  • This bur oak acorn made it through nine months of hell, and it's still kicking! I harvested these nine months ago, then they sat in a bag (should have planted them right away!) for seven months before I discovered that a few were growing in there! I promptly planted all of the ones with roots (eight of them) - of which four survived. The rest were poured into trays filled with planting medium and watered for awhile, but it appeared as though none were going to make it, so I abandoned them. Today, I went to toss the dried-out trays of acorns into the woods, and on the second tray I heard a nocking - it was an acorn with a root that had grown though one of the slots in the tray, and was swinging below the tray and knocking on the side! From they, I headed back and made this video...

Hi Mojo, that was really interesting let's hope it makes it and you know what they say about little acorns. BTW I was looking up some useful plants and one of them was pretty interesting ..a plant called catnip it's related to the mint family makes a nice tea and it's good for anxiety it's also a good repellent against moscitos you simply pick off a few leaves and rub on the skin.
