Troubleshooting Drivability Issues on the Rare Turbo Lebaron GTC

- Now that we have the Lebaron livable, we need to take care of the drivability issues. The alternator doesn't seem to be charging, and the car dies coming to a stop. Let's figure out what's up and get this thing back on the road.

The symptom of stalling at speed generally indicates VSS.
You really want the nippondenso alternator; smaller, lighter, more powerful.
The car has a SMEC, it's not a Logic Module/Power Module car.
These are great cars, great potential for an 80s car. Congrats on finding a rust free example
Is repairing the chassis of this type of car but 1987 lebaron 2.2 turbo worth it? Or should i just pass on that car ?
Personally, I would pass on one with rust. If cheap it could be a good parts car to swap the motor into another fwd dodge of the era
The vacuum line from the cruise control goes to a port on the turbo. It turns boost into vacuum through some little device in it. It helps you maintain cruise control during boost.

Just bought an 89 non turbo 5 speed, tach doesnt work. Sometimes is eratic, any tips?
It's a common issue that the solder joints on the dash pcb crack. Removing the dash and reflowing the joints is a good place to start

Still have it! Runs and drives decent. Still has a few odds and ends that need taken care of

Couple little things to do on it. The front seats are pretty bad. Also developed an issue of boost cut too early. I'll be going over it in the next video on this one

If the alternator isn't charging u can wire in a external regulator.

Is the emissions diagram missing from the hood?
Ah, cool. That saying 2.2 is the other indication that this is a 2.2 TII car.
Yeah if I remember correctly there wasn't a good emissions diagram under the hood weirdly enough
Some of those diagrams are useless. Others are extremely easy to read.
Oh no! The quarter window finally took a dump! That is not a fun job, but once you rebuild it, you'll have years and years before you have to worry about it.

Boost control is really good.
Check codes after driving a bit. See if there is a VSS code set. It would be a code 15.
Not all codes set CEL.
