That paper sheet from inside says the following: [Manufacturer address] QC PASSED (more exact translation: CHECKED BY QCD=Quality Control Department) If any defects found, please contact the manufacturer and attach this sheet and batch number. BTW, these ones are extremely popular in Russia, at least in Moscow, where I live. At the beginning of the school year the 24-color sets were completely sold out at least in two large art supply stores I often visit, but usually there are at least ten boxes on the shelf. Here their retail price is 686 roubles for 24 colors and 489 roubles for 16 colors, which is 8.90 USD and 6.34 USD respectively, very cheap.
Thank you for translating it to us. 🙏🏻 I will understand why they're popular in Russia. Aside from the fact that it's accessible being local, it's also good for the price. Here in the Philippines, Sonnet is also popular even if the price is double of the prices you gave. Even double the price, still cheaper than other paints of same performance. 🙏🏻🎨😉
I found this video because I just bought that brand of watercolors. I love the whole vibe with the birds singing in the background and your drawing. Keep it up!
Hi, yet kg. How was your experience with Sonnet? ☺️ This set is one of my most recommended affordable but quality watercolors. Thank you for the appreciation. Happy painting! 😉🙏🎨
Hi, welcome to my channel! 😊 Thank you for subscribing! And thanks for appreciating my painting and my thin voice. 😂 The birds are my good friends but theyre not always esp. when it's raining. 😊
It is exelent idea to put it in the fridge, this watercolors are lovely. I have a set of 24. Because of how sticky they are I wasn't using them for years. Finally moved them into prismacolor pencil box and paint with them a lot.
These pints are sticky because the company makes its paints with honey, like M Grahams and a few other brands. They never totally dry out in the pans, which is nice, but the downside is the stickiness. Since other brands tend to fall out of their pans in hot dry places like where I am, its a small price to pay.
Ooh.. so it's like Sennelier and MGraham. I love paints with honey and they're instanly activated. 🖌️😊🎨 Thanks for the info. And yes, j agree, they're not great for travel with the exception of sennelier paints as they pans have different formulation. 🎨😊
@@AllanJayQuesada Fully agree, I have both and Sonnet are beautifully pigmented, and have better siennas, ochres, umbers - not so muddy as in white nights.
Nice review Sir Allan as usual....
I would love it if you made videos where you just paint with affordable supplies, like the one you did here, tutorial style. Thank you for your videos 👍👍👍.
Some artists need to see other products, like to find out if the expensive materials are worth the price.. so, i need to it too. But certainly, a playlist on working with affordable materials can be a good interest in the future.
Truly beautiful painting...love it! I have watched many of your videos and I have to say I LOVE LOVE LOVE the singing chirping birds out your window! So relaxing to me. Don't change a thing with your videos I truly enjoy them. Maybe make a video showing all the lovely birds 😁👍
Thank you so much for loving my videos. 😊 🎨 Yes, i love the birds. They perch on the wires and on the roof outside my window. And only few meters away is a tree which bears fruits that they eat. 😊 I have once caught them on video, but they appear to look dark because it was taken against the light. But yes, i will try to video them sometime and include a clip of them in my future videos. Thanks for the request,! 🐦
Love watching you do thumbnails in this longer format...wish you were still doing them...even longer time spent would be great...lets us see your talent.
Would really love too as well. 😉 But most subscribers say, it's too long and draggy. 😑 I think, i would someday have a separate uncut video for swatching and painting alone. 😊
shops near my place sells sonnet 24 colours with half price of White nights 24 colours. SO i wondered if Sonnet has less pigments than white nights. Sonnet colours look good in your review. I think your awesome landscape painting helps the colours look more beautiful. I am glad to know that you will do more comparison between Sonnet and white nights. I am looking forward to it. Thank you for helpful reviews!
It's hard to see the difference when it comes to pigment load. But my observation is that the whitenights feel a bit thicker than the sonnet so i think that's because of the pigment load. Also, the sonnet look a bit more neon-like or bright.. Im not sure, pls dont quote me for this, but i suspect that sonnet has brighteners in the formula.. Again, thanks alot for watching my video. ☺ 🎨 🎨
There actually is not much difference in performance but the white nights feel a little bit thicker maybe because of higher pigment load? Thank you for watching again. 😊 🎨
@@AllanJayQuesada my thoughts exactly!! Their cheap enough I'll make up a set of them for my children, my yongest is 10 years old so a perfect age. In your opinion what's better windsorew Newton cotman 12 pans or the St. Petersburg student line? Depending on price I might just get him the regular 12 of St petersburg, if he doesn't use those I would so there's no waste lol just wanted to know your professional opinion of which brand you prefer
I appreciate your reviews of the supplies, but my most favorite part was always the painting! Love the way you paint Allan, I actually learned a lot from watching you paint. Keep up the good work! God bless you 🙏
Thanks so much, Elga for the appreciation and kind words. Encouragement as yours fuel me to continue what I do. The greatest reward I get is to know that my work has helped someone in his/her srt journey. God Bless you too and keep safe. 🙏
Hi, thank you for this review but now i can't decide between the van goth 24th, sonnet 24th and the farber castell. Something about me: aqua color beginner, wants to find good ones which are not too expensive :)
I agree with Hannah Cepillo. The Faber castell is not comparable with Van Gogh and sonnet.. but if i had to choose, this is hard, but ill go with Van Gogh for the fact that their pigment selection is better than sonnet and they literally have more colors in their range.. a proof of craftmanship.
Both paints offer vibrant and great texture. But Sonnet for me is definitely more reliable pigment and info wise. They also feel bit more transparent. You only need to be more cautious on the violets and orange as they're not as lightfast as the other colors. 😊
I really love watching your watercolor reviews, and I am currently working my way through them one by one and I am always excited when it's about paints that I own, too. 😄 I have the 21 set of Sonnet, and I really enjoy these paints. I had to get used to working with them though, as I always felt that they feel a bit differently than other watercolors. I found out that the reason for this is, that the Sonnet watercolors use a synthetic binder instead of just gum arabic. It's ok with me, I learned to adjust to this and just work with them accordingly. Aside from working with just watercolors, I love doing work in ink and then using watercolors on it, and I think the Sonnets are excellent paints for that, as they are so vibrant and very transparent. It's a shame that there were so many fugitive pigments used to make these paints, but then again this does not matter if one is not planning on passing on or hanging up original works. Excellent paints for illustrators. Oh and you can get them in a metal box if you want. My set of 21 came in watercolor tin. A really pretty one, too, it's painted yellow. I got my Sonnet paints on Amazon and I could choose between paying around 20 Euros for 24 paints in cardboard, or 28 Euros for 21 paints in a tin. I would have chosen the 24 paints, but I could not resist the pretty yellow tin. 😁 Here, this is what it looks like : www.amazon.de/dp/B083V56F7H/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0?pd_rd_i=B083V56F7H&pd_rd_w=ymqkI&pf_rd_p=d3e24f85-c2f2-4959-bef4-3acc5e4e81dc&pd_rd_wg=Vcd0Y&pf_rd_r=Z8GKBVK7HCDA3X27EM5D&pd_rd_r=67066195-1a3c-44e1-bce8-7ad02dd31f5e&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzMTNHWUI3TzlXU0oyJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMjY5MTIxMzBPSTJFT0pEUlo5NSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMjcxMDU0MzQ5SFNHWTNMNlRCUSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2RldGFpbCZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU&th=1
Oh, that's prolly the reason why Sonnet paints are really transparent and vibrant. This answers the cloud in my mind, so thank you for the research. 😉 I really love Sonnet too and really wish they expand their colors more. It's a shame we don't have access here to Sonnet in tins.. but we can purchase the tins separately so that must solve the issue. I have reviewed the 16 color set of Sonnet and now, im thinking if i could have again another review for the 24 colors.. i remember i made 3 Christmas cards last December using my Sonnet paints. Have you watched it? Here's the link. 😉🎨🙏🏻🎄🤶🎅🦌⛄ ruclips.net/video/GT48x-AR3go/видео.html
@@AllanJayQuesada Yes, it would be really nice if they would expand to have more colors, I'd love that . I just watched your video and left you a like and comment, too. Lovely work!
Hello Allan😄 A big big big thank you for your enormous work. For Sonnet, unfortunately, we have to remove all reds, pinks, violets + 2 yellows + orange (see Kimberly Crick art who did the lightfast test over 1 year !). White Nights is more interesting because we can buy the colours separately and avoid runaways.
Thank you. 🙏 y eah, i saw her test video too. Really the Sonnet is best for studio works or for sketchpad works. The artist grade counterpart White Nights is a good option cause they're available in open stock so you can select the colors that ate lightfast.😊
@@AllanJayQuesada Thank you very very much for your answer. I tried Van Gogh wich I found very opaque. I have a few colors of Wh.Nights (aureoline PY151 & quin rose PR122) witch are pretty sheer, but a lot of reviews say they are opaque ... and I am hesitant to buy more this brand. Thank you again Allan for all your great kindness !! I wish the very best for you and those you love ♥
Hi, this video is perfect but I'll begin watercolour it's my first time. what would you suggest to me? (between winsor newton cotman 14 colors and st. petersburg 12 colors) I'm really confused.
I really want to use Sonnet watercolors. I'm intrigued by the use of honey as a binder. However, the honey binder may also cause problems. I've read online that White Nights and m.Graham paints tend to grow mold especially in hot and humid areas (Philippines included) because of the honey content. This set contains honey honey which may lead to mold growth. This isn't a problem in cold countries like Russia(where the paints are made from) so I feel that these paints are geographically exclusive.
Hiii. The humidity really does encourage mold growth, and i have seen this even to paints that do not have honey like Holbein. The solution to that, which have worked for me, is to 1st, make sure the paints are clean and dried before keeping them. If they're in pans, avoid touching them cause the oils and dirt in our hands contribute to the impurities. Clean environment is needed and as much as possible, a dust free room. If you suspect impurities are in your pans, you may rinse them in running water, dry and store as usual. 2nd, try to check on the paints atleast one a week. Let them breathe once in a while. 3rd, this is a bit extra but could be very helpful. You may put dehumidifiers or desicants in the cabinet or drawer or box where you're keeping the paints. 4th, another extra tip for handpouring paints, is to add a drop of gum arabic solution with clove oil in your pan paints and mix it well. Clove oil is an antifungal and antibacterial and is used by many artisan and handmade watercolor makers. Just add a drop of clove oil to every 200ml of gum arabic solution. 5th tip and this is for tubes, is to always tightly close the lid of paints tubes to avoid humidity and dust from getting in. I had some old tubes that grew molds inside because they weren't tightly closed before. I have been hand pouring paints in pans for income in my watercolor store for 5 yrs now and have not seen molds in my pans nor have received complaints from my buyers. 😊 hope this helps.
I'm looking to upgrade to a better quality set of colours. And I have the budget to buy the 24 color set by sonnet but I'm also intrigued by the mungyo 24 color set, I'll just have to save a bit more. 😅 Which one do you think is better sir ?
Mungyo ate really vibrant paints but im afraid many of the colors are fugitive. I suggest you to watch my Mungyo review thoroughly till the end where I compared swatches from different brands. The 24 halfpans set of Mungyo has comprable price to the 12 full pans set of White Nights which is a far reliable artist grade brand. You may also want to try White Nights solo tube for only 155php each. Or other artist grade brands duch as Daniel Smith, Sennelier, or Holbein. I will ( shamelessly ) link and promote narin my Shopee art store, hope you could check it out. 😀 shp.ee/hqq796d
hello, i am really confused and stressed thats why i am asking for your help. i am in 10th grade, i am pretty good at art. but now i want to buy my first "better" watercolors. i am really confused between sonnet and white nights. i know white nights are better, they are very expensive though i do have money for them. i just think i would be able to finish the set and it would go to waste as i also have to study so pls help me sir allan
Hiii. Both Sonnet and White Nights are great watercolor sets. Both offer fulls which really are to last long. If i am to choose, i would still choose White Nights 12 full pans set over the Sonnet 24 colors set. 1st, the 12 colors of white nights have good pigment selection so they're less like to fade. You seem to be talented and serious to learn so i would suggest to get the best that you can afford. Anyway, the white nights 12 color set comes in a sturdy case. Sonnet comes only in paper box. ☺️
Hello, I'm just starting out and I don't know if I should buy the sonnet watercolors or the winsor & netwon cotman 12 set? Which one would you recommend?
I prefer tge Sonnet. At around 15usd, you get 16 colors full pans. Cotman is also good but they come in half pans. 12 colots for 25-30usd. But cotman comes in a ready to use plastic palette while sonnet comes in a paper box only. I have both in my Shopee store and the selection will just depend on your needs.
How do store those colorcharts/swatches? Do you perforate the paper yourself or is it available as a binder with the watercolor paper? I’d love to see the paints/swatches without having a sheen of a plastic on top (although I prefer to laminate the color charts that I put in my paint box/pallette so I can clean them) but would also love the flexibility of being able to take the paper out for a side by side analysis that a spiral binding and sketchbooks don’t provide
I personally prefer the texture of Sonnet as they're smoother and activates in the blink of an eye. Cotman pans can be a bit hard to activate and comes in halfpans compared to Sonnet that are in full pans. 😊
Sorry for my late reply. 🎨 🙏 you've probably chosen your set by now.. to be honest, both are great choices for the same price range.. but im leaning bit towards Sonnet asl it mentions which pigments are used.
That's really hard. Hehe. Sonnet comes only in a paper box but in full pans. VanGogh 12+3 comes in a very useful and sturdy palette and a brush but only in halfpans.. Pigment wise and palette wise, id go with vangogh 12+3. Quantity of paints wise, Sonnet is the one. ☺️
oh my God. I can just imagine how cold that is! Ive only experienced snow once. In Japan. haha. and I was so excited, i played outside and didnt care. well, it's not the case if youre used to it right?hehe. Take care and keep safe there. :)
@@AllanJayQuesada Well, it might get a bit colder here in Germany, but usually not as much as now ^^' We got like half a meter of snow (some areas even more) and -16°C degrees today, which really is a lot for our otherwise pretty mild Middle/Central European climate. For an area that is actually on the same latitude as, say, a good part of Canada we really got lucky due to the North Atlantic Stream ^^' Now's ja bit of an exception because we got that weird meteorological thing happening where the air current from the North Pole is blowing our way and a second coming from the Sahara is trapping cold air masses over here (as far as I understood that right. It's not exactly my field of expertise ^^') The last time it was so cold here was actually before my dad was born, so... doesn't happen all too often ;) And it actually made for some real cool photos 🥰 Like Christmas postcard material 😊 It's just not so much driving a car in that weather 😂
Hi sir Allan! I was planning to buy a watercolor set but I just can't seem to choose which should I get Sonnet or White Nights or Kuretake Gansai Tambi.I have been debating myself over this for a month-
Hi Angel. Based on your 3 options, you have a clear raking. Here: 1. White Nights - artist grade WC 2. Sonnet- Student grade WC 3. Kurerake GT - Craft grade WC 😊

Delikado sa monetization. haha. So, my landscapes every after reviews have no exact references. These are from composite images from my imagination and from other images, paintings or sceneries I randomly see online or in actual. :)
Hello po kuya ano po recommend nyo sonnet watercolor or superior watercolor? Nag start po ako mag watercolor nung last year second time ko na po bibili ng watercolor
Sonnet po. Mukhang mas mahal pero of icompare mo ang quantity, mas marami naman si Sonnet kasi full pans siya and halfpan lang si Superior. Pero since nacoconsider niyo na po si Sonnet, why not go for her artist grade sister, which is White Nights.? Ung 24 colors ng Sonnet is nasa 1k pero naka carton lang lalagyan non. Ung 12 colors ng white nights nasa 1.7k pero may sturdy palette na siya and professional grade na. 😉
Sonnet wins for me no doubt. Everything's better, vibrancy, transparency, mixability, saturation and more. Why i would think as more comparable to Sonnet is VanGogh. But VanGogh wins by a bit to pigment selection. If you are considering Sonnetz you might want to checkout as well her artist grade sister, White Nights. 😊
@@AllanJayQuesada And here I already want to buy W&N from China. Thank you so much for answering me, now I'm definitely going to Sonnet . And again: I love your paintings! a hug from Brazil🇧🇷💛
You should also consider that Sonnet is twice the quantity. They're full pans. Plus Sonnet gives the pigment codes. They're high quality student grade paints. 😊
Pg8 is really lovely, right? 😍But ive not done any lightfastness test yet. Maybe when ive completed reviewing all my paints, id test tge lightfastness of all, all at once.

Hello. Did you mean winsor and Newton Cotman? Yes, they're comparable. Although I prefer the Sonnet in pans compared sa pans ng Cotman. Rewets instantly kasi semi moist. Edge of Cotman is it has 40 colors in its range as compared sa Sonnet na 24 lang as far as I remember and also, Cotmans is widely available. I havent tried the cotman tubes yet though. Sonnet is rare na. In my Shopee, i have few sets left pero 16 colors nalang. Ubos na ung 24.
Hi. I can't say it's the best for the theme, (because the color selection is very basic), but it should definitely work well depending on how you mix your botanical colors.
Oh sorry to keep you waiting.. But to give a hint, it is actually legit. But w&n claims that it was "made for a specific target buyers in the region".. So, they still jndirectly recommend the sets from US..
@@AllanJayQuesada omg thank you!! Faber castell has there children's line in China I tried the colored pencils there actually really nice, I did a rose with them just to see and they turned out great! Okay I gotta try those now :D

Hi po, may I ask why sonnet is a student grade and white nights a professional grade? So far i think sonnet have more transparent paints than white nights that has semi opaque
Hello. 1st of, how were you able to figure out that there are more transparent colors in Sonnet than in White Nights? Second, please do take note that transparency of paints is not always the basis of it being a student grade or artist grade. Some colors are opaque because of the pigments used like the cobalts and cadmiums. These paints are usually more expensive and most of the time more present in artist grade lines. Some student grade lines use 'hues' to substitute these expensive pigments. The sonnet range has only 31 colors. While the White Nights range has 86 including the new colors. That alone is basis of comparison which is artist and student grade. The wider selection is intended for varying preferences of artists. While a limited range focuses on basics which is more designed for learners and students. Please be guided that the main basis in categorizing a line's student and artist grade paints is through the pigment load.
@@AllanJayQuesada thank you sir for elaborating the differences between the two paints, im still learning about watercolors and this is very informative
@@AllanJayQuesada btw sir allan may I ask if have you ever tried the sakura koi paints that are very popular for beginners but it seems that sonnet is one of the best student grade paints and they are not chalky like sakura koi..

The thing with handprint is that, it is not updated anymore for i think a decade now. He also admitted there may be other pigments outside his site. I believe what determines if a paint is student grade or not is not just the pigments chosen but the overall quality of the manufacturing, and other components.. and could alao be pigment load. The manufacturer of Sonnet tells that Sonnet watercolors are student grade. White Nights is their artist grade. May i know which Pigments aren't avaialble at handprint? Hello sir! I have followed your recommendation and bought myself a set of sonnet watercolors. I have just received it now actually. Although I was worried because I saw a squared sticker at the back which has "101019" written on it. I'm wondering whether it is the expiry date or the date it was made or just random nos. for other purposes. Do you know what that is? And uhm, how will I know if my set is expired? Thanks a lot!
Don't worry about it. My own Sonnet says 101018, and it still works as new till this day. I think the is the stock date. But for as long as the paints are well taken care of and wont mold, they're totally fine. The older they get, the mkre valuable they become pa nga. I have some vintage paints that are bought at a more expensive price because of age.. so, that proves, they dont really expire basta maalagaan. They may deteriorate, or crack in time pero may solution naman jan. 😉
Hi sir allan, may I know which is better, the sonnet watercolors or the W&N pocket box 12 colors? I'm planning to buy a new watercolor set but I'm torn between the two😭thanksss😁
I honestly enjoyed using the Sonnet watercolors, but if i had to choose for a more serious purpose, id go for W&N pocket box. Is that the cotman? Im choosing it over sonnet because the chosen pigments arr generally more reliable when it comes to lightfastness (because it's important to me) and the box itself. It's very convenient. The problem with the w&n sets is the color choice. I dont agree to their decision of having both raw sienna and yellow ochre in a 12 color set. Also, their lemom yellow is very opaque. They also dont have a cool, a rose or a magenta based red at the 12 color set, instead they chose alizarin crimson. It's fine, if youre not into making florals though. And you can easily find half pans of colors you want included in your set. 😊 By the way, my comments about the colors included are based on the 12 color cotman and w&n pro 14color sets that i own. Better check also the colors included before buying, if it matters to you too. 😊

Yes. Sonnet is better because they provided the pigment codes, they're full pans and theyre more vibrant. Please finish watching the reviews up to the end to see the comparison of brands where i say which is better.
Hello po. I'm sorry that in this video, it was still a little hanging question. But now, i can directly say that White Nights is better in almost every factor except for the price. Hehe. The Pigments selected for the entire small range of Sonnet colors are very limited making some of the Pigments, lower in lightfastness. WhiteNights on the other hand has a wider range of color choices so it gives you more chances for making a fade-proof palette. Theyve added i think 20more colors last year and 6 morr this year. Even their containers speak of which one is better, right? But yes, White Nights is artist grade and Sonnet is student grade. That is a better answer to wrap up which one is better. 😉🎨
Hi! New sub po! I do love your reviews. May question po ako, I want to start selling my artworks but Im quite tight on a budget right now, is it okay po to use student grade watercolor? Thanks po.
Hi. Thanks and welcome to my channel. I don't recommend the use of student grades for professional use. It's like being not very fair kasi.., unless you tell your client that you are using student grade, and that the painting may fade overtime,.. if the client is ok with it, then, you're good.. there are student grades though that provide pigment codes like vangogh, sonnet, cotman etc. Choose the pigments that are lightfast from these brands, para safe kahit na student grade. What are these pigments? Please watch my Top 40 pigments video for that. At the comment, naka list na rin ung pigments that are recommended. 😉If that sounds complicated, just get Sonnet, cotman or vangogh as those are reliable student grades. Avoid brands that dont privide the codes.

Naka paper box Lang then malambot na plastic ung sonnet. Kailangan mo Rin ilipat sa mas sturdy na container.. in Lang isang medyo off sa sonnet e. Nsa video Rin un.hehe Salamat sa pagsupport Po. Hello po, Sir Allan. I have seen your review with the Marie's Masters and also this one. I've been planning to upgrade my watercolor, ano po sa tingin niyo 'yong mas maganda since halos magkalapit lang din po 'yong price nila? I'll wait for your answer, thank you po 💙
I have both this Maries Masters and Sonnet at my Shopee store, but to tell you honestly, anghirap pumili. Kasi yung Maries Masters ay pro grade and ung Sonnet ay student grade pero high quality. Siguro, ill go for Maries Masters kasi 9ml each yan eh. Mahigit sa 1 full pans magagawa jan. Though i dint recommend handpouring it kasi parang they dry hard.. though easy to activate naman.
Thank you! in their box, they gave a lightfastness rating.. some colors are rated not very lightfast , if i remember correctly, it's the orange and violet. if you want to use this for commissions, i think it is best first to conduct your own lightfastness test to make sure colors are not gonna fade. Sonnet are quality paints as student grade paints and not as professional paints, so i cant really trust without testing for myself, dba. :)
I really love your watercolor reviews because they are detailed and easy to understand. I also love watching your videos while hearing the birds chirping, it is so relaxing 😌 And Sir. Allan, I'd like to ask your opinion. I am considering of buying the Sonnet Watercolor but I'm still thinking of which set should I buy, the set of 16 or 24? 🤔 It would be very helpful if ever you answer po🤗
Hello. Thank you for the kind words and appreciation. 🙏 Honestly, the Sonnet 16 colors offer a very balanced color selection already. The 24colors set is a treat with convenience mixes. Pigment wise though, youll find that some colors in the 24 are just mixture of what's already present in the 16 like the turquoise. Also, since Sonnet is the student grade of White Nights, you won't be finding a range of reliable pigments in sonnet as there in white Nights. 😀 Pls allow to flex narin my Shopee store where i have some watercolor brands. 😁 shp.ee/hqq796d
Thank you so much po sir. Allan for your immediate response, I really appreciate your kindness and for giving time answering every comments and concerns here in the comment section 😊 And I also have already followed your shopee shop a few months ago finding a lot of great quality watercolor products. I'll definitely buy in your shop as soon as I have enough money. Once again sir Allan thank you so much po, God bless and stay safe po always 🤗
Siyempre Sonnet po kasi 1st, full pans siya, 2nd may Pigment codes, so sure tayo na Pigments ang gjnamit and not dyes. If you watch mh reviews till the end, lalo yung mga bago, medyo naka rank na yung mga brands from worst to best sa comparison portion. Pjnakapakita ko ton ung swatches per brand.. ung question kasi if for beginners or not, ang masasabi ko lang is to alwags choose the best preferred thant you can afford. Yung ibang paints sinasabi lang na for beginners kasi mura. Pero may nga beginners djn naman na afford ang mahal, so by all means get the better paints. 😉
I got my Sonnet 16 colors for 649php though. 24 colors then was 700plus. So, that makes it more expensive than Prang.. Though i would prefer Sonnet over Prang. 😊
I really want you to answer me please, is the white nights half pan worth? I was about to buy it but I'm afraid tat it's too small... what do you thin, please? Thank you so much for this content!!!
@@AllanJayQuesada oh thank you so much, I saw white nights half pan being sell at aliexpress, I'm going to buy sonnet, but I wish I had white nights :) thank you
@@OpsGab those halfpans at Aliexpress are handpoured by Chinese sellers from tube, not official pans from White Nights company. Sonnet is the student grade of white nights which is also not bad at all.
Hi! I’m thinking of getting a seperate tin case kaso iba pala ang size niya sa usual half pan and full pan, kasya po ba ang 24 pans ng Sonnet sa usual na 24-half-pan tin case na available sa ol shops?
sa Tatlong yan, Paul Rubens po ang nagsasabing Artist Grade sila.. and if that's the basis, sila ang Panalo.. hehe. Pero ganito. haha. since halos magkakalevel sila, tirahin po natin yung edge ng bawat isa. if gusto mo po ng set na kumpleto na, may brush and tin, maraming kulay at mura.. Paul Rubens na.. if gusto mo po ng madaling mag rewet, mura at full pans na.. go for Sonnet. If you work mostly in tubes. go for the Cotman. NOte: di po advised ilagay sa pans ang cotman... tumitigas po. if cotman po mapipili nio at gusto niyo ng pans, get their pans po.
Hello po! I've been wanting to buy this watercolor but wala po sya sa online shop ng deovir and ang choice of courier ng sellforacause2015 is unsupported sa area ko and other stores ran out of stock ☹ gusto ko po sanang magtanong kung meron po ba kayong alam na ibang stores na nagse-sell nito (in the same price)?

Hi. 2 yrs palang siya sakin pero twice ko lang nagamit. The last was when i made Christmas cards exactly a year ago. As of today, ok parin naman sila. I have many Paints including lower grades like Prang, Pentel and best buy, but after decades, they still work fine. As long as you take care of them well, i think they're gonna last long.. so don't worry about the "shelf life". Oh, the issue sa mga cheap paints, they dry up in tubes.. yun pala. But this sonnet, they remain moist.
@@AllanJayQuesada Thank you po for the detailed answer. Can you share po how you take care of them? Or any tips po on how to properly store them? Yung mga nababasa ko po kasi eh parang nag aapply lang sa pang malalamig na klima.

That paper sheet from inside says the following:
[Manufacturer address]
QC PASSED (more exact translation: CHECKED BY QCD=Quality Control Department)
If any defects found, please contact the manufacturer and attach this sheet and batch number.
I will understand why they're popular in Russia. Aside from the fact that it's accessible being local, it's also good for the price. Here in the Philippines, Sonnet is also popular even if the price is double of the prices you gave. Even double the price, still cheaper than other paints of same performance. 🙏🏻🎨😉
Ey wtf, white and night was 10times of it's original price in indonesia.

Thank you for this and I really loved hearing all those wonderful birds in the background!!
Thank you, Janet. 🙏 (though my reply is a year late. ✌️)
It is exelent idea to put it in the fridge, this watercolors are lovely. I have a set of 24. Because of how sticky they are I wasn't using them for years. Finally moved them into prismacolor pencil box and paint with them a lot.
Yeah, they can get very sticky, especially in humid areas. Glad you still have them and gave them a new home for them to be more accessible .
@@AllanJayQuesada Not only made with honey but they are poured, not extruded. So they stay much more moist and work up quickly from the cake.
I have White Nights watercolors, and the ingredients say "gum arabic". No mention of honey. I wonder whether the honey thing is a myth.
I got these too, they don't seem any different to the regular ones. The quality and vibrancy feels the same xxx
I agree. And at some point, it actually looks a bit more vibrant than the artist grade white nights. 😊
@@AllanJayQuesada Fully agree, I have both and Sonnet are beautifully pigmented, and have better siennas, ochres, umbers - not so muddy as in white nights.
Nice review Sir Allan as usual....
Yes, masarap siya gamitin actually. 😊 🎨 Salamat sir! 😊

shops near my place sells sonnet 24 colours with half price of White nights 24 colours.
Yes sonnet has 32 colors in the range, st. Petersburg 60 or 70 I believe

Hi, thank you for this review but now i can't decide between the van goth 24th, sonnet 24th and the farber castell. Something about me: aqua color beginner, wants to find good ones which are not too expensive :)
I srsly won't recommend fcw, it's a bit too expensive for it's quality :< or at least that's my opinion
Personally I think the set is missing indigo blue, but I still am looking forward to buy it
Yeah. I agree. Even in their 24 colors set, they dont have indigo or a cool black. You need to mix it.. 😊 🎨
hi sir allan, can you help me to choose between miya himi watercolour/sonnet watercolour? I'm new to watercolor and i want to paint some landscapes😊
Both paints offer vibrant and great texture. But Sonnet for me is definitely more reliable pigment and info wise. They also feel bit more transparent. You only need to be more cautious on the violets and orange as they're not as lightfast as the other colors. 😊
Naks naman. Vlogger na! Congrats arch!
Hahahah. Pang ganitong vlog lang kuya. Watercolor. Hehe

Ui grabe naman yun. Wag magpagutom lara sa art mats! Hehehe
May you tell me how many millimeters a single pan height is?
Hi. It's the same height as a usual halfpan. Height is 9mm. But take note that sides are bit slanted/diagonal.
I'm looking to upgrade to a better quality set of colours. And I have the budget to buy the 24 color set by sonnet but I'm also intrigued by the mungyo 24 color set, I'll just have to save a bit more. 😅
Which one do you think is better sir ?
😀 shp.ee/hqq796d

quick answer is SOnnet ofcourse. Sonnet gives pigment codes. pls watch the comparison doon po sa o.win review :)
hello,
i am really confused and stressed thats why i am asking for your help.
i am in 10th grade, i am pretty good at art. but now i want to buy my first "better" watercolors. i am really confused between sonnet and white nights. i know white nights are better, they are very expensive though i do have money for them. i just think i would be able to finish the set and it would go to waste as i also have to study
so pls help me sir allan
@@AllanJayQuesada thank you so much for replying this really helped me!!
@@AllanJayQuesada thank you for answering
How do store those colorcharts/swatches? Do you perforate the paper yourself or is it available as a binder with the watercolor paper? I’d love to see the paints/swatches without having a sheen of a plastic on top (although I prefer to laminate the color charts that I put in my paint box/pallette so I can clean them) but would also love the flexibility of being able to take the paper out for a side by side analysis that a spiral binding and sketchbooks don’t provide
love this! thanks for sharing! i'd love to see you swatch them side by side with white nights as you mentioned at 26.30 :D

It's not exactly my field of expertise ^^') The last time it was so cold here was actually before my dad was born, so... doesn't happen all too often ;) And it actually made for some real cool photos 🥰 Like Christmas postcard material 😊

Hi Allan, how is your process when it comes to painting landscape, do you have a photo reference or you just your creative thought?
Hello Hazel. Whenever I have references here on RUclips, I make sure, I show it or atleast mention the source. It's difficult to be called for violating property rights.
Hi Allan what travel brush are you using here, its so thin ?
Hii. That's the isabey travel brush. Is should've used a bigger or a flat one.hehe
hi, can you clear any of my doubts? between watercolor winsor & newton china and sonnet, which one should i choose and why. love your paintings!🥰

Do you think I should buy Sonnet or Superior watercolor. Sonnet is twice the price but I'm willing to pay more. Super confused. Any suggestions?
You should also consider that Sonnet is twice the quantity. They're full pans. Plus Sonnet gives the pigment codes. They're high quality student grade paints. 😊

Hello!~ I would like to ask if this ones comparable to winsor and newton? quality since its like a student grade version of white nights? *thank u in advance!~ and a fellow fil as well lol*

@@elsewherebruh if you are pertaining to Sakura Koi, sketchbox, yes, ive tried and reviewed it here too. ruclips.net/video/d_43S75ZUv8/видео.html
The tubes, not yet. For me, hindi siya chalky. Baka more on muddy when you mix some colors. Kasi when you say chalky, when you rub the dried painting with your finger, the paints transfer to your finger. Yun ung chalky. The result of mixing too many unmatching pigments or opaque colors, un ang muddy po. Not good. I think, sonnet is far better than the Koi in sketchbox..

Some of these pigment colors are not listed on handprint...most not listed are considered student grade at best.
The thing with handprint is that, it is not updated anymore for i think a decade now. He also admitted there may be other pigments outside his site. I believe what determines if a paint is student grade or not is not just the pigments chosen but the overall quality of the manufacturing, and other components.. and could alao be pigment load.

I bought this exact set last 2018 at Deovir for about 400 pesos.
I like the colors but I ended up giving this set to my officemate.

Yes. Sonnet is better because they provided the pigment codes, they're full pans and theyre more vibrant. Please finish watching the reviews up to the end to see the comparison of brands where i say which is better.
are these honey base?
No, i dont think soo. But it's interesting, these are semimoist.. maybe other mix like glycerin.
Sir ,may I ask which one is better? Sonnet or white nights?
@@AllanJayQuesada Thanks a lot for your reply. I ' ve already bought the white night 24 color paint, only 30.99 on ebay. They will arrive tomorrow!
Hi!

Thank you! in their box, they gave a lightfastness rating.. some colors are rated not very lightfast , if i remember correctly, it's the orange and violet. if you want to use this for commissions, i think it is best first to conduct your own lightfastness test to make sure colors are not gonna fade. Sonnet are quality paints as student grade paints and not as professional paints, so i cant really trust without testing for myself, dba. :)

It would be very helpful if ever you answer po🤗
Hello. Thank you for the kind words and appreciation. 🙏
Honestly, the Sonnet 16 colors offer a very balanced color selection already. 😀
