    I have the GX8 and GX80 and think the GX8 is definitely the better camera. The GX80 has its good points one being the in body stabilisation on 4k video which the GX8 doesn't have.

    Great review on the Panasonic GX80 Dave, I love the look of the GX8, is it a great camera Dave? I have the Olympus OMD EM5 and all the Olympus micro four third lenses, would it be a good upgrade for me Dave, people say the Olympus OMD EM5 has better stabilization, having 5 axis stabilization, but I absolutely love the rangefinder form and style of the GX8, and it's weather sealed! I like the fact it's a lot larger in form also Dave.
    "Would my Olympus lenses work great with the GX8 Dave? or would I need to buy Panasonic glass?"

      I use an Olympus 12-40mm Pro on mine.

    The tripod mount is in a rather silly spot like the PEN-F. It must be something to do with the electronics inside the body. The sensor is much closer to the mount on mirrorless so I'm guessing that's the main reason.

    • @geekanoids
      @geekanoids  8 лет назад

      +TalesOfWar Yes, weird how two manufacturers did exactly the same position.

      I use my GX80 on a gimbal and have no problem with the placement of the tripod bush.

    Nice looking camera, weird spot for the tri pod mount but at least it is not off center. Looking forward to your review of this camera! Excellent video Dave.

      I'm wondering if that forward position of the tripod mount to to compensate for larger/longer lenses so that there is less stress on the body/internal components from more forward weight.

    • @ArumesYT
      @ArumesYT 8 лет назад

      Larger/longer lenses have their own tripod mount to prevent extreme stress on the tripod mount AND the lens mount.

    great review!
    However, I actually welcome the fact that the screen its not fully articulating, especially since virtually all high end MFT bodies are coming out with this fully articulating screen, which really is only beneficial to those shooting videos or selfies maybe...
    I think this is the better Pen F for half the price, Art dial etc. are all gimmicks to me...

    • @geekanoids
      @geekanoids  8 лет назад

      +STEHH87 Good point, if you are into photography mainly then this type of screen is superb.

    • @paristo
      @paristo 8 лет назад

      Those who prefer articulating one, say that it is better because you can get vertical low/high angle shots.
      Those who do photography likes tilting as it is not on your way or visible to front.
      the interesting part is that no one should shoot 16:9 vertically so articulating doesnt help.
      the real main benefit (only benefit?) is that you can see the video recording from front when recording video.
      But that causes a problem as you end up often looking screen instead lens, so it is odd looking video then.
      And for them a upward tinting screen probably would be a best if they cant look first their position when setting the camera.

      Hi Peter, the 12-32mm kit lens is a great way of getting to know the camera and a good performer too.

    Not a great position for tripod mounts, but looks a great camera with some fantastic features. A shame the screen won't come right round.

  • @Monduras
    @Monduras 8 лет назад

    a couple of questions. 1 - i read in the manual that a body cap should be included in the box. 2. i've been trying to get a new gx85 but each one comes in an open box and i tested shutter count = 32. Is my camera used???

    • @geekanoids

      Most will be tested slightly. If you buy a kit with lens then no body cap is included.

      +Geekanoids Dave, how about the sony a6300?

    • @sdrtcacgnrjrc
      @sdrtcacgnrjrc 7 лет назад

      size is the key factor there: what size gear are you willing/going to lug around. Sony is small, and some of it's lenses are small, but being APS-C most of them are going to be a lot bigger than anything M43

      Where something is manufactured is not indicative of its quality, especially when you consider domestic versus international markets. China has high-speed and maglev trains. The Chinese are way ahead of many countries. Besides, China was a powerhouse for manufacturing and supply via the Silk Road many years ago. It is now once again.
