I agree. Stopped watching 60 seconds in. That so called music drove me away. The words in the song were appropriate. "I can't help you now" by subscribing because of that song playing in the background.
We measured it so it fits our dometic fridge, so around 40-50cm ish, there is more space under the ”matress” part due to the cars bed design with the overhang
@@scandivanman i have a multivan with an extension board and wondered as there isn't much space between the bed and drivers seat.... do you have a long wheel base van ?
@@billsmith756 Hi Bill, I have the SWB, for the "multi-board flex" we bought a kit from Germany to build our own, With that said we are on Version 3 or 4 and as part of that we did shortern the board part so that the total length of the bed went from 2m as standard to around 1.85m, for sleeping its fine and the extra length gives us enough space to put the cool box between the bed and the kitchen part - I'll show it in the van tour we are going to flim.
@@scandivanman But the issue is that it is screwed into MDF (glued together sawdust). Any water that contacts the MDF will weaken it e.g. rain in the doorway/wet shoes/kitchen activity, plus condensation from the metal it is screwed into (if using in cold weather). Also, vibration from driving will loosen the screw holes because the MDF is compressible. Nice looking, and functional, but perhaps not safe in a crash, and durable for occasional trips.

Super vidéo qui donne plein d'idées.merci beaucoup. Est ce que vous pourriez donner les liens pour acheter le pied ainsi que l'attache pour clipser la table s'il vous plaît?merci d'avance
The table tops are not from Ikea, we bought from a diy store, in English we think its called reconstituted oak worktop and the rail system and leg is from Reimo
This is awesome! 😃 Cool idea, thanks for sharing! 👍 Could you tell me the measurements for the two oak table tops? I’ve already ordered the rail system and leg. 😊
Hi AJ awesome to see your version of it, I chose 40cm wide and 64 cm long, but the desk and table part are same size but if I made it again I’d make the table a bit shorter so you can easier get in and out of the chair when it’s swiveled, 10-15cm shorter would have been fine
Is it possible to see the floor fixings before the unit it put in? Is it drilled through the van floor or could it be attached to the cargo stays? Thanks you and I love it by the way
Hi there Thanks for watching. It actually just clears it and opens fine When the table is not up, When the table is out then you have to comprimise and not use it for a While until you fold it down again. But the van is too small really to leave the table up for long periods anyways.
@@scandivanman thanks for the reply.. I’ve replicated your idea but sadly the table rail I have gets in the way of the drawer 🤦♂️ think I might have to put a sheet of ply on top of the unit to raise the overhang away from the drawer! Nevermind
Hey super idea! I am looking at Ikea with whole other eyes now. I think there are probably a lot of "van-hackable" furniture ideas to be found there. cheers!
I sure there is a lot more creative Ideas for Vanlife with IKEA products - Main challenge is just keeping the weight of final creation reasonable. Thanks for your comment.
Those who make campers themselves do not know one very important thing! In formal and factory-built campers, the interior body and all cabinets, from the walls to the ceiling, are made of materials that do not easily penetrate moisture and are hollow inside, meaning there is nothing in the middle of the wood except air or insulating materials. Disposal is due to heat, cold, humidity, fire, insects, and most importantly, weight. Always think and give the possibility, what will happen if you have an accident with a camper? What weight will each wooden board find and how and where will it be thrown?
Brilliant.. Just saw this made me laugh.. My Mrs is Swedish 😂.. Im from Devon UK.. Land and home of vw T5 .. T4 transporters and most camping and vans surfing... Hi tessa, glad you liked the video and could endure the Music. No i had to buy two rail kits, but over a year on, from experience it wasn’t nessecary as we have only used the 2nd one (long side) maybe twice, we usually just use the front where the drawers go, because then you have a chair (swivel chair) and table, perfect for camping or eating a take away by a scenic spot. Happy camping
Losing the music would be a bonus.. Great info and video though.
Thanks for he feedback Philip we consider it next time

Really useful video. Agree the music was a huge distraction.
Omg, using a cabinet as a cabinet, you are incredible
Metal rails of the van?! :')
Love the electrics 🤣🤣🤣
I keep trying to turn the music off! So distracting
Thanks for the feedback
Great content... music too loud to hear everything you say though...
Definitely no music! How much space do you have if you put the bench seat flat, enough for a bed?
We measured it so it fits our dometic fridge, so around 40-50cm ish, there is more space under the ”matress” part due to the cars bed design with the overhang

@@scandivanman great, thanks for the info and quick reply!
What would happen if you gave a good hard sudden horizontal pull on the top? I'm guessing the anchoring screws would pull out of the MDF.
Good question, they might, but we used metal reinforcements brackets on a lot of angles to make it more sturdy

Where I can get the Folding Adjustable height table leg in USA?
Try amazon. But If i were to make it again i would have chosen a smaller table leg which is fully removable for storage
hello, the table tops are also from Ikea, have been searching the net for days but can't find anything suitable. you made the plates yourself.
