I received the $50 OEM Ford part from Amazon this afternoon, and I just finished installing this in 10 minutes, thanks to your video!!!!! Thanks SO much!!!! The place I went to wanted $175 for the part and to install it. You saved me $125!!! Thank you!!!
@@alyoungcuda Thank you!!!!! (Also, for the first tool to "push the clips down" I used one of those plastic paint spackle tools. It had a smaller tube of spackle attached to it - but the plastic tool was about 1.5" in width. This tool was wide enough to quickly find the first - middle clip - to remove the light. Since it was plastic, it didn't scratch up my car or glass, either.)
I wish I would have come across this video earlier. My 2014 Escape didn't pass inspection because this light was burned out. I went to a Ford dealer and the price of the unit plus the labor cost came close to 200 dollars to replace it. You did an excellent job on how to complete the job.
Thank Brother! Just bought a used 2015 Escape and at first I thought it was dumb to have a reflector above the lift gate. It wasn't until I noticed the LED bulbs inside that I found out it was actually a third brake light. Thankful to you for posting this before I broke something trying to replace it.
Thanks for this video. I had a bit of a tougher time getting the light off. The top tilted down but the bottom wasn't budging. I was concerned about breaking the rear window so I taped around the light with duct tape (not certain if that would help) and used an auto plastic pry tool kit from Amazon to proceed. I needed to pry it in two places at once with two tools from the kit. Some of the light started breaking off but it eventually came loose. In my case, the replacement light’s metal clip was too close to the windshield washer’s attachment so I took it downstairs and gently pushed it far enough away with a screwdriver to slip the hose back on. A little nerve-racking but it worked.
This is soooo true! Thank you so much for this video. Auto parts wanted to charge me $70 for the unit. I thought there should be another way! I am driving a Focus 2014 at the moment - and that is a LOT of money for such a small car. For an Escape, not too bad. But, I will definitely look for it on Amazon. Thanks a lot!

It use to be the 3rd stop light is not part of inspection because some cars don't have it, but some places try to get you on it if you didn't know.

Bulbs are led..not replaceable separately..must buy the whole unit
