😆
did you check your board as a luggage? I imagine that most airlines don't allow skateboards as a carryon
I consulted several people and most said they were able to take them carry-on. Some people were forced to check them. We took our chances and were allowed to bring them carry-on. Our back up plan was to ask if we could gate check them like a baby seat or mobility walker.
@@MarktheLandlockedSurfer respect, beacause I imagine airlines like ryanair would charge like 50 euros if gate checked , probably more than the ticket itself. I haven't taken my chances yet! a little scurred
This is awesome so awesome
You just invented a new genre of skate video.
What setup are you riding in the movie ?
Using the @yowsurf Snappers deck with Meraki trucks, and I used Orangatang Love Handles and Shark Wheel California rolls at various points.
What's title of second song?
Alright Tokyo! By the Primrods
Awesome vid, bud. What setup are you using?
YOW Snappers surfskate, and I switched between Orangatang Love Handles and Shark Wheels California rolls during the trip.
Awesome
Naise vid! What surfskate u riding? Yow purkas?

Surfskate is the ONE

I also came to Portugal to skate and busted my ankle at the airport as soon as I arrived 💀💀*Bittersweet but glad to see someone making it 😝
Right at the airport? Nooooo. Were you trying something cool or just an unlucky accident?
@@MarktheLandlockedSurfer Tried out the slide stop which I’ve been nailing* on concrete but the buttery airport floors took me away 🥲😂
@@Nina94771 Noooo! You'll need to go back and get redemption
@@MarktheLandlockedSurfer You know it. Got a week and a half left and I can walk pretty fine now so maybe I will get some in! Got surf camp last week so will figure SOMETHING out
Holy shit this is RAD!!!
I really appreciate that 🙏
@@MarktheLandlockedSurfer 🤘🏻🤙
What's name song?
“All right Tokyo!” By a small independent Canadian band called The Primrods
Awesome! I just hope your trip ended better than Magellan's
Well I love converting people into surfskaters, but I took a much more passive approach than their crew and it seemed to go over better.
@@MarktheLandlockedSurfer No kidding, it would have been a difficult trip home for Polly too given when the crew got back to Portugal, their numbers had dwindled from 240 to 18 and they had lost 4-5 ships. All they had to show for it was a lot of cinnamon. The company then short changed them because they lost the ship. "Your father died, but he died so we could have cinnamon toast"-Mrs. Magellan
I tried surf skating, but it's not for me. I need the speed.
Are you a downhill longboarder? Regular skateboarders have tried my board at the park and are always amazed at how fast it is. Maybe the setup you tried wasn't ideal?
How long did you manage to ride in rhe airport before Security stopped you? Imagine trying to do that after 9/11 when paranoia was at its peak.
Honestly, speaking as someone who is of middle eastern descent who knows all about racial profiling at airports, I felt like them seeing me riding a skateboard made me seem less of a concern than if I were sitting and looking at a laptop. It is what it is. Maybe I should start bringing a skateboard with me on work trips too.
@@MarktheLandlockedSurfer you and I are breaking down stereo-type barriers. (I'm of Chinese descent in Australia). Soon you will get many more subscribers.
@@pokeypickle3 I love how diverse surfskating is because of how it has grown all over the world. Growing up in Ottawa when I was younger, I was often the only brown-skinned skateboarder but I certainly don't feel out of place in the surfskate world now.

The music does not match the images. Too aggressive. If you want music I can give you for free.
The monologue at the beginning almost got me to click away.
Cool
Getting to another country and trying unsafe skate tricks without wearing any protection - stupid thing. The risk not worth 28k youtube views. But vid is great. 👍
Just out of curiosity, which trick did you think wasn't safe? I actually worried I went too safe in this video and didn't push myself enough.
@@MarktheLandlockedSurfer basically any trick can go wrong. e.g. 5:27 even simple skating on the grass can throw you to side to the stairs if wheel hit some stone or hole. Just simple surf-pumping especially close to the edge of the road can go wrong. e.g 1:30 I'm doing LDP longboarding for 15 years, last 5 years I feel myself quite profi and had no incidents. I can do dancing on the board with closed eyes. ....But... 2 weeks ago I hit pavement so hard so I end up with broken elbow, because front track kingpin suddenly got broken. You never know man. Be safe.
As an example: ruclips.net/video/edNQc-bCdvE/видео.html - I've got similar hardware fail.
@@PeterFox-n2x My worst injuries have been from freak incidents like yours, like a wheel coming off of a borrowed board or a surfboard hitting me in the head. It is a sport full of risk. I don't agree with your assessment that it is stupid to do what I love while travelling. The mental health benefits I get from surfskating outweigh the injuries I have sustained. But I appreciate your concern and assure you that I am far more cautious than selectively edited video clips might suggest.
@@MarktheLandlockedSurfer yes, I got your point. I'm also skating sometimes abroad, but always wearing gloves, helmet, etc. bcs medical expenses can be high ;-)
