  • *Edit: Had to revise the video to change few things.
Several years ago, I watched an interesting video from Bulk Reef Supply. In that video, Ryan was reviewing the Gen 1 of this light and he said it was the most uniformed and evenly distributed light that set the bar for the LEDs. Fast forward few years and Gen 2 was announced and came available few months back by my friend at CoralVue and it has been told that they had addressed all of the things that people didn't like about the 1st gen.
As a pioneer in LED technology, I have always wondered how good Philips were in applicating their technology and knowledge of lights into their reef LED fixtures and when my good friend Chris Meckley from ACI Aquaculture was so convinced to start making a big switch in his coral farm, I just had to go check it out for myself.
Here is a video why Chris, a huge scale coral farmer whose livelihood depends on results and a huge metal halide and T5 guy made a huge leap to LED fixtures.
    Check it out.

I have been using these lights for close to a year now. Got them when they came out in Europe. Amazing lights for growth and color.

Absolutely not sponsored. Chris spent money out of his pocket to make this change.
Think about it for a second though. Do you think few light fixtures are worth jeopardizing his livelihood as a coral farmer?

Ha! I wish! Had a few industry friends say ..”I hope you got a few free lights for this advertising.” Lol Nope but that’s okay.
Did this for my friend Richard and because I’m happy with the light so far.

I bought 3 Gen 2's and a controller less than a month before they went on sale and started throwing the controller in for free. story of my life! LOL
Par may be lower because they are mounted so high... Philips recommends 9 - 12 inches on a 24 inch deep tank.

I have a friend he have the corals care 2 the corals like but the colour are ugly comparered to my radions. I tested different led but non make corals happy as halides +t5, I think I will switch back this leds are a lot of marketing, yes you can maintain and growing corals but not close to what halides can do
