A day of contrasts and a little tiredness creeping in -- all understandable. It's been an epic adventure and lots of miles covered. Nonetheless you both saved the day and some lovely drone footage of the Peak District. You both need a holiday to recover ;-) Thank you for another great episode 🙂
Yeah after 4 weeks of being on the move a couple of days of rest would be nice 😁. Really glad we did the Peak District, was tempted to just head back to wales after leaving the Yorkshire dales. Haha yeah we could do with a holiday lol -don’t think we will get one though 🤣 Thanks for watching 😎👍🏻
The roads are closed because the council have finally got around to fixing last winter’s potholes. Bakewell tarts do come from Bakewell and they don’t have cherries on them. I hope you enjoyed your trip through my part of the country 😀
Potholes getting fixed!! That's a very lucky piece of road 😉 We we had a great time in the Peak District it was also a nice time of the day to ride it.
Hey James, glad you’ve come to love the English countryside! There’s so many fantastic places and we have been happy to be able to share a few of them 😊👍🏻

WOW, Bradford !!!! What an experience that must have been! It would have to be an exceptional reason for me to drive my car never mind my ride my bike through the city centre of Bradford. Being born in Bradford and spending a number of years living there I have to say it has changed beyond recognition from when I was a youngster. We have now escaped and live a quieter life in the countryside. I get your take on Derbyshire Peak District. It’s somewhere I don’t tend to gravitate to on the bike for some reason. Really enjoyed the tour and seeing all the places you have visited, and laughed at some of the place name pronunciations. They are such a localised “thing” and who’s to say the way we say it is wrong or right apart from a local.🥴 looking forward to the next adventure.
Yeah it was an experience to say the least! 😮. That is interesting of you to say as we thought that it looked like place that was once full of character, sad that it's been left to get on that condition. We are both more happy in the countryside so perhaps that didn't help our experience 😁. Thanks for saying that, there is literally no way anyone that has not come across some of those place names before should be expected to pronounce them correctly as they are not said phonetically 😂. Can't wait to share the next big adventure which we will filming in the next few weeks. Thanks for watching 😎👍
I'm very lucky to have friends that live right on the edge of the Peak district, so I pop up there for a visit and a little ride round the area fairly regularly.
Hi Fay, welcome to the channel. Thanks very much for your kind words and we are happy to hear you enjoyed the video 😊 Here’s the full playlist : ruclips.net/p/PLl_mRzVHVQ0zUtFe7yIi6rO-2-k465D31&si=SKjrW7kRhQnY-ngL
It's actually Bakewell puddings that come from Bakewell. The Bakewell tart, the one that's filled with icing with a cherry on top, is a commercial derivative of it and you can't get them in Bakewell. They're very protective about their local cuisine round there. Did you manage to get through the Snake Pass without hitting the closure? Right now it's closed for two weeks for repairs and because they think there will be a landslide.
So sorry you had to experience Bradford, lol. I've been through it once, that was enough! Off to North Wales next that will be a treat, I particularly love mid Wales, Rhayader area and the Elan valley is a stunning area and great on a bike too! North Wales is stunning too but it can get very busy as I'm sure you both know. Take care and see you on the next instalment! Tony.
Hey Toni, yeah one time is enough for us too 😁. North Wales was fun but unfortunately the weather was not with us this time as you will seen in the next episode 😆
Great to see you in the Peak district, You did miss out on a very nice view and walk trail at Monsal Dale - Monsalhead Viaduct great spot to relax and enjoy the view.
Walking trail sounds nice, there were so many times on this tour that we wished we had more time to go and experience the places by foot too. Still good to know where to return to next time 😊👍🏻
North Yorkshire, Wales and the Peak District all had the same issue around the turn of the millennium. That being bikes and some cars taking to the roads irresponsibly and the end result was a dramatic increase in collision numbers. Even worse, many were so called born again bikers who had the money to buy the latest sports bikes but didn't have the experience or training to cope with them. And there were a lot of serious injuries and deaths. Each region therefore took their own measures to deal with this. North Yorkshire encouraged training and education, Wales increased police presence and adopted a zero tolerance policy, some say to actually discourage bikes from going there and the Peak District made the decision to blanket the area with 50mph zones.
Ah yeah, the classic a few ruining it for the many. Yeah that born again biker thing must have been a problem, 1000cc sports bikes of today are absolute beasts of machines! That would explain the 50 zones, took a while for my pre programmed 60mph and 30mph mental pre-sets to reset lol 🤣
Thanks! If we had more time then yeah it would be nice to go at a slower pace but we always try and make the most of the time we have and see as much as possible. Our theory is to see as much as possible and go back to the places we really liked. There were some long days for sure but don’t regret any of it 😊
Thanks! Graf you enjoyed it and even better it brought back fond memories. The 400F is a great looking bike, the 4 pipes out of the cylinders looks awesome -take some polishing though 😁. Thanks very much, just a few more episodes to go on this playlist before the next adventure. Cheers 😊👍🏻
Hi guys, great video. Peak district is very pretty. Lovely towns and villages. My nearest big city is Glasgow and I only go there if I have to, but Bradford made it look a bit better 😢 The drone footage was amazing as always ❤ .. who is controlling the drone?
Hi Ruby, thanks very much. Yeah some really quaint villages nestled in the peak District 😊. We went into Glasgow earlier on in this tour and we liked it, can’t say the same for Bradford though lol. When we are riding Emily controls the Drone from the pillion seat.
I was going to ask but didn't want to intrude because I didn't think it sounded like you didn't have Swiss accents, and the family visit makes sense. ☺️ I actually did my MSc with Bradford University but living in London and hardly visited but it's the sort of place which could be amazing with money invested in it but it's a little run down at the moment.
Hi, yeah we are both from North Wales but have been living in Switzerland for that last several years. Yeah you are right with no investment these places do easily get run down which is a shame as it's former glory is evident.
The Cat and Fiddle shut as a pub in 2014 on Xmas Eve. It's a distillery now. Forest Distillery. They make gin and whisky and there's a shop on site. They also do tours.
Ahh that makes sense as we didn’t remember it ever being a distillery (it’s been a while since we were here last!). Have you tried the Whisky? The tour would have been great 👍🏻
@@SeanandEmily Not tried the whisky. It's a bit on the pricey side for my budget, unfortunately. I'll just have to stick with my occasional Scottish single malt - Ardmore or Jura for me. Maybe the odd Lagavulin.
Great video of my local stomping ground. Sadly you witnessed in Bradford what is becoming the norm in many British provincial towns. The Snake Pass and the Cat and Fiddle are infamous for their nasty accidents, hence the 50 mph limit! The Snake Pass is actually named after a local Coat of Arms rather than the curvy nature of the road. I'm sad the Peak District seemed to let you down. Unfortunately it's getting worse; villages and beauty spots are getting very crowded and people in general are getting more fractious. I hear Switzerland is nice...... 😂 Thanks again for your great videos 🙏
Hi, thanks! Great to hear you enjoyed the video. Really sad to see what Bradford has become, looked like it was full of character in a bygone era. Yeah from what people have said that road had become a bit of a racetrack! -a few ruining it for the many. Ahh okay! That’s interesting about the cost of arms so thanks for the info 👍🏻 The peak district was great but with all the roadworks and wrong turns (our fault) it felt a bit stop and start, plus we started the day in the Lake District so was a big day 😁. Haha yeah Switzerland ain’t bad 😉 Glad you enjoy the videos and thanks for leaving a comment 😎🙌🏻
@@SeanandEmily yeah, the Coat of Arms involved a Snake and is connected to Chatsworth Hall Estate and the Duke of Devonshire. There used to be a pub at the bottom of the Snake Pass aptly called the Snake Pass Inn! The Peak District is lovely and full of great places it's just a pity there's so many roadworks and crowds!! All the best 👌
Once in the country the views were fantastic ,I could hear the frustration coming through when in Bradford and talking about home ,but glad the rest of our ride cheered you both up. It’s strange how poor phone reception still is in places ,we were away for a weekend literally 20 minutes from Glasgow 10 minutes from Greenock and had zero service on the phone.
Can simplifies with your feelings for Bradford but sorry you didn’t find Derbyshire so nice as it’s our motorcycle playground and in one part or another frequently. it is very busy most weekends but I wouldn’t let it put me off visiting. Love the channel and we have loved watching your travels around the UK.
Yeah being stuck in traffic for an hour through Bradford didn’t put us in the best of moods 😁. We did enjoy Derbyshire, in fact it was a breath of fresh air to finally get out of the city traffic. Unfortunately the route we wanted to go the road was closed but still we enjoyed riding through the Peak District, great having roads like that on your doorstep and the villages were really quaint -looked like plenty of great pubs on the route too 😊. We appreciate your kind words and it’s great to hear you have enjoyed the tour 😊👍🏻
The peak district has some fabulous (and infamous) roads (snake pass, cat n fiddle etc) but they now have low speed limits and draconian enforcement on them. No doubt brought about by many accidents because of people driving/riding excessively fast and coming to grief! It is a beautiful part of the world though and well with a visit, just don't expect the riding to be as you think!
Hi, yeah it really does have some great roads! Yeah the few ruining it for the many with racetrack speeds. Still makes for a nice relaxing ride through some beautiful countryside. Was so refreshing to get out of the city and into the Peak District 😊
Allthough this was not the route you planned it looked good for me and you were still having fun. And you might have a nice soft sheepskin on your seat to protect Emily's presious bottom. 😎👍😉 To be honest we have on in the sidecar and on the bike. Works perfectly in cold and warm days. I can really recommend it.
Bradford, such a sh%t hole. Find Halifax and Huddersfield the nicer way to go. Shame the route messed up, so much better places to see around there. Safe riding 👍
Thanks for watching, yeah was trying to get to the Peak District as fast as we could - the irony is if we had stuck to the original plan it probably would have been quicker lol 😎👍
Sheeeeeesh .... Bradford... you escaped with your belongings... Phew. Nice insight to Snake Pass, thank you. We have stayed in Castleton in The Peaks which was stunning, Ladybower reservoir was close too. I did notice your bike is not a UK registered bike, do you not live in the UK or have I missed something?
Hi Stuart, there were times when any approaching scooter was met with suspicion 🤣 Yeah a nice area that, we were a little bit rushed as we had done the Yorkshire dales that day too so would have been nice to stay over. Yeah we live in Switzerland (but from North Wales) and wanted to see all the parts of the Uk and Ireland that we never got around to seeing 😊. Here’s a bit of our story if you’re interested (only the stage intro is in German 😉) ruclips.net/video/jryrxBiMoFY/видео.htmlsi=Gf8vWLy9DVToValI
Ive just returned from a 4k mile trip round Scandinavia, talk about no signal, however, I've binned my BMW Navs, and now using the Carpuride 702B, clips straight into the BMW mount. Using google maps through Andriod Auto. I left the UK wondering if the network coverage would cause issues, so i downloaded all the maps i needed at home. Not once did my Carpuride stop navigating. Worked a treat, and with the 7 inch huge clear screen, ill be keeping it, in fact, it will be fitted to my new R1300GSA When i collect it.
Nice one! Scandinavia is spectacular. Great that the Carpureride is working for you 👍🏻 it appears a lot of people had issues with the V6 navigator, we went from the old V5 that we’ve had for 10 years to the connected ride navigator and haven’t had any issues yet……car play is for sure overdue on the BMWs. Have you ordered the 1300GSA? 😎🙌🏻
@@SeanandEmily The Nav 6 had the ghosting issues with the screen, You're very lucky to not have the same. Android Auto, Apple Car play is definitely the way to go. I started the Facebook BMW TFT group back in 2018, nothing but agro....... Yes, I've bought a new Triple Black GSA TE ASA. I went with the full auto model. Not being delivered to me now until March 1st, 25 plate. Cant wait.
Yeah that’s right, the connected ride replaces the V6 so it looks like they have fixed the issue ….hope it stays that way 😁. Nice one! The ASA system looks like it works really well! -love the fact you can still put it in manual mode and shift just the same as before -but looking at tests it works perfectly on its own. Exciting 😊
I rode through Cork yesterday, the other day.. The traffic lights seem to be completely independent of each other ... No plan between them, they just run through their own little sequence... Frustrated the hell out of me!
I bet it did! Nothing worse than waiting on traffic lights with no logic when there’s nobody else using them 🤣 Fun traffic light fact, at a lot of crossroads in Switzerland before 6:00 am (guessing it’s from midnight) all lights are flashing amber!
Lol 😂 we even made it out with the cameras. Honestly was shocked by the cars racing on the wrong side of the road ! Thought it was something from police camera action ….just without the police 😁
A small detail has intrigued me for several videos, how do you wash your dishes after meals? Do you carry water? Pierre and Pascale from France, we wish you beautiful travels.
Hi, Often we cook near water sources and carry biodegradable soap. We do carry water to cook with and use it for a quick rinse. Otherwise if there is no way to wash up we put the dishes inside a dry bag and wash up later at either the hotel or campsite. Thanks 😎👍
Hey Jonathan, nice place that! We didn’t get to see everything we planned to see due to road closures. Yeah we noticed a few ‘sporty’ guys so guessing at times it gets a bit crazy!
it’s unfortunate that many towns and cities have declined in Britain over the last 40 years due to loss its heavy industry, shops pubs have closed leaving the towns in a state of of decay 😢, it looks like it in wales in many old mining towns/ valleys,, depressing, first time I’ve heard Emily complaining,
Yeah, it had definitely been a rough few hours in stop start traffic! 😅 Emily never complains, but even she’s had enough that day! Totally agree, it’s sad to see how much some towns have declined over the years.
So think u have the BNW Nav system then ur phone (google?) doing Nav is its because the BMW Nav v6 thingy is not too hot.....i see now there is a Garmin XT adapater for the BMW cradle.....be better?
Hi, yeah we are using the Connected ride Navigator and the Calimoto App along with Google maps. The connected ride Navigator replaces the V6 nav and for us it's worked faultlessly (heard that many people had issues with the previous V6) . We load our routes GPX routes onto the Nav and use the phone for any off route deviations.
@@SeanandEmily yes got Calimoto after one of ur vids :-) so u use ur phone and the Connected app ok makes sense. I am one of those that prefers my phone in my pocket just in case may look into the Garmin XT as a stand alone unit and import Calimoto into that...there is a neat adapter for the cradle
Yeah i get that, my phone is quite a few years old so if i had a newer one i too would want it safe in the pocket! Good that there is an adaptor, as long as you can still use the wonder wheel (that's crucial for me), we went from the V5 to the connected ride so missed the troubles of V6 😊
Hi Peter, no problem 😊. It’s the Touratech Aventuro PRO Carbon helmet (made by Nexx) here’s the video of us at the store: ruclips.net/video/HBi9llMO_zs/видео.htmlsi=zz9o6u6ifw06nvwe
@@SeanandEmilythanks for the reply, I’m actually thinking more of the flip front ones you have , ( model please 😉)my wife and I both need additional helmets so these may be contenders.
Aha okay, the flip up lids in the other series were also from Touratech - Aventuro Traveller, but the flip up lids we had in the even older episodes were the BMW System 7's 😊👍
Haha did it get you too? 🤣 only skipped a few points thinking it would save time lol ! Stuck in traffic in the centre of Bradford we see wondering if the Peak District had been moved 🤣🤣. Those ULEZ zones are a right pain!
Why do you not filter through traffic? I have been riding a Honda Goldwing for many years now and never get held up in traffic as I go between traffic slowly.
Hm. I would hesitate before entertaining the likes of @bryangreen and his ilk. The term Bradfordistan is a racist trope used by "true" (lol😅) Brits such as he to denote the fact Bradford has an ethnically diverse population. In fact, people who identify as white British are in the majority in Bradford. As for boy racers in their Audis, you get those in any town.

The Peak District is lovely and full of great places it's just a pity there's so many roadworks and crowds!!
All the best 👌
Ahh okay, we’ve been to Chatsworth house and it’s an impressive estate. Yeah will have to go back and make sure we have more time for it next time 😎
Once in the country the views were fantastic ,I could hear the frustration coming through when in Bradford and talking about home ,but glad the rest of our ride cheered you both up.
@@SeanandEmily yeah we saw you going past a few of of our favorite pubs. Sean would enjoyed the excellent ales.
He sure would!!! 😊
Yeah all worked out well in the end and we had fun along the way 😊. Haha i think she just needs to use that heated seat less! 😂😂
@@SeanandEmily That's another option. 😎👍
👍👍👍 🏍️
Thanks Michael!! 😎🙌🏻
Here’s a bit of our story if you’re interested (only the stage intro is in German 😉)

@@SeanandEmily thank you very much, I’ll take a peak

Exciting 😊
@@SeanandEmily You'll get one for free no doubt !!!!!
We can dream 😁
I rode through Cork yesterday, the other day.. The traffic lights seem to be completely independent of each other ... No plan between them, they just run through their own little sequence... Frustrated the hell out of me!
I bet it did! Nothing worse than waiting on traffic lights with no logic when there’s nobody else using them 🤣
Fun traffic light fact, at a lot of crossroads in Switzerland before 6:00 am (guessing it’s from midnight) all lights are flashing amber!
Still got your wheels on the bike after Bradford,😂😂 it seams the u k in this day and age is bonkers now , safe riding
Lol 😂 we even made it out with the cameras. Honestly was shocked by the cars racing on the wrong side of the road ! Thought it was something from police camera action ….just without the police 😁
@SeanandEmily 😄😄roll of velcro help to hold of your bike , 🙏police seam to stay away ,
think there was a major landslide and that road will be closed for some time
Ahh is that what it was. Cheers 😎👍
Thanks 😎👍
Oh please explain 'My bottom has been used to much'😂😂
😳🤣😂
Holmemoss is my neck of the woods. I riarely go on the snake theres too many nutters on a weekend risking everything.
Hey Jonathan, nice place that! We didn’t get to see everything we planned to see due to road closures. Yeah we noticed a few ‘sporty’ guys so guessing at times it gets a bit crazy!
@@SeanandEmily yes I prefer going over to winnats pass via Glossop and chapel en le frith .
One to try next time 😎👍🏻
Not one of your happier trips, onwards and upwards eh
@@littlejoe8359 Just keeping it real 😂🤣😂
it’s unfortunate that many towns and cities have declined in Britain over the last 40 years due to loss its heavy industry, shops pubs have closed leaving the towns in a state of of decay 😢, it looks like it in wales in many old mining towns/ valleys,, depressing, first time I’ve heard Emily complaining,
Yeah, it had definitely been a rough few hours in stop start traffic! 😅 Emily never complains, but even she’s had enough that day! Totally agree, it’s sad to see how much some towns have declined over the years.
@@SeanandEmilydiversity is our strength, so they say🤦♂️
@@SeanandEmily I am with you didn't think that threw let me find out re wonder wheel...damn thank you
Hi both , I am sure you have been asked and answered this question before but what model of Touratech helmets do you wear please ?
Hi Peter, no problem 😊. It’s the Touratech Aventuro PRO Carbon helmet (made by Nexx) here’s the video of us at the store:

@@SeanandEmilythanks for the reply, I’m actually thinking more of the flip front ones you have ,
( model please 😉)my wife and I both need additional helmets so these may be contenders.
Aha okay, the flip up lids in the other series were also from Touratech - Aventuro Traveller, but the flip up lids we had in the even older episodes were the BMW System 7's 😊👍
@@SeanandEmily cheers, very helpful, thanks for the info 😎👍
Bradford wasn't a good satnav visit for me ether. Ring road Is ulez zone. And got a fine £££.
Haha did it get you too? 🤣 only skipped a few points thinking it would save time lol ! Stuck in traffic in the centre of Bradford we see wondering if the Peak District had been moved 🤣🤣.
Those ULEZ zones are a right pain!
Nothing surprises me in bradistan 😂
Sounds like we pronounced this one wrong as well then 😁
Why do you not filter through traffic? I have been riding a Honda Goldwing for many years now and never get held up in traffic as I go between traffic slowly.
We do -often, but as i'm sure you know there's often traffic so tightly packed that there is literally no room to filter.
Bradford .in 2016 a policeman told me parts of Bradford is lawless I kid you not. we all know why
And that was 2016 😮
@@SeanandEmilybe prepared for thousands of true brits descending on beautiful Switzerland in the coming years
We will open a pub for them 😊
It’s commonly known now as bradfordistan, spot the the white man and you win a million pounds
Nobody spotted us …that would have been 2 million 😁
@@SeanandEmily must of had your tinted visor down 😂
