Many thanks like everyone else here said ... quite handy for someone that is only a dev in the engine and we have an external Houdini asset creator. Rider4Life
unfortunately, this time it dint work! i have Houdini FX 19.5 build 434 and the engine version avaliable is for UE5.0. my UE version is currently 5.3. Visual studio compiled sucessfully but when the project opened there was no HoudiniEngine on the main menu bar nor appears in the UE plugins list.
If it still fails to create a session, Open Houdini, Windows > Houdini Engine SessionSync > Start (in the top right corner). Then hit create session in Unreal.
@@DevGods No, I couldnt figure out why it was saying that, I put it in the project folder and in the main UE5 folder but it didnt seem to work either way. I had a look online but couldnt find a solution to the problem.
@@DevGods yes, I have houdini installed and I got the plugin you showed in the video but when I try to open Unreal before it can even load it comes up with that error message.
I'm getting this error in the UE5 log: "LogHoudiniEngine: Error: Starting up the Houdini Engine module failed: built and running versions do not match". , any help?
@@terrablader How does this unreal license step you mentioned work? I'm having the same problem as you, Apprentice license does not run the session, please help
@@DevGods I had tried from the houdini installer. When i copied the plugin in the project folder it was throwing errors. I then put it in the Engine source folder plugin runtime and removed from the project. Then it worked.
@@swait239 grab the apprentice version. Truth be told to play with the tools like the ones I showed in this video you don’t need Houdini just the plug-in and there are a ton of tools out there. The plug in is free for both commercial and non commercial
Damn dude.. I cannot thank you enough. It would have taken me days to figure this shit out. You are amazing.
No problem! I try to make the tutorials I wish I had lol
@@DevGods Totally! Well thanks again. Super helpful content!

I think I did something wrong I got an error message saying 'HoudiniEngine' failed to load because module 'Houdini Engine' could not be found.
Was this error fixed?

Are you using the launcher to both install Houdini and Houdini engine?

So what if I dont have Visual Studio? How do I proceed then? :( Thanks
You will need some kind of c++ compatible IDE to use the plug in. Sorry there is now way around that one
@@DevGods I installed Visual Studio, but when I tried to Generate VS project files, I didn't have that option. So in the end, I got stuck.

Is Houdini free?
It’s free to learn but to use commercially you will have to pay for either a subscription or a perpetual license
