My grandma and grandad got married at St.Anne’s church. You should have popped into the museum and shown my dads painting of the crosfields tower Dr.Reginald (Reg) Waywell a fascinating Warringtonian man artist author war hero and a man who shared galleries in Salford with L.S.Lowry.
@ well if you ever want to do a bimble on him I can supply you with all of the details. His dying words to me were ‘make me more famous’! Quite a character getting an honorary doctorate in his 90’s where the chancellor held a ceremony in his home. He was very reluctant to die at 95 saying ‘I’ve been given a very raw deal’ like Van Gogh he only had one ear in later life. Also a war veteran who was wounded by artillery. Very well known in Warrington. It was cruel how he went blind at 90 but it didn’t stop him bimbling. Send me an email address and I will give you enough information to do a vblog on him. He’s one of Warrington’s well known people.
