Action gameplay and teleporting have just never worked for me personally.
It stalls the momentum since you're attention gets devoted to pointing your arm somewhere to quickly get to cover or out of the way instead of just being able to press a lil joystick or touchpad with your thumb to strafe around while keeping you attention on the action.

Cameron Novotny a lot of things would suggest this is HL3 in disguise. It's at the very LEAST the third major Half-Life game - same length & scope as hl1 and hl2

The Half-Life trilogy is a masterclass in immersion.
Valve is quality. Except for the artifact game, it has been highly successful.

Dude. Half-life was all horror. The entire game. It's just daylight portions were more.... realistic. I, for one, consider Ravenholm the cheesiest part of HL2, which falls out of the game's style the most.

@@ursa_margo HL1 was originally intended to be horror, but they changed their minds partway through development, which is why half the game is inside an underground facility with no power and an alien infestation, and the other half is not. There is no style that HL follows, either game, each chapter has it's own setting that is unique compared to the one before.
Considering my huge fear of bugs. Dealing with Antlions and their little underground caves was the "horror" tone for me.

Seriously though, are you people incapable of reading? the game has teleportation AND smooth locomotion gameplay. It is NOT JUST TELEPORTATION MOVEMENT.
That way I can play it by myself and also with my friends who suffer from motion sickness! Personally, I think all VR games need both. Also, natural locomotion should try to catch on, because it feels the best

@@GemayelDaniel I think what they are talking about is the two movement options in a vr game: First movement by teleporting and continuos movement as you have in most modern games (like moving in a shooter for example).
This is the kind of vr game I have been waiting for and to make it better, it's a half life game!

You can do that and get the mod that lets you play HL1 in VR.
A mod for HL2 is still in the works and is free. Playing the Gmod VR mod showed me that it's not all simple to do.

It really does change everything you think about in a game, no longer is an interaction just "Hold E" now you actually do it! And these gameplay videos just prove how boundless VR can be.

My mom has played Ping-Pong a few times on mine and she loves it! She used to play it a lot when she was young.
~2.5 years later, I got vr and bought this game and now realize it's even better than I expected. When I saw this video before, I thought a lot of the hand motion was scripted events based on where you were. I now realize it's all 100% natural gameplay and interacting with in game physics, stuff i'm now doing multiple times every play session. I thought the crouching and swaying was built in and scripted. I now realize that's actually the player moving and crouching in real life. I've been playing this non stop for three days, and I still can't believe this is a real thing. This is mindblowing.

i remember in 2009 when i wanted to reserach how far we've come to vr and only finding some vr console frome nineties that you couldnt move because the pic would go out of focus, so you would have to stay perfectly still while playing. i remember reading that there was no progression in vr since then. and yet now we can use basic vr with iur phones :) always love humanity imagination

They believe VR is a good way to push gaming forward so they want to be at the forefront of that.
Sooner or later you'll have to catch up with the technology and join VR. At this point it's an inevitability.
There are cheaper headsets around if you don't have the cash for an Index.
But none of them are as high quality as the Index, hence the price.

Top of the line is expensive, but it doesn't mean the others are no good.
You can get a good headset for less than £350.
The Rift S is perfectly fine and enough to fully immerse you in VR.
You also have the samsung odyssey + which can be found for cheaper these days, and in terms of the visuals, it's better.
The HP reverb is slightly more expensive at about £500.
Ultimately, if you have a reasonable pc, it doesn't cost much to get into VR.
Like anything, to get the best experience it costs more, but you don't always have to have the top of the line product. A Rift S /Odyssey, or slightly higher in price and better, the HP Reverb, are good enough.
At the end of the day, just because you can't afford it, doesn't mean it sucks. That sucks for you but if you work hard you might be able to save up and afford one.
At the end of the day everything costs a price and you can't please everyone. Valve, like Oculus, want to move us into a new era of technology. The next level in gaming, a massive leap forward to deliver on what we've all desired games to fulfill.
It's not worth holding technology back just because some people can't afford it. That's not how it works.
When you get the cash, you'll enjoy this technology revolutionary leap, like those of us who are already.
All half life hype aside, this is one the best VR games I’ve ever seen.

Also, given that there is both sandbox and arena modes in boneworks that are separate from story mode, alongside the grind for the Dev weapons, I would say you are objectively false in that there are things to do after you complete the game.

I hope this won't end like starship citizen being developed forever. This looks too good to be true. How did Steam come around with this massive technology shift just like that. This game must've been secretly developed the past years. Absolutely Astounding! This is exactly where games should be in 2020.

@@linuxbullet I think you don't realize the technology shift within this game. Same graphics? Depends on your graphic card maybe. Same technical foundation? Hell no. Just the fact that you can work with objects, combine them, and interact with them in general is a huge shift. I remember a vid where they showed off the engine and how you can move 1 Rock. Some guys was tripping like "wow you can move a rock". 🤦♂️ Not realizing what it means technically. My dude im from the 90s seen wolfenstein rtcw, doom 3, punisher, the suffering, manhunt, soldier of fortune, postal and all those, also im a dev so I might be looking at this a bit different than you do.

VR is the absolute perfect medium for a half life game, half life has always been built around physics and the like and a polished VR game can really make it shine
Maybe... But shooter on rails is fk boring for me. HL when it comes to fights was always very dynamic, well static shooter is not.
