Thank you for doing these Rush tutorials. I’m primarily a keyboard player but do dabble in guitar so this is really helping my playing. I’ve been a big fan of Rush since the mid 80s.

This is a good channel Dean doesnt complicate. Some people on you tube teach theory and i have a one year certificate and can barely follow. Rush is basic theory most of the time with a key change added in. Take all song and learn what key there in then change them to say G major then you will see its all the same shi. Dont listen to teachers that say augnemted flat 5 like youre supposed to understand that lol. This song is basiccaly in F major with the C acting as the six chord. Move it down and play in E then its easy. I bet Lifeson plays it tuned up so its easy to make tha hard F minor dean showed is simple in the key of E
The intro actually is a reggae beat on the one and three playing a Cm with a g in the base for the part you show as the introduction Plays this for seven measures before the chordal intro
Beautiful cover, spot on! It would be a nice addition if at the end of the lesson you played the full guitar part, but if it's not possible then there's no problem
A small bone to pick, Dean. The song is in the key of c minor. There are 0 sharps. 3 flat notes. Eb, Ab and Bb. G# does not exist! Other than that, great lesson!
Isn't the timing just something that comes automatically from playing the song. Like all the time changes in RUSH songs people talk about, I've never noticed or thought anything about it, to me it's just how the song goes and I can play them just fine and never gave a thought to the time signatures involved.
People move this a half step down and play in the key of D just like Subdivisions. People dont think this is rocket science music is way easier than math class once you just learn basic theory rush is not hard. I barely graduated high school and failed algebra im telling you you can do this. Find a teacher who isnt greedy in your area and one that is honest you will understand all this stuff. Beware of teachers that act like music is this hard thing as most rock is so easy 5 year olds can master it just seems difficult but rock is EASY!!
