I loved verse 1, I'm not a day 1 player or anything, but I have been playing on and off for a few years now, since about 2021~ish, it was a nightmare, but it was fun actually interacting with other players and exploring with randoms you knew you'd never see again, dying at bandit camp because you couldn't parry the dagger, and getting punted into the depths by a sharko because you didn't know what the Q key did, ong all my randoms and homies hated luck 🔥

I am a day 1 player, heres the most comical detail of that day: - if pvp it would be endless parry trade - nobody with guilds day 2 - we found out vigils - everyone has a guild
aw man i just miss the first few days of exploring everything and seeing people with enchants or a bell was like a crazy sight and information was being spread around by word of mouth
i remeber old deepwoken someone once teleported to me usng hacks and thats when i decided to get 1300 elo in chime so not even a hacker could kill me thank god they have good anticheat
I remember accidentally discovering that crystallization round spark ice stomp would proc the explosions a crap ton to the point of one shotting people
ill never forget the early days. enchants were actually rare, and i was given an alchemist or maybe herbalist hat i believe with entanglement. it was ass, and the guy who gave it to me didnt see the point of having an enchant if its stats were bad. old deep had a sense of broken whimsy to every mantra and ability.
I played day one and eventually quit a few weeks in only recently coming back to the game. I quit during that time period where literally everyone was kos and I just didn't enjoy that gameplay experience especially since knowledge of strong builds and things like bells was gate kept pretty hard making these fights impossible. The only thing everyone knew at the time was what you mentioned, kill people = more luck which means better cards. I still have one of my first characters alive from that time, definitely not a day one character but probably within the first month of the game , a power 16 279 year old slot.
i remeber when i thought i had a crypt just for it to be a normal darksteel greatsword 😭 and got mad when i lost it (i just saw the model and thought i had it)
Bro verse 1 was kinda crazy ngl but that’s probably nostalgia talking but nonetheless I loved exploring everything with friends (but I still despise luck ngl)
verse 1 definitely felt a lot more like deepwoken had a theme and stuck to it, now it feels like its half jjk references with obnoxious effects and solely power creeping.
This truly takes me back to verse 1.. an incredible and wonderful game full of adventures... Ah yes when I first joined.. I immediately got kidnapped and got treated as a slave. I guess being a Felinor in Deepwoken verse 1 wasn't the best experience tbh. 💀
old deep was fun but luck was horrid so much so i got hunted so much i had became a perma freshie cause i kept getting gripped cause it was the only way to stay save
dont forget that exploiters could spoof their name and appearance to someone else so people were getting framed and false banned for almost a month straight
I remember like a couple months after release i quit because of obvious reasons. But yeah now i might start again because lot of new stuff and definitely seems more mellowed out. God i remember i had an int build before that just kept rolling rare talents sadly that shit ran out quick after getting overflowing dam
For me prime deepwoken is pre to1 update. With old loot system, old luck (not v2), almost no restrictions on some game mechanics(tp to lord regent for insta kill), mantra stacking combat 😢
i remember having a white adventures cloak at like lvl 5 in lower erisia and some dude with enforcer axe struggled to kill me and gripped me because he said I was lying and i had an assassin's cloak on
honestly ur right but i dont think the direction the game is going in rn is any better anyway. instead of fixing what the issues were they just made the issues the norm so everyone would stop complaining. and when the community wants content they just drop another legendary weapon they need to farm for so the devs get playtime rewards
although i agree current deepwoken is definitely better and more balanced than verse 1, i preferred verse 1. now yeah, its probably just nostalgia glasses, but i think the reason i enjoyed it so much more is because of how much more hardcore it was than current deepwoken, just like how dan explains it in the video. it was more like rogue lineage, dying was quick if you didnt pay attention, items were rare, builds were fun, and everything just seemed more clunky, which reminds me of rogue lineages difficult combat. although i prefer current deepwoken to old, there are certain things that i believe were better about it, and i think it would be cool to have a legacy deepwoken version of early verse 1, and maybe even open up a version from wave 0 testing, to let players experience what they originally saw in the earlier days of development, and instead of having other people tell them it was terrible, let them experience it for themselves.
verse 1 was a ride to be sure, sadly I can't miss it with the improved system of knowledge and less exploiters being capable of trying to gain the lead via cheating. I especially am glad they got rid of black markets, that's just a red flag.
Honestly I think the new combat kinda sucks, venting was a terrible addition, I get why it was added but it wasn’t worth the sacrifice, it doesn’t feel as raw and gritty as old deep
@@Some_guy0- The way things are going, conquest will probably be coming in December. Since layer 2 came out in December, and it was a big update. Conquest is probably a big update too, so it'll probably release on December.

I dont enjoy verse 2 nearly as much as verse 1. I had way more fun then. I feel like some of the biggest reasons were removing flourishing, making everything rare super easy to get (killing trading), changing parrying, making the game more brightly colored and less grim, along with many other random things. It could also be because i have 2000 hours in the game but these changes definitely had an effect
I dont care what people say old deep was NOT as good as they make it out to be it was a buggy time and ontop of it the amount of exploiters running rampant was insane
Still miss talents that had interesting ideas like old exoskeleton or original bloodshadow. Wish they tried to balance them more instead of scrapping them and continuing to add boring flat stat increase talents
