How to Insert Safety Eyes for Amigurumi

If you’re new to amigurumi or making crochet dolls, figuring out how to use safety eyes can be a challenge. You also have to decide between all of the amigurumi eye options - embroidered, crocheted or safety eyes. Safety eyes are the easiest option, especially for beginner amigurumi crocheters.

Her washers/backings were flat! So lucky! Any safety eyes I buy in the multi shape packs are like a common bowl shape and no matter how hard I press (and trust me I am very strong) because it’s in that bowl shape instead of flat it won’t CLICK when you have the yarn in between. SOOOO if anyone wants a trick on how to fix THAT I recommend getting nail clippers and trimming around the bottom of the washers just a little bit before popping them in. IT WORKS OK! Just do it if you don’t have Flat washers like she does!

My all time favorite hooks for amigurumi are the Clover Amour hooks. They are super strong and very comfortable to crochet with. My most used hook size is the size C 2.75mm hook - amzn.to/34muLX5
