got for it was immense.
    The kicker is that it wasn't even from the highest guilds on the server either, they were basically like "all you assholes are doing this shit post nerf anyway so it doesn't matter" and "we'll see how you do with Bloodboil and Gorefiend" but its from people who left our guild and from the guilds who were only slightly ahead of us that took issue. Now the latter was just their place on the leaderboard feeling threatened really, nothing more, but the former was complete bullshit, these were people getting all sanctimonious about it when they got their experience of it on a farming run and with that in mind I made the point "if you deserve to be in BT, then I do too" I figured I could bum my way onto a farming run just as easily as any of those sanctimonious assholes as I was easily as competent as them, but I was loyal to the guild and helping with progression, as it should be.
    Either way, yeah it was petty bullshit and we did eventually down him in proper progression, we got a few BT and Hyjal bosses down first but it didn't really make much of a difference. It was a great fight and probably would top my list too.

    A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one!
    As I sit here sipping out of my AM/PM Illidan Cup XD, I have to say that I loved the reveal for Illidan in this video. Arthas, by far, is my favorite for the tower boss solely for fun, mechanics, theme, and nostalgia.
    However, I understand Illidan over Arthas. It’s like comparing the Battle of Helms Deep to the Battle of Pelennor Fields from LOTR. Both are marvelous successes, but the former was the Origional, and the first one to truly hit every note just right.
    I never played these bosses in their Day, but I watch these videos to try and compare my experiences in this game to those of the pro players who ran it in their day. Honestly, as sacrileges as it may be In The WoW community, I’ve still never even ran nor soloed Tempest Keep or Molten Core. I will one of these days, but I’ve watched people run it and talk about the fights. This is why I watch this kind of content. These ranked videos and reflections, analysis videos, and so on. I absolutely love listening to how players remember these experiences, it’s so cool to hear.
    Thank you Preach for your content.

    Bro, i totally agree with your list and 4/5 of those listed are 4/5 of my favorite bosses too, especially Illidan and Kael'thas. Such fond memories of that. I used to organize weekly pugs between two BT guilds with mutual friendships to run the TK attunement and hunt the phoenix mount

    It's always interesting how your own guild can make or break raids and bosses for you. I was in a terrible, toxic place for Mythic WoD raiding and it tainted what could have otherwise been such great memories.

    the way you describe blast furnace is how I feel about azshara. I only play heroic, as im narcoleptic and mythic would just be way too much commitment- and azshara heroic was wonderful for me. I played it as a disc priest and as a rogue, and DH- so I always had something to do- stuns, cc, console. I loved that fight so much

    I moved from one guild into a raiding guild and on the first raid night we were up against sun strider, I got a quick run down and then we went to it... I was amazed at that fight in it's entirety from where they placed those adds to the air phoase of the boss, really good.. that and lady Vashj were my first proper raid guild kills and I felt awesome after I'd done them :)

    Most of these bosses come from an expac that you don’t want to replay in tbc I think this might be a bit of just fond memories... also who writes a 9 like that

  • @Diskhate
    @Diskhate 2 года назад

    As someone that has been playing both private servers (vanilla and TBC) and has been raiding in classic since week 1 molten core up to now in Sunwell Plateau i gotta say...i bet that original Illidan must have been something else...
    We have never even seen the "kneeling/demon phase" go through...we've always just burned him through that phase, so we never had to witness warlocks tanking him, or the storm of fire coming down from above... kinda bums me down
    I 100% agree with Kaelthas being in the first place tho.. that is the one fight, above all, that always made me feel, more than all the others, like we were actually cooperating and helping each other to achieve a goal, instead of being 25 individuals each thinking about his-her own DPS or HPS output

    This video makes me want TBC classic so much more, I started in TBC but I was way too young to understand the concept of raiding. I just played for fun. But now i'll finally get to experience the proper endgame with my classic guild and it's going to be such a wonderful experience killing Illidan and Kael'thas for the first time. I can completely understand why you don't want to replay it, those memories are so precious and you'll remember for it for the rest of your life!

      Just try to avoid all kind of modern meta bs and simply enjoy the ride, sure you might want to get classes like encha shamans for your melee or SP's for caster/healer group but outside of that just have fun with it and try not to focus too much on minmaxing.

    My favourite fights i can best describe as a 'Symphonic encounters'
    Everyone is doing their individual part and yet all working together towards the same goal.
    Different phases of an encounter allowing certain classes, specs or simply players to apply themselves to the encounter in a way that emphasises their skill or execution.
    My favourite encounters have been (other than those already listed) Felmyst, Sarth3d, Freya, Deaths Demise, Lich King, Chogall, Sinestra, Nefarian v2.

    I like bosses where you as a DPS feel that you REALLY get to let loose, especially when you have to plan the fight out beforehand to blast BIG numbers.
    I hate bosses when you need to hold back due to mechanics, such as mistress in ToS, I also hate target dummy bossfights and swarm-style add fights where your DPS doesn't even help the raid much. In short, I love fights that makes your DPS capabilities truly matter by heavily reducing fight length or reducing the amount of damage the raid takes from adds.
    Examples of fights I really love:
    Going inside on Kilrogg deadeye
    Xul'Horac speed kill strats
    Archimonde, blasting on the ring opener getting as much cleave down as possible - Heroic archi boost runs were actually fun to just join for nothing more than to dps log and race.
    4th boss in Nighthold with the elementals on mythic, MASSIVE cleave every 2 minutes.
    MOTHER speedkill starts
    G'huun, cleaving as much damage as possible on both p1 adds and p2 adds while interlacing as much burn as possible during nuke phases
