@@stewartlancaster6155 There's British accent, just as there are American, Irish, South African, Australian, New Zealand, Canadian, etc accents. Be humbly informed.

Pushkin's Onegin is a compulsory reading in Russian schools. I thought an adequate translation of this poem is a mission impossible. I see now I was wrong

True. Although not Russian nor English are my first language, I was enchanted by translation beside the supreme art of Stephen Fry. ❤

I thought the same. I love this translation. It certainly does Pushkin justice.

Eugene Onegin might just be the most important work of Russian literature, period. I know it's underappreciated in the West, which is a shame.

The brilliance of fry has the ability to take the mind away into any book and forget about the mundane day to day if only we had people like him in the education system we may all be better educated as a society

I really like this translation - keeps the sense of the original, with its jaunty, slightly mocking tone. Stephen Fry is a great reader.

i like it more in this translation than in russian hah. and yeah, you're right, it's just on point.

Oh how happy I am to find this! My favorite Stephen Fry reading Onegin! I have read (and memorized) Onegin in Russian but excited for English version as well. As long as it’s Stephen Fry reading it! ❤️ Thank you, whoever you are, for this video/audiobook!

that's pretty awesome - I've read it a couple of times in Russian but never committed it to memory.

Thanks for making this unknown (by me) version available. It's infinitely easier to read and listen to than my paper copy of the novel which was translated by someone else.
Stephen Fry's narration is glorious, as always, and brings the tale to life.

I just finished Hofstadter’s sublime translation. I’m looking forward to acquiring Falen’s rhythmic decantation to superimpose over this shimmering audiobook.
