Totally agree! Could be even more functional if placed near the door along the wall corner ( couple shower ) and it will get less water on it .

    Do the hardwork.
Pick yourself back up, when bad news comes your way.

    Add personal touches.
    Get advice.

Teak sailboat owner here ! To restore teak :
    1. Sand the teak
    2. Bleach the teak (a bit of bar keepers friend in water, then scrub the wood, let sit for 15 min and rince very very well. It makes all the wood color even again.)
    3. Apply teak oil (you have to reapply at least once a year) or teak sealer (reapply ever 2-3 years) 😊

And I just want to shoutout the video team too, when I think about the months of footage since starting and you turning the final video around in under two weeks from project completion, that’s a major win in and of itself! 24:26 Not sure you'll see this, but biggest game changer in both my showers was little stone rounded shelves in the corners. They're attached with silicone and they are sturdy as can be... I have photos but my tiler did them for 100$ a shower (2 shelves) and they have a tiny slope to keep water from collecting and they are 10/10. Hope you see this. Stools are great but the shelves are the best to keep things drying out. Ps I'm in Ottawa so definitely Canada approved
Pps theyre nice and slim and i didnt need to design around them. I put them in one shower like 6 years after... After struggling with sticky shelves and hanging storage for years

It looks like a boutique hotel bathroom. I’m always amazed at how important it is to see a project through to the end to see the whole vision come together. I mean, I know it’s been planned out and the concept is solid, but there is always that awkward “not quite done yet” phase where everything looks a bit 🤔 and then all of a sudden it all comes together and looks so good!! That lighted mirror seemed to instantly add that sparkle and hit of glam. I love all the wood and the way that floor added personality and character and kept the room from looking too modern for the overall aesthetic of the house. Job well done! You both must be SOOOO happy it’s finally done!!

I live in England. I have a dual fuel towel rail in my bathroom. It comes on with the gas fired central heating in winter. In summer it’s electric only and comes on at pre-set times as it has a timer. English summers aren’t always warm and the towels are always dry. I have an electric only one with a timer in my downstairs toilet.

I grew up having heated towel racks where we actually used them. I loved having a warm room and warm towels and clothes after a shower. In my first apartment I had no heating at all which I think set me up for the following. In my second apartment it was the only heating source in the bathroom and linked to central heating. It took way too long to heat the (big) bathroom so we would have had to had it running at all times which we decided was too expensive so we never turned it on. In our current apartment it's a plug in one in addition to our floor heating. We don't use it here either. It's nice to have but in my opinion not worth it. I rather shower hot and use the cold room as an opposite to get my body working like others walk in the snow after a sauna haha

*Modern, Earthy, Organic* . A beautiful space to start or end the day in. The cedar was a super smart choice for the ceiling and I love the way Austin incorporated it into the door transition. Kudos to Rochelle on the vanities. Do monitor the feet on the teak stool in the shower for mold/mildew and squeegee those glass doors and tile EVERY time if hard water is an issue. Enjoy!

If this were my bathroom, I wouldn't be able to resist adding many, many, MANY green leafy plants to the space. I don't know what the light situation is like, but it's so spa-like and so 70s that I think plants would be very welcome there.

If you're worried about drilling into the tiles in the shower, you can look into vertical tension rod shelves!!

    • @mandymoe6493
      @mandymoe6493 9 месяцев назад +1

I used one of those and had rust stains on the floor tile after just a few days. I had to scrub them multiple times and was so glad I got rid of them as it was a newly renovated rental... Luckily the landlord finally agreed to purchase a sticky shelf which we had no issue with for 2-3 years until we moved. I'm sure there are better vertical rods than mine but be aware of your purchase is what I'm trying to say.

Becky, it’s incredible! I loved watching the whole process and hearing your rationale behind decisions like the large tile in the shower and no shower shelf. I bought my home two years ago and through DIYing I am learning a lot about balancing nice finishes with practicality and maintenance. Slow thoughtful design is the best and I LOVE these makeovers! Finding unique secondhand finishes, reusing what you have, and investing in good quality materials, chef’s kiss! Excellent job!!! This bathroom is gorgeous!!!

More Becky and Austin projects please. I liked seeing the two of you working together on this bathroom renovation. It looked like so much work and you shared how realistic it is to have some big unexpected problems arise.
For the teal floor tiles, they look amazing with the darker stain of the vanities, but the tiles make the cedar trim look WAY too yellow. It could just be how it's picked up by the camera. Maybe you would consider staining the cedar so it is less yellow. Just a suggestion.

This reveal has been well-worth the wait because it’s by far my favorite TSG space to date!!! Becky and Rochelle have truly outdone themselves this time with their design choices and craftsmanship. Perfect combination of diy, upcycling, giving loved decor new life, and investing in worthy pieces like the shower!!! Job well done to the whole team!!!

I always love Becky videos! Rarely ever a wasteful moment. Most of the convo clips are reasonable and helpful.
Love the bathroom! And please no to the final countdown theme song -- but maybe your own version of the "final touches" song

I like the floor tiles more than I thought I would. They look great with everything else. Wow, what a great bathroom, such a great vibe. Like it's 70s, but modern. Love it!!!!

It turned out so beautiful! Your work is so inspiring ❤
The only thing I wouldn't have done, is the light near the rainshower.
    Electricity and water almost together.
In our country there must be at least 60 cm space between shower and light.
    ...I don't wanna die.

Towel bars are so popular in Europe. I love the towel bars. So warm and keeps the bathroom heated too!

Thank you for sharing when you got help! It makes this whole makeover feel so much more attainable and scalable for my own skills and abilities. As a DIY-er and home owner, I always struggle with when I should call in the pros- plumbing is definitely one are where I need professionals because I am so clueless about anything plumbing related!

You could buy or make a hanging caddy on your glass shower screen for the shampoo+conditioner bottles, if the stool is too low and not enough space for your bathroom things. Just an idea. Loved your hard work and effort Becky. Excellent craftsmanship Rochelle.
