Pushkin's Onegin is a compulsory reading in Russian schools. I thought an adequate translation of this poem is a mission impossible. I see now I was wrong

Thanks for making this unknown (by me) version available. It's infinitely easier to read and listen to than my paper copy of the novel which was translated by someone else. Stephen Fry's narration is glorious, as always, and brings the tale to life.

True. Although not Russian nor English are my first language, I was enchanted by translation beside the supreme art of Stephen Fry. ❤
I thought the same. I love this translation. It certainly does Pushkin justice.
Eugene Onegin might just be the most important work of Russian literature, period. I know it's underappreciated in the West, which is a shame.

I really like this translation - keeps the sense of the original, with its jaunty, slightly mocking tone. Stephen Fry is a great reader.
