- The boiling water softens the plastic so you can push the backs on easily! 👌 I use size 20mm glitter eyes for my plush animals, and I’ll put the link in the comments! 🤗
A TOOL??? i been using and paining my hands this whole time…
Yes! soaking the backs in boiling water can help soften them up, but for more convenience, I use this safety eye jig to attach my eyes: www.etsy.com/listing/1259347414/safety-eye-gismo-circle-safety-eye-tool
same
Yeah! My first reaction was “There’s a tool for this?!”
Genius. To both using a tool and using the water!
Me too! Lol
Me using no tools or hacks: 👁️👄👁️
I've found only the backs for the 3D trapezoid eyes need a tool or trick to attach them.
Same pol
me having literal hurting fingers and indents because i also don’t use tools or hacks: 🤡
@@theresascrochetshopoh, the ones I use you just press on the backs.
Yh 😛
I always use the "sheer brute force" method
Same!
It's always the best one
Brute force I don't have 💀
Me
I use my teeth ;-;
Me never knowing that we needed a tool💀
Same
Lol here here
Yeah same 😭😭
same, only a good dose of bad words
Same😂😂😂
I'm ngl I usually just pop those babies on and move to the next step😅
I've found only the backs for the 3D trapezoid eyes need a tool or this boiling trick to attach them. :)
@@theresascrochetshop yeah I just have the ones that you push on and hope😅
I've never seen such large backs on the big safety eyes before, this is just what I've been looking for. Thank you for the resource!
So happy it was helpful!
I didn’t even know there was a tool 😅 I always just pop the back on and it’s always quite hard so I think I’ll try this next time!!
Great tip! I don't use a tool, just brute force. Thanks for sharing!
I think the safety backing is upside down in this video. If it's flipped around, the backing. sits plush against the crochet or fabric for a more secure fit.
What I do is I put the backings on the safety eyes then take a lighter and put it under the end of the eye for a few seconds then I use the side of the light to flatten the back of the eye. It looks like a lot but it's pretty quick takes a few seconds
It's a neat trick, but I've heard that it can cause the plastics to become brittle since the heat affects the integrity.
Putting a piece of fabric between the backing and the eye is supposed to be a good way of securing them too.
@@OrigamiFanClubthanks for the tip 😊
The cat: 👁️👄👁️
It's actually a bat! 😂
@@MamaTata86welp it’s a cat for now
@@MamaTata86I thought it was a cat also! 😅
Ingenious! Thank you.
That cat head is so purrfect ❤
sometimes even brute force won't do, especially for large eyes. I usually use scissors to just go around the hole but it takes like 40 mins or so and it's really frustrating, this is super helpful :)
Omg, thank you for the trick! It's so hard to pop them in when using chunky yarn, this is definitly going to help!
Me using just my bear hands to put them in 😂.
There are tools for this?!??! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I've found only the backs for these 3D trapezoid eyes are really difficult to attach, so it could be different types of washers! :)
@@theresascrochetshop I will keep that in mind thank you. Still useful hack to know.
🧸 👐🏾 😂😂😂
{‘’’} RAWRRRR {‘’’}
😂😂😂
@@theresascrochetshopthere are trapezoid one?!?
Awhhhh it’s so CUTE
Oh my God that's so cute❤❤❤❤
Only started using the eyes last week. The 8mm were easy to use. Didn't know they had tools.
Yeah, for the most part you don't really need a tool, I think it could be useful if you run a small business and need to make a lot of items fast or have hand/wrist problems.
I'm trying this rn with 40mm backing They are so thick and so hard!! Even with tools they are impossible! ;^;
Those eyes omg so low down it’s adorable
The pain in my thumbs from forcing these on is crazy, never knew there was a hack, let alone a tool for it
I did not know you needed a tool
The kitty head is adorable!
Where did you get this pattern from?
Wish I saw this two days ago, before I hurt my thumb trying to push those in! Didn't know there were tools or hacks! 😅
So adorable
WHY IS THE HEAD SO CUTE WITH THE EYES IM CRYING.DO U HAVE A DHOP WHERE I CSN BUY THIS
WHAAAT? dude, i fuck up my hands every time. i didn’t even know there was a tool!! thank you!
Thanks for the help.😊❤
Thanks! :3
Они у Вас получаются живыми и весёлыми, Вы молодец!
Thank you!
Now I’m really interested in what using a tool looks like! I never knew there was a tool
Muito obrigada por ensinar, já estava sem saber como fazer isso, não é a mesma maneira de colocar os olhos pequenos.❤️
I struggled to use some of these a couple of days ago. This would have been so helpful!
Useful👍
Great tip! Thanks.
Thank you for this tip, i have difficulty attaching them if the holes are too small, i didn't know there was a tool for it though. I'll remember this though ❤
That's neat
So cute!

Me sacrifycing my nails using no tools to pop the backs on 👁️👄👁️
Texas: AWWWWW THAT KITTEN IS SO CUTE I WANT TO ADOPT IT❤❤❤❤❤
actually the back thing is supposed to be facing the other way, its much easier to put on and also more secure
She is putting them on correctly, if you put them on the way you're saying to, then they don't "sink" (the washer she is using is called a sinker washer) into the yarn. They sit above the yarn and don't look as good.
I want one❤❤❤❤❤ I want more Cute Stuff
It would look cuter with small black dot eyes
I think the backs are suppose to go on the other way. It makes it a tighter squeeze on the eyeballs so they won't fall out.
So cute cat🩷🥰
Thank you so much it was so helpful
I’ve been making little cuts in them to make it easier… didn’t know there was a tool for that
Aww so cute❤😊
I baught some and I was making a snake and I put them on in the car 🫢am I strong 😁
Could be! :) Safety eyes have lots of different types of washers. It's mainly these large 3D eyes that have the washers that can't be pressed on easily without a tool.
i have never chroected before (Well tried but failed ) but this is such a cute way to make a beanie boo!
Thanks for this hack!❤! BTW would u pls let me know what mm of saftey eyes did u use? Is it 20mm or 22mm or smtg?
These are 20mm eyes!
I might order 13 for my birthday
I’ve always but the backs on backwards as it’s easier to get it in place then though it’s definitely not as structurally good but for things that won’t be so well loved way better
Good to know!
I like to cut a little bit on the side so it's easier :)
I used an empty magnetic screwdriver to press the piece over the eyes. It was hard! Going to try this next time.
Why does this song give 2018 vibes
Cool❤❤❤❤
Woah! :0 are those the same eyes that thay use for the beanie babies?
I just use the body of a ballpen. Same ballpen i make notes for the pattern. I just put my entire weight on the pen. Make sure it is big enough for the back of the eyes though
I didn't understand why my eyes were falling out on my earlier works, it seems like i thought i locked it but not really. Tried to pry open the eyes from the back on a recent work and it came off!! Seems like i really need to hear another click and reaaaalllly try and tug on the lock just to make sure it will not come off
Thanks
Thank you very much!
Ty! Washers are ABSOLUTE (bad word)!!!
Oooo, cool
I always used my scissors handle to pinch it
How do you dispose of the water safely afterwards? It seems like that could be potentially dangerous, like putting paint down the sink
I always just pop mine on by using the table, but this is great if you lack the finger dexterity.
Looks crunchy, might eat one later
If necessary, i cut the inner circle a little bit if its too tight, and it works well :) Like 3 cuts
Such a cute head! Is this a cat?
This is a bat head. Though I have a cat pattern coming soon too!
Thanks!
THANK YOU
I just pushed them on until they were tightly on... never thought about hot water...
I was today years old when i found out I was in fact not supposed to use my finger to push them on and break a nail while I'm at it.
I honestly had no clue there was a tool, omg 😂
i always wondered what the intimidating spike was that came with my saftey eyes.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Глазик кладу на мягкую подложку. Беру плоскогубцы и молоток, плоскогубцами с изнанки зажимаю стержень и бью сверху молотком
Wait tools? What tool is/was used for this? Been making amigurumi sine 2003 never used any tools for the eyes.
I didn’t know people used tools!!😂😂I have always toucherd my hands
I didn't used to have a tool, but after getting one recently I don't know if I can go back to using my hands. Also if I had time to boil water for just 2 washers, I might as well spend that time to go get a tool anyway :/
Okay, tool aside, where do you buy those eyes?
I use the back of a ballpen (cap removed)
oh my god and I've been struggling for literal years oh my goddddd
Where do you guys find safety eyes that are difficult to put on it take off? No matter how many different searches i do, or how many sets I've ordered... It's always the same , they look cheap & DEFINITELY DO NOT FEEL LIKE "SAFETY" Eyes!
Ive certainly never seen any like these in this video. Please share your links!!! Ty in advance
Ok... I've always put them on with the concave side going outward!!! No tool!!! And sometimes they are so hard to snap on!!! Now I know!!! 🙀
I usually do that 👁🫦👁
Wait, there's a tool? I'm definitely trying warming up the caps next time though.
lmao, i always ask my boyfriend to do it for me, didn't know there were tools
wow that's why not sticking for me, thanks for tips.
Woow
Is that a crocheted cat because if it is where can I find it on your shop❤
Me, putting the backs on backwards this whole time 😵💫
Science behind this:
The white backs when put in boiling water, due to thermal expansion, expand and become slightly bigger and i easier to fix. When it cools, it contracts and reduces to its original size.
How do I get the white thing off the eyes?
Really asking is that the way they go I always thought the plunger faces the other way. Does it lock differently that way?
I’ve never heard or seen a tool to put these eyes on before.
Awwwwww
