- This session discusses ground-fault protection of equipment to have a fundamental understanding of this technology and where it is required. GFPE is defined in the NEC as "A system intended to provide protection of equipment from damaging line-to-ground fault currents by operating to cause a disconnecting means to open all ungrounded conductors of the faulted circuit. This protection is provided at current levels less than those required to protect conductors from damage through the operation of a supply circuit overcurrent device."
Lets learn more about equipment protection and how this technology can be used to save lives

Can the ground fault protection of equipment replaced with the short circuit protection of equipment in other words; the ground fault relay measuring the ground fault current (zero sequence current in the grounding conductor) to be replaced with over current relay measuring the overcurrent in the ungrounded conductors as the ground fault protection threshold is always high in which the fault current can be considered a short circuit current?
