SMS isn't possible, this is an IP device. It can sent emails but unlikely it can generate a report on every attendance. It maybe more useful to use HIK Central to generate reports
Hi, Yes you can uses these as an intercom, it's setup the same way as the other outdoor stations. I'd suggest an indoor station monitor with the latest firmware on and run the wizard, it should then find the outdoor station.
If you have forgotten your password you should be able to use SADP tool to generate a code to sent to HIKVision, of if you have a the admin password then you can default or reset the device via the maintenance menu on the web page or Via iVMS

Can you also use this device as an intercom? Or will it always show ‘stranger’ face not recognized

You, would have to double check the specifications, but these terminals do have an option to do T&A
