Thank you for uploading this wonderful story. Michael Caine remains the most genuine and tender hearted actor, humane being that ever was. His sense of unabashed humility often brings me to tears in his interviews and much more so right now. His gratitude for his successes has never wavered. The Man Who Would Be King remains my all time favorite movie.
Thank you for never giving up. Your struggles as a 23 year old mirror some of my own. I feel as though I’ve hit my lowest point, but you managed to turn it all around. You carved your own path ❤
That you so much for sharing this wonderful audio. Sir Michael has brought countless hours of pleasure to millions worldwide and to hear him reading from his own autobiography is another treasure. Thank you for everything Sir Michael.
I turned this on about 3 am, thinking I’d fall asleep while listening. It’s now nearly 5 am and I’ve laughed and been so impressed I’ve raised a glass of wine to this brilliant man. Bless you Sir. They don’t make them like you anymore. 🍸🍾
This is the first audio tape I’ve ever listened to As a Bermondsey boy It truly brought back memories of my past And how I miss the elephant Great stuff
I was deeply moved. Haven’t read either biography or autobiography of a modern character in a long long time that captures life and it’s mysterious meaning close to this. My background seemed similar, perhaps that’s it, or that mysterious calling from within that’s in his mind and won’t relent and inspires from nothingness to gratitude and contentment. To the young and old I yell from my heart - NEVER EVER GIVE UP. Sending love to Michael Caine. I didn’t know you when you were so successfully productive as I was on my own journey, but I know and understand you now - inspiration is never too late. Thank you.
Grew up with Michael Caine and all the wonderful British actors of the 60s and 70s. MC is absolutely unique in so many ways, his voice for starters. Its made him a very wealthy, famous and esteemed man, instantly recognizable anywhere in the world. Sad that he has had to retire due to his age, but what a volume of work he has! Kudos Mr Caine, for a lovely narrative, you're the best ❤❤❤
Sure. Jeff Bridges springs immediately to mind; Sally Field; I'm sure I could come up with a few more. Please don't misunderstand me, I admire Caine a great deal, I just don't think it's necessary to denigrate every other actor to admire him.
absolutely wonderful, I'm in tears listening to the last part about his brother David, ,I will never watch another Michael Caine movie with out thinking of this, thanks for the upload ,mrnobodysprincess
To misquote Michael 'this blew my bloody doors off!' ...I teared up when he recounted his mum's passing, and listened to the whole reading in 1 sitting, captivated.
And now we face a time when once again, taxes are rising and rising... Loved listening to this and really like the way he talks about how the social systems and political decisions of the UK over the decades had such a huge impact on his experience of life and that of his parents and siblings, his own, family and also the decisions that he made.
On Audible, there is a book narrated by him called 'Blowing The Bloody Doors Off'. There is also a biography about him. Not written by him, nor narrated by him, but very good. 😊
I've never been a follower as I found him to be a bit wide boy - but i take that back - I think this is a man of life - a man of dreams or loves, integrity and wisdom - I'm 58 and I'm glad i stubbled on this as i love his voice, his humour and his honesty - nice one Mr Caine God has blessed you and you have used his gifts wisely and cleverly - i so wish i could do the same - thank you for uploading this xx
I saw Zulu around 69 whilst camping with the scouts in Deal and loved this actor from then on, I think it was because he was a working class Londoner and I identified with him, he was us and I knew it
A wonderful life story. Sir Michael Caine is a national treasure and a wonderful character. Thank heavens we have people like him. A living legend without a doubt.
You gotta love this guy. He’s so down to earth. Man, so many hard times and disappointments in his career! He doesn’t talk about his first marriage. His website doesn’t either.
People now mostly have no idea in what poverty people almost always have lived and what hardships and shortages, cold and discomforts they had to endure.. Now, after the levels of comfort and supplies exponentially increasing for the first time ever in non-mediterranean regions, after only decades, in great numbers people already have become brainless and are merely degenerated.
Educating Rita was GEM I watch it regularly . MC WAS BRILLIANT JW SHONE LIKE A DIAMOND.. ❤️❤️ I MUCH preferred it to Tender Mercies.. Although Robert Duvall is a favourite of mine...I have loved every word of this. I felt as though he was talking only to me.. Michael you are the Eighth wonder of the World...💥
Mr Caine is the embodiment of all that the so called ‘celebrities’ of today aspire to being……a true Film Star who took nothing for granted and through sheer bloody mindedness and determination (with a more than generous portion of talent and hard work) became the pillar of the acting profession he is today. Who would have thought that a line of dialogue relating to the removal of a pair of scruffy rear doors at the back of an even scruffier van would go down in cinematic history ! But such is the way of genius and legend.
I feel like the older Michael Caine gets, the more he looks like Maggie Smith as she gets older. Look at the most up-to-date pictures of the two of them and ask yourself if they couldn't pass as brother and sister.
It's too bad when the Queen of England came to visit Los Angeles they had to have the formal dinner on a soundstage in LA ; the event could have been held in a grand home like San Simeon . I love the joke he told and it was really cool the way he said the queen asked him to tell jokes and they spent the night going back and forth telling jokes to each other . It's a shame that taxes were so high in England for the rich . I was appalled at how little some of the top earners were actually worth worth . I like the way he explains about being homesick . Very sad about his half-brother who he never knew about and strange that his mother never ever confided in him and his other brother about it . Very tragic for his brother to have suffered like that . And yes truly bizarre the name of the Institute . I like the way the ending of his book is so genuine and heartfelt
I recently read "What's It All About," and I hated to end it. It was written in 1992, and I thought so much more had happened in his life since then. So glad he wrote another. What a guy! What a life!
I love listening to his voice. Have listened to this for hours and hours. Same story. Such a lovely story teller. Lovely man 💗
I read the book and heard it in his voice.😊 So glad to find he wrote another book. He's a hilarious storyteller. What a life! What a guy!

Thankyou so much for uploading, and to Sir Mike for narrating.
Thanks for this one Michael Caine and uploader.
I got my appreciation for Michael from my Dad.
I'll be showing him this.. Just great.
Thank you for never giving up. Your struggles as a 23 year old mirror some of my own. I feel as though I’ve hit my lowest point, but you managed to turn it all around. You carved your own path ❤
What a wonderful life story brilliantly told, thank you so much for sharing it with us Michael, good luck to you and your family mate.
That you so much for sharing this wonderful audio. Sir Michael has brought countless hours of pleasure to millions worldwide and to hear him reading from his own autobiography is another treasure. Thank you for everything Sir Michael.
Sir. Michael Caine is such a great example to everyone of the importance of being Earnest. He is much admired by all. Lovely man.

ME Brown
Same thing just happened to me. I'm going to be useless tomorrow.
I did the same, just finished listening to it at 5.24 am. I just had a glass of water.
❤❤❤
Love the man - what a unique and superb talent. He defines what is meant by a dedicated professional. One of the greats.
Brilliant what a superb man and what a life….thank you Michael for years of entertaining me and my family..
This is the first audio tape I’ve ever listened to

What a hard worker........always striving to gain experience and education.......reads many, many books.
We were lucky to have Caine live in our English town for years. What an amazing actor and human.
Can you name one actor today who has as much grace and honesty as Michael Caine? Neither can I.
I'm sure there's a lot. What I do think, is that after the mid 70's, films & the whole world of acting and how they are presented, changed.

Realised what a good man Michael Caine was after appearing on the Parkinson chat show in the UK. Proud of his past and present.
Fabulous to listen to. Thank you for sharing.
My mother stuck down my ears as well. Thanks Mum!
Thank you for doing this I really enjoyed listening to it.
What a lovely human being Micheal Caine is
I don’t know when I have been so moved by an autobiography. Michael is an exceptional character and a very human being.
Excellent! Thank you so much for posting.
I really enjoyed that. A typical 20th century story. ✌️
That was wonderful. Thank you so much.
Nvm.
Wonderful - thanks for sharing.
More I listen to this the more I like Michael Caine. Just so down to earth.
I always liked Michael as an actor, but reading his autobiography made me like him even more as a person. Plus, he's a hilarious storyteller.😄
Thank you SO much for posting this - I bought it on cassette about 25 years ago and have been wanting to hear it again for ages.
Two hours fifty minutes well spent.
Give yourself time for this one!
I already read the book and loved it so much, it's great to hear it all over again in Michael's voice.😊
OMG Masterpiece Theater reference! Loved that show! Great audiobook! Thank you so very much!
To misquote Michael 'this blew my bloody doors off!' ...I teared up when he recounted his mum's passing, and listened to the whole reading in 1 sitting, captivated.
What a beautiful story from a beautiful man thank you Michael Caine
Thank you!! He is amazing and so unique!!
I think he’s also proving we are ALL unique.
And now we face a time when once again, taxes are rising and rising...
Loved listening to this and really like the way he talks about how the social systems and political decisions of the UK over the decades had such a huge impact on his experience of life and that of his parents and siblings, his own, family and also the decisions that he made.
What a great listen...interesting lovely guy by the sounds of it.
What a wonderful story told beautifully by a wonderful man. Where is the continuation?
On Audible, there is a book narrated by him called 'Blowing The Bloody Doors Off'. There is also a biography about him. Not written by him, nor narrated by him, but very good. 😊
Respect to Michael that he more than held his own against Laurence Olivier in marvellous Sleuth!
Olivier's patronising " compliment" to Caine could have warranted a headbutt!!
A respectable man. A man one is able to respect.

Enjoyed that. Very well told. Thank you.
Superb. Have to listen to Michael a second time, maybe more.
Don Diego Vega he did mention his first marriage didn’t he? And his little girl Dominique who he sort of abandoned..then lost the plot
apart from mentioning her in 49-52mins and saying he walked out on her and she is a lovely women ;)
What a life ... he worked for evérything ....
People now mostly have no idea in what poverty people almost always have lived and what hardships and shortages, cold and discomforts they had to endure.. And appreciated and took in everything along the way
I transferred this to CD and still play it regularly in the car
Brilliant audiobook ... an honest depiction of his hard life.
Really enjoyed that. Thanks so much.

This is in respect of all the people he mentions including himself. “We shall not meet their likes again” so sad and so moving !😭🙏
Thank you for this.
So real. So quaint. So merged with its historical context. So accent. "She was only fif-teen-yahs-olt".
Thanks Michael
This ia an old recording. Not a lot of people know that.
LOL
Is that why it has all this static ?
@Porosus8 okay thanks
Porosus8 .
Always funny! 😂
Beautiful ❤
a true gem 💎 in the crown of British film and worldwide what a wonderful man and world class actor.. 🙏
He needs to do another book!
He has.
He's written 2 more
✨👍✨✨👏👏👏
👏✨👍✨👏✨👍
Wonderfully Brillante
Sir Michael ✨Cain👍
Rushes = The bits of film of just a day's work that are rushed back for you to look at to see if everything turned out alright on the screen.
Loved this
I've really enjoyed this . Shame he did not talk about his brother ❤💚💛💙💜🇮🇪
He's a fascinating man

This is soo good, absolutely brilliant.
Always liked Michael since his appearance in Zulu. He’s much older now. God bless sir.
Love him
One class act
What a sweetheart.
Still got your sense of humor.
What a man
Inspiring, poignant and moving.
Very cool.
Interesting man.
The Man Who Would Be King is my favorite movie…. A classic of an old style of filmmaking.
Sensational
Can you post any other books by him?
Michael where did it all go ? It went by so quickly.
Michael recently said he was still insecure after his knighthood
Its quite a sword to shoulder!
Dang, these A.I. voices are getting really good
Thanks is great
I love all his movies but, specially the one he did with Robert Duvall, The Secondhand Lions.
❤❤❤❤❤
Get Carter, IMHO was his best performance and Harry Brown
Ah, Michael. It’s not God but opportunity met with skill/talent and preparedness.
With God's help for sure.
I had this on cassette too 😛
end of story brilliant
What the hell is going on with audio
What's with all the cracking noise on the audio, I unfortunately had to discontinue listening.
Wow what a story
"Guernsey, off the South Coast of England"... 😊
Short book, is this full version?
lobster whisperer no. If you listen to it all he misses out loads of years and tells you to buy the book if you want to know
I recently read "What's It All About," and I hated to end it. It was written in 1992, and I thought so much more had happened in his life since then. So glad he wrote another. What a guy! What a life!
I think we had the same moms. Only she told me walk up behind the bully and hit him from behind. Then keep my mouth shut.
