Could the dark heart actually be a void dimension like a realm? If xal'atath is absorbing enough power, she could be planning to use it to power a new old god, or a new body for herself. The interesting part is i don't think khadgar just died. Just got absorbed into a void dimension/realm within the dark heart, meaning they give up their physical form but become a void form instead.
I think khadgar should've been much more powerful given how he is in lore, this made him look so stupid. And the villain should've had more buildup, she just appear. I guess it builds the mystery of how she is so powerful, but i think this pales in comparison to the buildup warcraft3 destruction of dalaran had. (Knowing the quest context as well, it's a sudden assault and she just shows up) (Characters talking about the legion making you wonder what it's going to happen, then they speak of conquering the city, they make a ritual and after much effort the legion lord Is summoned and you get to view their power for the first time). I don't want to be negative for the sake of it, i hate seeing negativity, but i think this could've been much better of an intro, and it feels like shock value because they needed to have it, without any care about making it a meaningful event. There's not even (meaningful) dialogue, it could've been much better :( (i feel like this wasted dalaran, and khadgar) - EDIT: I just watched the dalaran teleport cutscene and it was so good. It makes us expect her appearence, and expect her to be strong. But peraphs she did not need to be here yet. I just wish dalaran destruction was handled in a better way, you don't need to explode a city randomly to show that she's powerful, archimonde himself needed summoning+ a ritual for it. I think it should've been a bigger deal that a 10s segment in a cutscene. In general i warmed up to the expansion (from the quests/cutscenes), the theme seem to be done well, and other xal'atath appearences are MUCH better.
@@mrmister5609 In this context, in this quest, she just appear. We know Little of the "new" her, it's pretty much the first time. I don't think having a character being in jail and then coming to just randomly destroy a city is that compelling. I don't feel bad for dalaran, i don't feel anything about her appearence, i think the good guys aren't doing anything meaningful or trying, i just leave saying "oh ok". (I know she's been there and it was kinda hinted she was strong, but there's a difference between kinda hinted and archimonde++++ level strong. It just needed a bit of buildup for the event to be good, like they did with so many other times when the new power-level was sudden) I'm evaluating the event as a whole in the story, this is nothing when compared to even bfa undercity scenario. The scene does nothing apart from saying "the villain is strong, dalaran is gone". Then again, i liked the zones story, i liked her in the cutscene with the spider queen, i'll like her in the future, but here i don't think the event is well executed.
To be fair, using magic takes quite a lot of effort for a Mage, and Khadgar basically used the Mage version of a particle cannon on Xal'atath. He was probably exhausted after that, using what mana he had left to ensure that Alleria, one of his old friends and comrades-in-arms, could get out. I do admit, I wish he did get to at least punch Xal in the throat, but I'll accept this as canon.
No... Khadgar.. Dalaran..:( i'm not playing anymore and not planning to, but It was painful to watch. He was the best and the last lore character i was still care about. Rest in peace, Khadgar, thank you for everything.. :(
Khadgar is not dead. Remember how Varian died? Much better showcasing of a death scene. Here, he only lost a hand (maybe even not) And btw why mages can't teleport themselves out of safety, but can teleport others?
did you not see the part where kadghar shot that huge ass laserbeam at Xalatath until he literally couldn't stand anymore? Bro blew out all his mana and only regenerated enough for one teleport.
1:14 Dang it.. Not again with Atiesh. Ok.. Who wants to go and find those pieces again? Also this should've been called the "'Literal' Fall of Dalaran"
Honestly this would be even worse then letting him die right now and big injustice to his character to degrade him to a status of some corrupted raid boss. Khadgar is the OG character, as he was here since Wacraft 1. Even this cinematic looks like a cheap end for such a long-lasting and popular character, which is why I hope, it is not the end of him..
The Legion broke it 3 times and left some traces of it behind, Xal'atath came in, placed her big ball sacks on the table and said: "Nah, I'd erase it."
Let this scar signify the first blow against the mortal world. From this seal shall arise the doom of men, who, in their arrogance, sought to wield our fire as their own. Blindly they built their kingdoms upon stolen knowledge and conceit
As much as I hated Voljin's forced death. This is just another level of silliness. Khadgar just died? He used all his power to stop Xal'Atah, yet he wasn't even able to harm her in the slightest. Then he was just killed. Aha. Outstanding storyline.
Voljin got stabbed by a random demon nobody because he wasn’t paying attention. Khadgar at least saved Alleria and died trying to defend his city even if he failed. Sorry, but Voljin’s death was way dumber and far less inpactful.
He's not dead. Either in the Void or if he's in the Shadowlands he bumps into you know who informs her of the situation and out she comes to nuke everything in sight. Redemption arc complete.
Pale elf vs blue elf. Both seasoned veterans in the arts of blowing up cities and humiliating big figures. Still she has 2 cities on her blown up list, gotta raise your game xal, blowing up dalaran is just something every wannabe villan does.. kind of the initiation ritual at this point. But this time it got vapirized, we'll watch her psyco villain career with great interest.
I don’t think he is dead, tell we have it confirmed by the game, or see his body he is dead he isn’t. He didn’t have a death line Tirion, Vol’jin, or Varian. It just looked like he was being pulled in.
Big ball of purple also took Xal'atath, so I figure it's a teleport spell not a disintegration effect. There's a plausible way out if the writers want an exit instead of killing him with finality.
I genuinely teared up when Dalaran blew up. Even when general chat spoiled it, it still hit hard when I saw the cinematic myself. All those years spent there… And chat spoiling it made it worse. Going around helping the folks knowing about the impending doom.. it just adds to that sense of dread.
Maybe khagdar used alter time and he is safe, the spell return after 10 seconds to the activation location and then he used slow fall and invisibility.
finaly now that khadgar is dead there is a chance for players to get atiesh again. my gues it that with the explosion its been splintered like it was in original vanilla and players will one day be able to collect the splinters and fix the staff
Bro.... Khadgar better not be dead. If they killed him like this, its worse than Bovlar vs Sylvanas. Just one attack, and he's OOM and then disenchanted?
Dalaran's gone, again. No way do I believe Khadgar's dead though, Medivh might save his hide, or he's been transported somewhere else to be the Void's new puppet. He's also quite likely to have lost a hand.
Not gonna lie, but Khadgar's death has a lesser impact compared to Varian's death by Gul'dan in Legion. Perhaps it's because WoW players have spent more time and interacting with Varian compared to Khadgar.
I have a feeling since Xal is basically absorbing all of Dalaran's magic into the Dark Heart, and Kadgar still had some magic left in him since he teleported Alleria away, maybe he did survive, but just his powers being absorbed into the Dark Heart. Also, feel free to correct me if my theory is wrong, I've only played WoW since either WoD, Legion, or Bfa.
Khadgar uses Arcane magic and she is basically immune (actually probably makes her stronger). Also he's old and tired and just helped teleport an entire city.
Also she was expecting Khadgar but Alleria busted in later. I don't think she is spooked by Alleria but something is going on between them, that's why Xal'atath reacts to her differently.
After all those years Dalaran was destroyed once again. But I don't suppose we will be able to rebuilt it. I can say one thing: Xal'atath will suffer for what she's done with Khadgar!😡
I really don't think Dalaran was fully destroyed. The more i re-watch it it looks to me like she was sending it somewhere. Specially since Xal was in the blast herself.
I don't think he's 'truly' gone, in other instances of major character death say Varian or Tirion, we've seen them physically annihilated by either Gul'dan or the Legion creature. We only saw his arm being well disintegrated/thanos snapped. I think it was implied that it seems like Khadgar died with the destruction of Dalaran but was teleported away elsewhere. Or it could all just be copium, who knows?
Time to collect the staff's splinters again. Dammit.

It's because there's a whole-ass quest chain where you evacuate everyone else before that cutscene.
Blizzard can you stop killing off the only good characters in wow and leaving us with the uninteresting ones.
What is this, the 6th time, Dalaran’s been destroyed during a major crisis? How long before the City is going to be rebuilt?
As franklin would say - aww here we go again
The strongest mage on Azeroth armed with Atiesh and not a single scratch with an attack that left him breathless... I hope that there's a good excuse for that happening in game
The excuse is shitty Blizz writing as usual.
Okay, for some reason this cartoonish goofy artstyle works great with tense drama cutscenes
Yeah Khadgar is definitely in a pocket realm. He’s gonna be #damaged just like Anduin after this
I think khadgar should've been much more powerful given how he is in lore, this made him look so stupid. And the villain should've had more buildup, she just appear.
I guess it builds the mystery of how she is so powerful, but i think this pales in comparison to the buildup warcraft3 destruction of dalaran had.
(Knowing the quest context as well, it's a sudden assault and she just shows up)
(Characters talking about the legion making you wonder what it's going to happen, then they speak of conquering the city, they make a ritual and after much effort the legion lord Is summoned and you get to view their power for the first time).
I don't want to be negative for the sake of it, i hate seeing negativity, but i think this could've been much better of an intro, and it feels like shock value because they needed to have it, without any care about making it a meaningful event.
There's not even (meaningful) dialogue, it could've been much better :( (i feel like this wasted dalaran, and khadgar)
-
EDIT: I just watched the dalaran teleport cutscene and it was so good.
In general i warmed up to the expansion (from the quests/cutscenes), the theme seem to be done well, and other xal'atath appearences are MUCH better.
the villain was build up for 8 years, what do you mean she just appeared?
The villain did not just appear? She has been in the game since Legion?
@@mrmister5609 In this context, in this quest, she just appear. We know Little of the "new" her, it's pretty much the first time.
I don't think having a character being in jail and then coming to just randomly destroy a city is that compelling. I don't feel bad for dalaran, i don't feel anything about her appearence, i think the good guys aren't doing anything meaningful or trying, i just leave saying "oh ok".
(I know she's been there and it was kinda hinted she was strong, but there's a difference between kinda hinted and archimonde++++ level strong. It just needed a bit of buildup for the event to be good, like they did with so many other times when the new power-level was sudden)
I'm evaluating the event as a whole in the story, this is nothing when compared to even bfa undercity scenario.
The scene does nothing apart from saying "the villain is strong, dalaran is gone".
Then again, i liked the zones story, i liked her in the cutscene with the spider queen, i'll like her in the future, but here i don't think the event is well executed.
@@mrmister5609 She was not built up for 8 years stop this nonsense.
Not fair we need Dadgar :( ok I need him he's my favorite character
Me too!
She put Khadgar and Dalaran in the Dark Hearth, calling it.
RIP Khadgar. Forever Chadgar!
At first, Khadgar couldn't even scratch this pointy-eared creature, and then 25 homeless kick it to death.
It really broked my hearth to see Atiesh being broken. All that Legacy: Medivh, then Khagdar for all this years...
No... Khadgar.. Dalaran..:( i'm not playing anymore and not planning to, but It was painful to watch. He was the best and the last lore character i was still care about. Rest in peace, Khadgar, thank you for everything.. :(
2:11 They’ve been watching too much DB Super because Khadgar got full on Hakai’d there 😂
Khadgar is not dead. Remember how Varian died? Much better showcasing of a death scene. Here, he only lost a hand (maybe even not)
And btw why mages can't teleport themselves out of safety, but can teleport others?
Now I've remembered when Jaina teleported herself, Anduin, doggy and Alleria from the Undercity while Sylvanas blowing it up hm... 😅
did you not see the part where kadghar shot that huge ass laserbeam at Xalatath until he literally couldn't stand anymore?
Bro blew out all his mana and only regenerated enough for one teleport.
@@Olochgu From my memories making a portal for somebody else was less mana than teleporting yourself :D
1:14 Dang it.. Not again with Atiesh. Ok.. Who wants to go and find those pieces again?
Also this should've been called the "'Literal' Fall of Dalaran"
Maybe put a spoiler tag considering the game isn't even out yet for the non whales lol
Calling it now - they will bring back Khadgar as a raid boss later on - might say he was "teleported and corrupted, etc.".
But he is teleported lol
Honestly this would be even worse then letting him die right now and big injustice to his character to degrade him to a status of some corrupted raid boss. Khadgar is the OG character, as he was here since Wacraft 1. Even this cinematic looks like a cheap end for such a long-lasting and popular character, which is why I hope, it is not the end of him..
My dad works for Blizzard and he said Khadgar got turned into an ethereal and he'll return later
The Legion broke it 3 times and left some traces of it behind, Xal'atath came in, placed her big ball sacks on the table and said: "Nah, I'd erase it."
Omg r I p my mage we will miss you !!!
Let this scar signify the first blow against the mortal world. From this seal shall arise the doom of men, who, in their arrogance, sought to wield our fire as their own. Blindly they built their kingdoms upon stolen knowledge and conceit
Khadgar forgot to use arcane shield.
This evening was already dark for me, and now/then they kill Khadgar...
I'm leaning towards him still being alive, and Dalaran will eventually rebuild (again), but they just broke Atiesh (also again).
As much as I hated Voljin's forced death. This is just another level of silliness. Khadgar just died? He used all his power to stop Xal'Atah, yet he wasn't even able to harm her in the slightest. Then he was just killed. Aha. Outstanding storyline.
yea he just out after a blast, and he is the GUARDIAN. He should be able to cast 10000 spells and teleport mountains
Khadgar is not a Guardian
@@YGOHermitshe’s a void lord she’s as powerful as a titan
Is he really dead though?
Voljin got stabbed by a random demon nobody because he wasn’t paying attention. Khadgar at least saved Alleria and died trying to defend his city even if he failed. Sorry, but Voljin’s death was way dumber and far less inpactful.
i didn't think I'd panic at the sight of khadgar's fate tbh, I was wrong.
He's not dead. Either in the Void or if he's in the Shadowlands he bumps into you know who
informs her of the situation and out she comes to nuke everything in sight.
There's a plausible way out if the writers want an exit instead of killing him with finality.
oh man, i liked dalaran, why couldnt she blow up stormwind instead?
I genuinely teared up when Dalaran blew up. Even when general chat spoiled it, it still hit hard when I saw the cinematic myself. All those years spent there…
And chat spoiling it made it worse.
It's a bit more than splintered, it was basically vaporized, you are gonna need a microscope.
@@noshotz5955 as powerfull the staff is it probably protected itself wity its magic. Like it was the first time it was splitered
2:05 this was a little bit on the nose, Blizzard.
What's on the nose exactly?
@@Argronok0I’d assume it’s because they didn’t really show him die? Like his arm got disintegrated, but that’s it. He could still be alive lmao
@@Tylerzord1 Are you suggesting that he's now going to be fighting the void from within? Leading "The War Within" the void? O.o
Wait now that I look at it... Yes we don't see him entirely die, just his hand disintegrate. Silently hoping he comes back
KHADGAR DESERVE REALLY CINEMATIC!!!!!
A cgi at last, for one of the ancient characters of Warcraft
Thanks for the spoiler title goddamnit. I'm not even subbed and this shows up in my feed.
I guess khadgar got the varian treatment but with void instead of fel, poof up like smoke 😮💀
Well N'zoth was right. Only he could save our world.
"Xal'athah I presume?"
Correct as usual King Friday.
1:13 Oh no! Not the Stick!!!
Not gonna lie, but Khadgar's death has a lesser impact compared to Varian's death by Gul'dan in Legion. Perhaps it's because WoW players have spent more time and interacting with Varian compared to Khadgar.
It had less impact because he is not dead.
Like to hope maybe he got sucked into the void and still exists somehow, but who knows
Khadgar's "fly you fools" moment
o7
Oh come on. Khadgar can't make a dent but Alleria's one arrow makes her spooked?
Blizzard, you're so full of ****.
Where is Lord Khadgar, the Archmage who destroyed the Dark Portal with powerful magic in Warcraft 2?
1) He's become older since then. 2) OOM)
No Book of Medivh to save him now.
Now that Khadgar’s gone, time to bring Me’dan back.
Oh no, the McGuffin is gone😱
MEH, Dalaran's seen worse, we can rebuild
After all those years Dalaran was destroyed once again. But I don't suppose we will be able to rebuilt it.
I can say one thing: Xal'atath will suffer for what she's done with Khadgar!😡
I really don't think Dalaran was fully destroyed. The more i re-watch it it looks to me like she was sending it somewhere. Specially since Xal was in the blast herself.
Archimonde did it so much better!!!!That distruction was epic and iconic. This one is a joke, no greatness in it.
