I know this comment is 9 years late, But I have a Troy bilt 2840 and I installed a fuel shut off in my fuel line as well. When you go to shut the motor down, move the throttle lever to the lowest setting before it shuts off. Then shut the fuel shut off and the motor will suck all the fuel out of the carburetor and the little bit of fuel line. As long as you are going to run it the following year the fuel in the tank does not get to the carburetor. So the carburetor does not get gummy, and with letting the engine cool down you will not blow head gaskets .owner’s manual says to let the engine cool down before you shut it off.

I have the 2620 and it works really good. I did have to replace the carb this year because i used ethanol fuel too much but now i use non-ethanol on all my small engines
That is a big snow blower. I just bought the heated grips for a Storm 2620. I had them on an Ariens 1028 years back that I sold. Miss having warm hands when the wind is really blowing. Good stuff Ryan!
I purchased this machine in 2009. It has been great. No problems at all. It is now 2014, and until I watched this video, I never knew how to turn on the heated handles. lol. I never knew there was an on/off switch for that. I always whore gloves anyway. I paid $899.00 at Lowes. It was $968.67 with tax. pricy, but it's a great machine. I've seen more expensive blowers. It's all a personal preference. You can find a good machine for cheaper.
I will probably get this in a couple of days, I can get it brand new no interest for 18 mths. That deal ends in 2 days, figures. So its $900 plus tax and delivery($65), might give a friend a few bucks to get it here(lol) I am really excited but obviously the snow will wait( its May!) I like your mod with the fuel line that's a great idea. Thanks for the video, I can't shovel anymore. Any place carries that fuel shut off valve, I guess.
I've had one since 09, the chute joystick is a cheap joke. ice builds up and make it hard to turn, then on the joystick s shaft there are u-joints with small shear pins that will break rendering the joystick useless. very frustrating to use. I miss the old coil system. I also added some home made extenders made from old tire side wall, to fill the considerable gap between the impeller paddles and the barrel. added easily 25' to the throwing. starts first pull every year with stabil added. drive and auger cables tended to stretch prematurely, needed constant adjustment. I've used it 7 winters now on a 5 acre country farm house. I've had to do some maintenance and repairs, but it's a solid machine, just plowed through 4' drifts this last weekend. My wife uses the electric start, but this thing pops off 1st, every time. I store with a full tank to avoid condensation and rust, stabil in last tank, go get the non-ethanol blend for all your yard equipment.
What if you use ethanol free 91 octane gas. Do you still need to empty the tank as the ethanol content is zero, which will save the fuel lines and carburetor from gumming.
You shouldn't have to.. just follow the instructions on the stabilizer product that you use. I still wouldn't let it sit for more then one year, even with the stabilizer.... I use Star Tron Enzyme Fuel Treatment, I have heard its a lot better then STA-BIL... Thanks For Watching

How come it doesn't reverse as fast as it does in drive going forward? Or better yet maybe I'm doing something wrong.
There are two reverse gears and 5(or 6) forward. So youll have more speed going forward.
On your Troy bilt 2840 storm does the Shute stay still or does it move around while your blowing snow.
