    Awesome. Abalone diving is also fun off the Sonoma coast.

      Joe, I wish. Abalone is off limits now since 4 years ago, due to a massive die-off. I did it for 30+ years, but it may not come back in my lifetime.

    Are you actually able to do that with a snorkel?

      No problem, only 20' and I'm only down for some 30-40 seconds. Exceptional freedivers go over 100' and stay down 3-4 minutes.

    What do you do with sea urchins? Are they edible?

      Yes, you eat the roe. You can look up videos on cleaning and serving it. Standard fare in the better sushi restaurants.

      @@Staninec Interesting. Does that mean you can tell the males from females when you harvest them? Or do you more or less take your chances?
