There is always one movie of every decade that makes me feel like I live there, like I belong there. For the 90s it's Scream For the 80s it's Lost Boys
Joel Schumacher had a distinct flamboyance to his films that can’t be replicated, whether folks like it or not. I’m lucky to have grown up with The Lost Boys as well, because it IS a classic. And don’t get me started on how awesome Cry Little Sister is.
Sky Min I love that song "Cry Little Sister" also! I wanted to be David as a 9 yr old child & had a little bike crew calling ourselves The Lost Boys. Lol! It's a classic & I'm happy to be a 80's baby. No other vampire film beats it IMO. For me the next best vampire film that's good is From Dusk till Dawn I saw as a Teen but The Lost Boys won't get toppled from MY #1 spot. Oh and I love the song Lost in the Shadows a whole lot too from the awesome soundtrack.
Falling Down and Phone Booth were good too. Honestly, Joel Schumacher is a pretty underrated when you look at his filmography outside of his Batman movies and some of his later work
colten53 I didn't know that Joel Schumacher directed "Falling Down," That movie is on my fav list of all time too. That movie if great and underrated AF!
AGREED GREAT FILM. it was one of the first things I saw with him as a kid and I thought his hair would always look like that ha ha. Funny watching a season of 24 to escape he bites a guys jugular and I was like I know he didn't really die at the end ha ha
I watched this movie so many times that not 1 but 2 VHS tapes got worn out. That is obviously not including all the times I watched on TV during monster vision. I fucking LOVE this movie so much. It is a huge reason why I am into horror movies to this day.
A very underrated movie with keifer Sutherland and also directed by joel Schumacher is phone booth. You only hear keifers voice through the whole movie until the end. And he was awesome in it.
This movie is one of 3 that set the absolute standard of what a vampire movie should be, and you mentioned them in this review: Near Dark, Lost Boys and Fright Night. They all created a modern version of badass vampire lore that still has yet to be surpassed to this day in my opinion. I agree, this is a classic and a regular watch for me as well. Love it. Rest well Mr. Schumacher, we thank you for your vision.
“The Lost Boys” is a 1987 supernatural dark comedy horror film directed by Joel Schumacher and starring Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz, Corey Feldman, Jamison Newlander, Barnard Hughes, Edward Herrmann and Dianne Wiest. Released in theaters nationwide on July 31, 1987, “The Lost Boys” grossed $32.2 million at the box office against an $8.5 million production budget and became a cult classic to date.
It's a minor thing, but I love the dog "Nanook" in this, horror movies often go the easy route to kill the dog to get easy sympathy, but not only does he live, he protects Sam and saves the Frog brothers. I have always loved that.
This movie just makes you feel so cool, hanging out with badass vampire delinquents. I also love the stranger things vibe, centering around a bunch of boys in the 80s. Such a classic!
Lost Boys is one of the greatest vampire movies along with one of the best soundtracks. Joel Schumacher gave us some truly fine movies like Phone Booth and Falling Down. He'll be missed.
We had this movie recorded on VHS when I was a kid, and I can still remember popping it in and watching it and being scared for my life on the scene in the cave when David is trying to get Sam and the Frog brothers. Classic movie. I've never grown tired of it and just have the best time when watching it. It's like the best amusement park ride you could ever get on.
A fun flick to be sure, Kiefer even back then commanded the screen be it in this, or Stand by Me. A fun film I think more people like then care to admit :).
A sentimental favorite from way back. I loved it as a kid and nothing's changed. Except maybe that I like it more now than even back then. Great film, great cast, great everything. RIP Joel Schumacher. You hit a homerun with this one, bro
This movie is unique in its own way, the soundtrack "the doors"refrences the pacing, the style, the outfits the vampires wore heavy metal rocker style so on and so on just a instant classic that cant ever be replaced or remade.
I love this movie, perfect mix of the 80s aesthetic and a horror feel. And the whole thing is just so much fun to watch, while still being dark and scary when it needs to be. Lost Boys > Near Dark, fight me.
"Death by stereo!" One of my favorite movies too, really loved it from the very first time i saw it in a theater. Only negative about the Lost Boys is, no good sequel ever came...
Keefer Sutherland is definitely the coolest vampire leader! He is Just a phenomenon! Lost boys it's definitely a classic vampire movie! And buddy if you do ever top 10 vampire movies, just mention the first 9, it would be cool!
Just the fact that there’s some immortal teenagers going out every night killing people that mess with them, the main vampire of the group has white hair so it really makes him appear as dead just giving off the vibe that he’s been around doing what he does as a teenager for like a hundred years
Your childhood movie watch rotation is identical to what mine was. Me and my dad would watch these movies over and over again. The lost boys will always be one of my favorite horror classic
As far as horror goes, I'm not a fan of vampire & werewolf movies BUT I've always loved the Lost Boys & Near Dark. I love that they used the story of "Peter Pan" as a foundation to build a really awesome vampire movie. It does make me sad to know that Corey Haim passed away not getting to see the dream he had of a "Lost Boys" Remake with the original cast come to fruition. He spent the end of his life pushing hard for that. My only critique is that I wish the movie would have included more of a backstory for Star & the little boy. I think Jamie Gertz is a great actress but I felt like they didn't allow her character to be anything more than a gypsy type that was there mainly to provide eye candy & to help expand on the character of Michael...But Maybe that's what they were going for...
Man! Please i need movie recomendations like this. Looks like we have the same taste. This is one of the BEST movies i've ever seen. It has something on it that makes me just travel back in time, pure magic.
My favourite vampire movie along with From Dusk till Dawn, both of which have severely great soundtracks now that I think of it. Will always be a classic and may Joel rest in peace. Great video as always Cody!😁 I was wondering where you got that awesome Christine shirt?
Great review. Solid all the way around. My top 5 are 5) Lost Boys, 4) Silver Streak (Pryor and Wilder), 3. Indiana Jones, 2) Goodfellas, and 1)Shawshank Redemption.
Love this movie. IDK who was a bigger 80s movie villain Kiefer Sutherland (Lost Boys, Stand By Me) or William Zabka (Karate Kid, Back to School, One of the Guys) You know if this movie was remade today. All the vampires would be written as misunderstood.
James Spader was also an 80's villain ( the new kids, pretty in pink and oh darn I'm forgetting the one with Robert Downey Jr). But yeah those were your bad boys for that time.
One of my favourite parts of this movie it when they’re about to go into David’s cave and Edgar says to Michael: “Just so you know, if you try to stop us or vamp out in any way I’ll steak you without even thinking twice about it” Then sam goes “Chill out Edgar” Love it 😂😂😂
The Lost Boys is my favorite vampire film as well. I love it for all the reasons Cody outlined. In addition I appreciate that consciously or unconsciously it is a metaphor for adolescence. During adolescence a teen is supposed to decide if he or she will adhere to their family's values or reject them, in whole or in part. That is the choice that Michael in the Lost Boys is facing as he turns into a vampire.
Greg Canom did the make up for the movie. My mom was best friends with him in high school when they went to Western High. So besides being an AWESOME movie there is a special connection. Also this and the Benny Hill theme was the reason I took up saxophone!
I'm a new comer to The Lost Boys but it instantly went into my top 10 movies of all time. I thoroughly enjoyed your review of it and agree with all of your points 👊
I love this movie. The Lost Boys is one of the few R rated films I saw as a kid along with the original two Terminators and a couple others. I stayed up late to watch it on Flix (the only channel we had that showed uncensored movies) when I was in Junior High right around the time I really started getting into vampires. So yeah, definitely a special one for me too, though these days Let Me In may slightly edge it out for my favorite vampire film. Thanks and RIP Joel Schumacher.
Been on a serious lost boys binge recently watching it every couple of weeks. Took a few years away from it and I’m glad I did because I’m enjoying it more than ever! Watching it prompted me to watch a few reviews and that led me to your channel. Im glad it did, great review 🙌🏽
really liked this review! I love the movie! John Carpenter's Vampires also a good one!! Where did you get that TeeShirt!?!? I need it! Also, cool background image, I think I saw every homage
Hell yea brother!! Finally!! I been waiting for this review from you!!! I love this movie SO much!! I wish i could find the words to describe how much this movie means to me...... The way this movie made me feel the first time i watched it is what shaped me into the horror genre lover i am today!!! Sorry if my comment is jumbled or dosent make complete sense. Im a lil liquored up at the moment, my Dad is not doin well health wise, he dosent have much longer... Thank you Cody, your videos bring me and so many others so much joy! I appreciate you brother!!!! Sorry for the novel of a comment lol
It’s an 80s movie, horror, comedy, romance, music video, and beach summer movie all in one. It bottled the decade so well in visuals, script, and direction. The actors are remembered. The practical effects are unmatched.
Hey Cody I love The Lost Boys, but I love Interview with the Vampire a little more as a vampire film. What do you think of that one? Don't think I've ever heard you talk about it.
One of my absolute favorites! The sequels are... interesting. The Tribe is pretty bad, but for a straight to video movie The Thirst isn’t horrible. Dare I say pretty enjoyable. Neither of them come close to scratching the surface of awesomeness that the original is. An absolute classic.
😂...saxophone guy. Schumacher cranked out some classics. RIP. Always loved seeing ‘The Lost Boys’ on the marquee early in Lethal Weapon. Warners knew it was a winner in ‘87 before it even came out.
I Finally watched this earlier today after buying the VHS at a goodwill a few months ago. It was amazing! It’s now at the top of my tier list, along with Friday The 13TH, Candy Man, and Silence of The Lambs!
My favourite vampire films Bram stoker's dracula Fright night John carpenter's vampires From dusk till dawn Taste the blood of dracula Dracula has risen from the grave Salem's lot Interview with the vampire etc
My top 3 vampire movies are from 3 different eras 1. Blade(1998) 2. The Lost Boys(1987) 3. Dracula(1931) Blade is an Awesome superhero/vampire movie. Wesley Snipes is the greatest vampire hunter of all time. The Lost Boys is an Awesome 80s vampire movie. All the vampire look cool & are badass. The Frog brothers are funny as hell & Michael & his brother are freaking great. Keifer Sutherland is a great villain. Dracula is a great vampire. It's the original vampire flick. Bela Lugosi is Awesome as the ultimate bloodsucker Count Dracula. Dr. Van Helsing is also cool as hell & the only one to resist Dracula's commands in Dracula's words "your will is strong Van Helsing,"
By far the best Vampire movie. My personal favorite as well. An awesome soundtrack as you mentioned. You summarized it perfectly. A must see if someone out there has never seen it. You won't regret it.
I think Kiefer's performance was really good. I liked the movie when it came out, and still enjoy it today. I agree with the style. It had such a unique feel, and look to it.
My eyes lit up when I saw you did a review of Lost boys.Lost boys and Fright night are my two favourite vampire movies.Keifer and Chris Surrandon are easily my two favourite vampires. When I was a kid my local movie rental store had a card board life size cut of all the Lost boys and when they were done with it they gave it to me so I had this life size card board cut out sitting in my room which I loved since I had a celebrity crush on Kiefer at the time 😊. God I wish I would have kept it ...seriously kicking myself for that 😔. Any chance you will do a review of ET ? One of my other favourite movies as a kid. That movie has a special place in my heart ❤️ saw it for the first time at the drive in with my Mom who passed away 10 years ago. One of my favourite memories of her ❤️.
My mom had watched this movie regularly when I was a kid, and while I wasn't interested in the movie then, I was certainly made curious about the atmosphere and the premise. When I did see it in my early 20s, I was kicking my ass for not seeing the film much sooner.
Hey Cody, hope you and your familly are doing well? I simply wanted to tell you that I just saw The Lost Boys this week-end FOR THE FIRST TIME in my life, and I am 44 years old, so, let me tell you that I wish I had seen this movie when it came out, because this his awsome!!!! Thank you man. 😉
I just watched this for the first time today. I'd been planning to watch at some point, but it wasn't exactly a high priority, either. A friend of mine gave me a triple Blu-Ray pack of all three movies and, yeah, this movie was quite good. Fright Night will always be my favorite 80's vampire movie but this was pretty cool. I'm dreading those sequels, though.
Forever Classic . Watched it the other day with my 15 year old nephew and he thought it was awesome . This movie was made almost 20 years before he was even born . To me that's one of the markers of a great film . Relatable to any generation ... The man that played Max / the dad from the Gilmore Girls actually passed a couple years back ....
Great review man, i had a duped copy of fright night and wore that B out just like you did with lost boys. Difference is i found fright night more frightning. That excuse the "stepdad" used for passing the vamp tests was too weak for me...i mean unless he used illusions to cast a reflection for the boys, but back when i was 12 i never thought about that. Wish it was a longer movie too, i wanted more of the frog bros!
Oh yeah, I was waiting for you to review this awesome vampire flick. Definitely my personal favorite vampire movie next to Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992). RIP Joel Schumacher
I had no idea what I was watching when I watched this in the late 80s and got the whole experience head on, with no idea what to expect and that is the best way to enjoy films when they are this good.
Lost boys and fright night are the top 2 best vampire films ever watched both movies since first released on vhs and still watching them today on blu ray so awesome that you did this movie finally and the fright night one was also cool for a big fan of vampire and horror movies
This is one of my favorite movies OF ALL TIME!!! Straight awesome! The soundtrack is cool, also. I'm a fellow metalhead. Echo And The Bunnymen covering "People Are Strange" by The Doors is too cool, as I love both bands.
This is one of my favs as well, so many quotable moments and so unlike any other vampire movie ever made 😎 "My own brother a goddamn, shit-sucking vampire! Oh, you wait 'til mom finds out buddy."
I saw The Lost Boys at a sneak preview a day before it came out! It was also the first DVD I ever purchased. Another great movie to check out, Near Dark.
Rating is 5/5. Not sure why my text disappeared. Gotta love technology!
Well, we all knew it
No big deal brother. Mistakes happen
Dale Strunk...Dale Stunk....I have a package for Dale STUNK!
I agree 5/5. Fun Vampi Film
Jacob Montoya cool...
There is always one movie of every decade that makes me feel like I live there, like I belong there.

For me,its Top Gun and Fight Club respectively.

HE FINALLY REVIEWED IT!!! I love this movie.
My favorite vampire movie, and Kiefer’s portrayal as David is one of my all time favorite movie villains! Lost Boys 10/10
AGREED GREAT FILM. it was one of the first things I saw with him as a kid and I thought his hair would always look like that ha ha. Funny watching a season of 24 to escape he bites a guys jugular and I was like I know he didn't really die at the end ha ha
This movie needs no rating RIP Joel Schumacher it's a classic
I got a bone to pick with anyone that don't like The Lost Boys. How dare you!? 👊
Is it even possible to hate this movie?
It's literally home alone, but in the 80s, with vampires. what's not to love. I watched it yesterday.
Fright Night, The Lost Boys, Dusk til Dawn, and John Carpenter’s Vampires are my favorite vampire movies.
JC Vampires is criminal Underrated
Watch near dark
Doctor Sleep the sequel to The Shining is a vampire film, when you think about. A damn fine effort it was.
@@condatis6175 true enough 😂
Cody Leach : This IS My fav vampire movie of all time. I'ma 80's baby. So did I man, me & my lil bros wore that VHS out!! LOL!
RIP to Joel Schumacher.
I love it when Sam learns that Michael is a vampire, starts freaking out and says " wait till mom finds out buddy"

Wow this film is a great cult classic in the horror genre.
One of the best vampire movie's from the 80s
@B.S. There really isn't a best movie of all time just preference lol
Along with fright night from 1985
We had this movie recorded on VHS when I was a kid, and I can still remember popping it in and watching it and being scared for my life on the scene in the cave when David is trying to get Sam and the Frog brothers. Just finished the movie about an hour ago. What a great and charming film. Thank you for the recommendation!
So ironic - I just re-watched Lost Boys and Near Dark last night! And lo and behold, today I'm greeted with this awesome video! Thanks, Cody!!!😁💖💀
I'm rematching it right now.
Holy shit, you don’t know how long I’ve been waiting for you to review this movie!🤘

So glad you mentioned the soundtrack. Good Times is a pretty big song here in Australia and still played regularly today
Ahh yes you finally got to it. Rest In Peace Joel Schumacher.
My favourite vampire movie along with From Dusk till Dawn, both of which have severely great soundtracks now that I think of it. Will always be a classic and may Joel rest in peace.

You have awesome taste
Hey cody just watched the childs play franchise and it's one of my favorite franchises now
Maybe my favourite scene is the 'Initiations Over' scene with Walk This Way playing
One of my favourite parts of this movie it when they’re about to go into David’s cave and Edgar says to Michael:
“Just so you know, if you try to stop us or vamp out in any way I’ll steak you without even thinking twice about it”
Then sam goes
“Chill out Edgar”
Love it 😂😂😂

The nostalgia just in the fuckin song with the saxophone is crazy.lol. I to wore three VHS tape out. Actually still have it! Great film
The greatest vampire movie of all time in my eyes. I just have so much nostalgia for this flick, Cody. Glad you did this review, brotha.
*IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME* THANK YOU CODY!!!
Lost Boys best vampire movie ever.. It's not even close
YES FINALLY. My dad showed me this movie when I was little! Do all the films cody! Your awesome
A classic! My favorite vampire movie!
Lost boys and fright night are the top 2 best vampire films ever watched both movies since first released on vhs and still watching them today on blu ray so awesome that you did this movie finally and the fright night one was also cool for a big fan of vampire and horror movies
RIP Joel Schumacher He was a legend
Whenever I'm away from home and feeling homesick I put on the Lost Boys. Or... Killer Klowns from Outer space
This is one of my favorite movies OF ALL TIME!!! Straight awesome! The soundtrack is cool, also. I'm a fellow metalhead. Echo And The Bunnymen covering "People Are Strange" by The Doors is too cool, as I love both bands.
This is one of my favs as well, so many quotable moments and so unlike any other vampire movie ever made 😎
"My own brother a goddamn, shit-sucking vampire! Oh, you wait 'til mom finds out buddy."
The Lost Boys is one of the greatest vampire horror film since Fright Night.
Agreed. This movie is style, gore and well paced.
Excellent film.
I saw The Lost Boys at a sneak preview a day before it came out! It was also the first DVD I ever purchased. Another great movie to check out, Near Dark.
I think most of us can agree this film is not better than fright night I hope
Everyone has a unique opinion...so, it’s possible that someone would disagree.
