I agree with most of the comments. Great video Thomas! Keep them coming! BRS is a great resource for the reef community! I still think the AI prime is my choice for lighting. my 2 cents.
Hey BRS!!!! Tell these light manufacturers that not everyone wants to hang lights from their ceilings with crappy looking cables!!! Provide mounting arm options!........
Are you going to do a review on the Radeon XR 30 pro Gen 5. I have one coming soon I won it on Reef builders so it wasn’t my Choice but I want to know how good it is.👍🏻
This is a relatively new light, but the Gen 1 did a great job growing coral. Probably most notably, Terence's tank from Neptune Systems used Coral Care G1 lights 🙂
There is a little bit of shimmer, but nowhere near that of Kessils or Radions. I suppose that could be a positive or negative depending on if you like shimmer or not.
I know. Lights are so crazy. Nicrew got a new salt water light on amazon different wattages are different prices but I love mine. No dimming tho it's on a on/off timer. But I got a cheap light that does sun rise n I have that come on before hand
I have 2x 2018 Coral Cares on my tank, Set Up another one with the evergrow it5012, but Sold it after 3 months.. the way it dims Up and down is horrible
@@michalp.4975 at that time it wasnt released yet i think but i have Seen it some time later. You mean the DIY Controller where you need to Open the lamp right?
@@thomasgaal1908 you have to open the lamp to install any module in it. There is 2 or 3 on the market at the moment. I made my own with arduino WiFi board. plenty source codes around ready to be used. All you have to do is change the number of channels and outputs.
I'd actually disagree, I think Kessil can do some of these things pretty well, but the spread and subdued shimmer of these panel style fixtures provides a lot less shadowing and more even coverage in a tank of mature corals. Much more like T5. To accomplish the same thing with Kessils alone would probably cost more. I am curious to see how the Straton from ATI compares to this fixture! I think it will be more in line with the bluer spectrum many reefers prefer.
Thomas, You are so much fun! I enjoy watching all your videos! Great job!
The spread on these lights is crazy and really shines on bigger tanks. With 1 light I saw almost a 4 ft spread on the sandbed.
I have 2x 2018 Coral Care on my tank and they are awesome
Looks good
Everyone complaining about the price, radions are in the eu also alot more expensive then in us.. price of coralcare is €620 - €730 in EU
Because we need more affordable options in this hobby. Not more ferrari's

Here in Europe they Cost 620€
Kessil ap9x Costs 850-1000€
Radion xr30 Costs 940€
Hydra 64hd Costs 650-750€
Why was this product discontinued in the BRS lineup?
Feels like Phillips dropped this light before Neptune drops their light which I have a feeling is going to be extremely similar.
There a bracket option for this? I am not a fan of hanging,
As of now, hanging is the only mounting option available for this light fixture.
When will you guys review the ati straton?
I hope soon!
Mimicking the natural ocean light? At what depth? The ocean light spectrum changes with time of day, depth and latitude.

@@BRStv thanks I found it The light seems very good. Definitely a Top Prize 👍🏻
Would a single one of these work for a 3 foot tank? 3ftx2ftx2ft
This light would work great over a tank with those dimensions 🙂
ATI Straton vs Philips Coral care gen 2 who will win?🤔
Guess ATI will make it.
Anyone try hanging a tv over the tank?
Oled or plasma will give you more contrast and deeper blacks than LCD.
Does it grow and color up coral? If someone is going to drop $900 we must know

First
But why are LEDs 900$???
No real shimmer?

its $900... god sometimes I feel way to poor to be in this hobby...
Yeah, I can't just shed 900 bucks on a light, im too poor for this, now I'm sad
@@riptorable you and me both!
Ya, tough to spend $900 on this when an XR30 is less.
@@ande5460 right! You can find people getting out of the hobby and selling two hydras 64 or something similar for 600!
Crazy I spent $200.00 on a AI with mount. For my 12 year old nano and I thought that’s expensive!
what the . f 899 ? for a philps .. light CASH GRAB
Welcome to the marine hobby, almost every aspect is a cash grab
depends where you live.
He's funny...but holly Molly, it's 900 dollars.

lots of ppl complain the prices. Y'all not ready for this hobby. Pls decom.
Wow thats not cheap 😐
Did he just recommend this as a fuge light 😆
Every light is a fuge light if you have enough money 😂
Yeah man lol $1000 fuge light 😂
If i dont make my wife's car payment for 3 months......then maybe?!
For the money I can get 2x evergrow it5012 that would be much better :D

silly price why even watxch this
Kessil can do all of this a lot easier.
These lights are for people's big wallets

Absurdly priced... No thanks. Many options MUCH cheaper
