The Avatar is said to be the strongest human in the world, but not all Avatars are built equal as some are stronger than others. The Avatar is the only person in the world capable of mastering all four elements and their job is to maintain peace in the world. There have been hundreds and hundreds of Avatars throughout history, from the first Avatar, Wan, to the most recent Avatar, Korra. They’ve all gotten the job done in the end, but not all of them did it the same way.
Avatar Wan was the first Avatar and the first human to live among the spirits. He was the first one to treat them with respect so they respected him back. Avatar Roku was one of the wisest and most well-respected Avatars. We saw a lot of him in Avatar: The Last Airbender since he preceded Aang. Aang was the most special Avatar, mastering each of the elements by the age of 12 and defeating Fire Lord Ozai. Avatar Korra is probably the most naturally gifted Avatar seeing as she mastered three out of the four elements by age four. Then, we have the unbelievable Avatar Kyoshi, who single handedly created Kyoshi Island by separating it from mainland Earth Kingdom.

The episode begins with another scene from Dr Agatha PHD. She begs Wanda to enter the SWORD to steal Vision's body. He's in horrible shape though, and she gives in. It is then that Agatha convinces her to create the Hex, with another vision, confirming that he is not from another universe. Agatha makes the curse completely disappear, weakening vision and causing it to begin to disintegrate. Wanda goes out of her way against her and a huge battle ensues. Strange and Wong arrive. Strange and Peter shoot each other knowing glances, as if expecting to see each other. Peter speeds Monica and Jimmy to the rescue camp. Wanda beats the Agatha Phoenix style, but start to lose control. Strange appears in his mind and gives a "You are better than this!" Style speech. After Wanda turns off, she kneels next to a dying Vision and they exploit a final goodbye while Strange and Wong watch. On the outskirts of town, Agatha is still alive and lame when Karl Mordo appears (the other big appearance!). She doesn't recognize him. As she is about to ask him for help, he strangles her with his whip thing and extracts all the energy she siphoned from Wanda. As Agatha ages and becomes an old woman, a dark cloud / smoke with purple energy gushes out of her and she dies. He watches the red energy in his hands as two teenagers - an aged Billy and Tommy - appear behind him. Epilogue has Wanda with the Masters at Kamar Taj to heal and refine her powers. Peter asks him about his sons, but no one else remembers him. Hayward apologizes to Monica, Jimmy and Darcy and gives the atoning routine. Jimmy and Peter both join SWORD. The mid-credits scene shows Wong doing his infinite stone hologram show by himself in the library, looking super preoccupied. He distinguishes the blue stone of space, surrounded by black swirls (Loki's modified timeline), while a seventh white stone appears in the center. The end credits scene at The Dark Cloud wash quickly over New York City at lightning speed. No one notices it though. Suddenly the hexagonal portals start to open in the sky one by one and the series ends with "Wanda Maximoff Will Return". Don't say where.

@@katara3700 don't take it out of context. They said that because the newer the generation of the avatar is, the more powerful they become because of more past lives than the last generation. Guess who is stronger Between the Avatar who lost all the past lives during her time and the last Avatar before who had all past lives
sorry to correct you but wan was not the first person to treat the spirits with respect. we can see that the airbenders were living in how many with spirits on top of there lion turtles.

I believe Aang also had the potential to learn lightning bending as well. He was able to redirect lightning.
Considering iroh taught zuko how to redirect lightning specifically because he couldn't use lightning, that doesn't mean much.

Aang also met all four original masters of each element and gained energy bending from a lion turtle. That itself is incredible and no other Avatar has done before or since.

I honestly think Aang's strength is heavily underrated. The guy grew up as a non-aggressive bender, not to mention already being very talented with water and fire bending. The only times we saw him really get angry was when he lost Appa and he scared everyone before going into the Avatar State. Plus we never actually got to see him go all out in his prime like when he was an adult.
He had the most restraint, even fighting admiral Zhao he didn't throw a single strike. Korra's biggest weakness was that she basically fought blind, she would throw anything without thinking the next step which is way Kuvira beat her up. Even though she showed some better feats, she was also beaten a bunch.
The training with Toph showcases this, Toph could see everything coming because Korra telegraphs every move.
Not to mention, he also defeated Fire Lord while there was a freaking comet giving him an extra boost. Aang was still not perfect with all the other elements but he mastered the Avatar State and actually became an Avatar. At age 12.
He also had a very lighthearted sense of humor and left space on his heart for love (as advised by uncle Iroh at the cave) :')

I guess it actually depends on the person. If they're more merciful in general, the opposite would actually be true.

To be honest i think the most impressive feat about aang is how peacefully he stays throughout his life. when rewatching the show as an adult i felt like he never really went all out until fighting ozai. it felt like 12 year old aang was just killing time with prince zuko when they fought xD

I love Korra but people often get it wrong that she “mastered” 3 elements as a child, that’s not correct, Korra could use fire, water, and earth but she hadn’t mastered them until her teens

I know, I was thinking about Yangchen and Kuruk. Both were extraordinary in their own ways.
I've found a new respect for Kyoshi. I knew she was awesome but just finding out how badass she actually was just blew my mind

Aang became an airbending master at 12, learnt the other elements over only a year as well as powers such as seismic sense, energy bending and lightning redirection, fought Ozai and had the restraint to refuse to kill him.

Against Amon: no one except Aang had the ability to take bending and was a blood bender. The most op technique. Against Unavaatu: most spiritual being and perfectly aligned. Against Zaheer: fighting off being poisoned to death. Against Kuvira in recovery physically and mentally.

Avater Aang is a master piece I loved how he settled the Fire Lord issue without killing him as conventional thoughts demands.

If we talk by achievement then aang is the strongest.
1- he was against the strongest nation that wiped out his entire race or nation
2- he did all these at age 12 or 13 within a year
3- in the whole franchise there were only 2 fire benders with blue flame and both were in aangs time (Fire Lord Azulon and azula
4- he learnt all 3 element on the run.
all other avatars had little battles to be honest
korra fought mad people
roku fought his best friend
kiyoshi fought a general from her own kingdom
all smalls battles or challenges
aang creaated a comfortable life for korra she
she had everything ,she was protected and also respected
aang was some kid running around the world

No point lmao. The past avatars are still chilling in the spirit world. All the next avatar has to do is meditate into the spirit world and physically find them. hell, if that doesn't work, they can just walk up in the spirit portals and find them like that. They just dont have direct connection anymore
While all the other Avatar's could bend four elements, Aang was able to bend five thanks to the fifth lion turtle. He was beyond all of them. Also, we should count Unalaq as avatar too.
Technically that’s not a fifth element but the source of power within the elements. Imagine all 4 elements at their core are just pure energy, aang learned how to bend that energy.

From my observation:
1) Water Bending Avatar - speed of progression(at their potential) is at highest 'til they have to deal with air bending. Also has the highest tendency to die "young". Always dependent with the "flow" of the situation for improvement.
2) Earth Bending Avatar - has the slowest progression yet also lives the longest among the 4. Starts mastering the other elements with the most challenging for his/her.
3) Fire Bending Avatar - lifetime and speed of progression is somewhat decent. But they "need" time. Has the highest tendency to pursue for improvement.
4) Air Bending Avatar - Speed of progression depends on the situation. The dire it is, the more likely he'll/she'll accomplished in the shortest amount of time possible. Also has the highest tendency to not pursue further for improvement.
I wish they would make a series of the first avatar... those episodes in korra were my favorite

I feel like Aang's Journey was too short especially after defeating the fire Lord. I honestly wished he had mastered lighting,metal and lava bending and flying without his staff he had so much potential I also hoped he who stand out more for his spirit bending and actually reach a level where he could compete with the lion turtles in spirit bending. That would be mad.

Kyoshi 100/10 in my opinion she has always been my favorite even when we only saw her for little bits in the show. I've always considered the most powerful!
I strongly believe aang could learn how to lightning bend, metal bend, and blood bend in adult hood. we never get to see his full potential other than when he energy bent at ease. no way he couldn’t figure out advanced bending techniques as well.

I honestly think they ALL are the strongest Avatar, but if we go by logic of the threats each of them faced we don't have enough evidence to say Aang was the strongest 🤷🏻♂️
- Aang faced Ozai (the strongest firebender we've seen) and general Old Iron (a really strong dark spirit)
- Korra faced the dark avatar/Vaatu (arguably the strongest villain we've seen), the red lotus, Amon (the strongest waterbender we've seen) and Kuvira (who had the equivalent of a nuclear weapon, which she stopped)
- Roku we don't know much about
- Kyoshi faced a politically powerful earthbender, Chin the conqueror and most impressively one of the strongest earthbenders we know about fused with a really powerful dark spirit
- Yangchen we don't know much about but she faced general Old Iron too
- We know that Kuruk was really powerful and killed MANY powerful dark spirits
- Wan faced Vaatu same as Korra, again we know that Vaatuu is arguably the strongest villain in the franchise
Honestly I don't like this list very much, it feels biased towards Aang :-/

I think Korra should be second in this list fighting so many opponents in just teen age and the last two battles were without the help of any other Avatar.. She fought Aman who after Aang was the first one to take someones bending and also could bloodbend without a full moon, fought a combination of Vaato and analogue which became even more powerful than the one which Avatar Wan defeated and she defeated both without the help of Rava and thus saving her aswell... Also fought Zaheer and otherss... I think she is really very much underrated.. in my list Kyoshi would definitely be 3rd

Technically, Korra had access to energy bending because of Aang. That is how Aang took Ozi's bending away and he learned it from a Lion-Turtle. So to take your statement a bit further, the next avatar after her should have access to the main 4 + energy + metal

@Mr.Supreme Not resourceful? Korra is able to seamlessly transition between fighting techniques as is appropriate to the situation. A strong example of this is in her final battle with Kuvira. It opens with her breaking through the hatch with metalbending, combined with airbending to launch it & herself into the air, & firebending, which she uses to knock out the other soldiers a split-second after she must've seen them.
She lands opposite Kuvira, still using her fire blasts, but when attacked with the meteorites, she uses a more fluid motion to redirect them back. This exchange goes on for a while, until Korra has to duck one of Kuvira's attacks, using her stooped position to shift into a throwing technique. The second Kuvira hits the ground, she's launched upward by an earth-style attack, right into the path of Korra's next, downward blow.
I think that makes the point well enough. She's no one trick pony, outside of situations where she's not performing to her normal standard, like when she had PTSD, it's not a simple matter of just evading her strikes & wearing her down.
It's often said that being a foil to Aang means Korra isn't very good at dodging or using airbending moves, but this belief is overestimated. They don't focus on the spiral motions after she uses them in Pro-Bending because they aren't relevant to the plot anymore, but you can see where she uses them if you know what to look for.
For instance, during her fight with the Equalist Lieutenant, he ducks a kick & swings at her head, only for her to evade with a spin, smashing her elbow into his face in the process. Evasion, spiral motion, sounds like an internalized airbending lesson to me. She also uses a presumably unrelated dodging maneuver, where she jumps back from a swipe onto a handstand, which she then uses to power a downward kick. You can also see more style shifting in this fight, like when she uses an earth stance to throw him to the ground, switching to a firebending kick for the follow-up, but that was already covered.
What it does bring up, though, is that Korra uses every part of her body as a weapon. Another reason it's not enough to just dodge her punches & kicks is because she might follow up with an elbow strike or use her leg to throw you. Some unanticipated attack from an unanticipated angle. This also extends to improvised weaponry, as an example which ties back to the airbending thing is when she uses a curtain & a spinning airbending kick to tie up Unalaq's kidnappers.
She also knows how to pick her targets, by which I mean removing advantages & striking at weak points. A good example of this is the giant fight. Whatever opinion you might have about it, the relevant portion is when Unavaatu attacks her with his tentacles. She can see this is a significant advantage, it gives him many more limbs & a much longer reach than her, so the first thing she does is grab as many tentacles as she can & twist them up. This then creates a weak point, he's essentially stuck to her, which she uses to pull him in for more attacks.

1-Aang-He has a potential but he stopped learning after the war. He can probably Metal Bend, Blood Bend and Lighting bend and he can bend energy, he is the only avatar who mastered it.
2-Kyoshi- She's the strongest and a powerful avatar but she is not as strong as Aang.
3-Roku- Wisest Avatar and he is a very strong too.
4-Yangchen- She did a very great job that the next avatar wasn't able to shine. She's strong and know when to fight
5- One- He is the first one, he managed it all without any guide from past avatars. He learned the elements on his own, he is defeated Vatu on his own
Korra isn't a really really great avatar and she is not that bad but she's close to worst. She's strong but not powerful. I feel bad for the next avatar that she or he can only see Korra. She's just not a proper avatar like her attitude, I don't think it suits an avatar. One don't have any guide and managed to defeat Vatu and here is Korra, she has mentors, friends, Rava, Past Avatars and still lose her connections and almost got defeated by Vatu
It was revealed in the comics that he never learned to metalbend, not sure about other sub-elements.

I think it’s safe to say Aang was a bending prodigy. It would be cool if Nickelodeon released a 4 part series, with 2 episodes per part (1 hour each), and each part dedicated to a particular past avatar. Each part telling the stories of 4 different avatars from one of each nation, and told in a similar fashion to avatar Wan’s. Stretching across the millennia too, so that different era’s are depicted. This would be extremely interesting, because there were so many avatars that came before Roku, kioshi, Aang & Korra; a great many going back thousands of years ago. Imagine the stories of just some the most powerful ones in a series like I’ve described.

Roku was told he was the Avatar at the same age, but it took him 12 years to master all 4. She mastered Air, Water, Earth, and Fire in less than 12 months while it took Roku 12 YEARS! If that doesn’t show a powerful Avatar, I don’t know what does. You cannot argue that Roku was more spiritual than Yangchen. She was taught by the Air Nomad Nuns. She mastered the Avatar state when she was 16, when Roku entered the Avatar state for the first time, he destroyed the Fire Sages’ temple. He was in his late 20s. When Yangchen entered the Avatar state, she stopped Old Iron ( A Giant spirit who wanted to destroy an earth kingdom city). Yangchen was much wiser than most of her past lives too. Instead of blasting the elements at a foe, she used her wits to take them down. Basically a book 4 Korra.

I don't think Aang would pursue further on the "sub bending arts" like blood bending. Even if he had all the time in the world. From what I can tell, he was already contented with the energy bending, water bending that didn't heal nor form it into ice. I think it was in his nature as a monk.

The way ozai tried to escape and try not to fly against the rocks while aang became a f planet and went after him is the most og thing i have ever seen. The part where ozai was on the ground and shoot a fireblast against aang while coming from above was just to show that ozai his power could do nothing. Not even slow him down.
The amount of not accurate info presented is crazy. One example is him claiming Korra mastered the elements at 3. In the show they literally say in the first episode that she's taking a test to see if she mastered firebending.

To the people thinking Korra is the strongest, think about this to defeat Vaatu and the other guy, Tenzin needed to give a big speech to her, and she became really big and powerful. BUT tenzin is the son of Aang, tenzin would've never said that speech if he weren't raised by Aang and Katara. And with Amon she defeated him easily but when Zaheer came in, she needed as much airbenders to take him down, she needed Tenzins kids just to take him down, but Aang just fighted Ozai without any help, only sokka, suki and toph blocked the airships. So therefore Aangs is the strongest.
when she fought Zaheer she was literally poisoned with mercury, and didn’t have the experience side of the avatar state because her past lives were disconnected, keep in mind she almost won when he struck him with her water but you know, was dying to poison

I watched both and I still think that aang is the strongest. While Korra fought evil but aang fought the strongest solo bender that was powered up by a comet . It's also overlooked that aang resisted the avatar state that wanted to kill ozai with is thousands. Aang was never in his prime he was 12 and at 12 he accomplished more than Korra did almost all her life .
i would like to see the possibly next avatar that will be a natural earthbending, or if you prefer, a sandbending, would like to see his grow, friend and his enemys too :/

It wouldn’t surprise me if it came out that kioshi could bend ALL of the sub-elements. Immense power and long life makes her easily the most powerful avatar. We just don’t know it.
The Avatars that has the biggest impact on me is Avatar Yangchen and Avatar Aang.
I do consider myself more of an Air nomad than any of the others. Maybe that's why the before mention "speaks" to me.
Avatar Kyoshi is cool to, but more in a revered and fear/respectful way.

that doesn't address the fact that Aang could've done all those same things at such a younger age. he doesn't because of his passive nature compared to the other two, doesn't mean he couldn't do it. Ozi was by far stronger than any opponent Kyoshi faced and Aang beat him in a way no avatar has ever done and did so at age 12. while Korra fought a bunch of badass opponents, can you say any of them (besides Una-Vaatu) was stronger than Ozi during the comet? not to mention, she lost to all of them multiple times before eventually defeating them. Aang never lost to Ozi, the fight may not have gone his way at certain points, but he was in the fight the whole time. Una-Vaatu I will say was the same, if not a bit stronger than Ozi during the comet, but Korra lost to him, badly. Then she collected herself and beat him. If Aang had lose to Ozi the same way, the war and the world would've been lost because Ozi would have killed Aang instead of taking away the avatar state
