Teak sailboat owner here ! To restore teak :
    1. Sand the teak
    2. Bleach the teak (a bit of bar keepers friend in water, then scrub the wood, let sit for 15 min and rince very very well. It makes all the wood color even again.)
    3. Apply teak oil (you have to reapply at least once a year) or teak sealer (reapply ever 2-3 years) 😊

It looks like a boutique hotel bathroom. I’m always amazed at how important it is to see a project through to the end to see the whole vision come together. I mean, I know it’s been planned out and the concept is solid, but there is always that awkward “not quite done yet” phase where everything looks a bit 🤔 and then all of a sudden it all comes together and looks so good!! That lighted mirror seemed to instantly add that sparkle and hit of glam. I love all the wood and the way that floor added personality and character and kept the room from looking too modern for the overall aesthetic of the house. Job well done! You both must be SOOOO happy it’s finally done!!

I live in England. I have a dual fuel towel rail in my bathroom. It comes on with the gas fired central heating in winter. In summer it’s electric only and comes on at pre-set times as it has a timer. English summers aren’t always warm and the towels are always dry. I have an electric only one with a timer in my downstairs toilet.

I grew up having heated towel racks where we actually used them. I loved having a warm room and warm towels and clothes after a shower. In my first apartment I had no heating at all which I think set me up for the following. In my second apartment it was the only heating source in the bathroom and linked to central heating. It took way too long to heat the (big) bathroom so we would have had to had it running at all times which we decided was too expensive so we never turned it on. In our current apartment it's a plug in one in addition to our floor heating. We don't use it here either. It's nice to have but in my opinion not worth it. I rather shower hot and use the cold room as an opposite to get my body working like others walk in the snow after a sauna haha

24:26 Not sure you'll see this, but biggest game changer in both my showers was little stone rounded shelves in the corners. They're attached with silicone and they are sturdy as can be... I have photos but my tiler did them for 100$ a shower (2 shelves) and they have a tiny slope to keep water from collecting and they are 10/10. Hope you see this. Stools are great but the shelves are the best to keep things drying out. Ps I'm in Ottawa so definitely Canada approved
Pps theyre nice and slim and i didnt need to design around them. I put them in one shower like 6 years after... After struggling with sticky shelves and hanging storage for years

A diy idea for the storage in the shower : a wood shelf hanging on the glass panel, did that in my own shower and it's really nice as its fully customizable for your own needs, it doesn't eat up floor space and is out of the waters way !

*Modern, Earthy, Organic* . A beautiful space to start or end the day in. The cedar was a super smart choice for the ceiling and I love the way Austin incorporated it into the door transition. Kudos to Rochelle on the vanities. Do monitor the feet on the teak stool in the shower for mold/mildew and squeegee those glass doors and tile EVERY time if hard water is an issue. Enjoy!

  • @embyrwulf

If you're worried about drilling into the tiles in the shower, you can look into vertical tension rod shelves!!

    • @mandymoe6493
      @mandymoe6493 3 месяца назад +1

I used one of those and had rust stains on the floor tile after just a few days. I had to scrub them multiple times and was so glad I got rid of them as it was a newly renovated rental... Luckily the landlord finally agreed to purchase a sticky shelf which we had no issue with for 2-3 years until we moved. I'm sure there are better vertical rods than mine but be aware of your purchase is what I'm trying to say.

The bathroom looks amazing! Pro Tip: Use a clear caulking in between the wall and the makeup counter, and in between the vanity sink and the piece of backsplash (This will ensure no water or debris of any kind will harm the walls) Hope this helps! 😆

I’m soo impressed by the result! I honestly doubted that green tile and the whole aesthetic, until I saw it all come together. You have vision and great taste, Becky! I’m glad you trusted your instincts.

I have had an ikea vanity for years and I’m still obsessed with it! So much storage, and easy to clean.
If you decide you need stick-on shelves in the shower I would recommend the Command brand. They have a line specifically for showers/bathrooms. I sometimes have six bottles on it and it hasn’t budged. Haven’t tried removing it yet…

Becky and Austin, you should be soooo proud of what you accomplished. I remember how understandably upset you were Becky, when you realized the water damage to your house was so expensive. You've both done an AMAZING job on this bathroom!!! I left a message suggesting getting rid of the raised part of the bathroom floor and questioned whether I had any business doing so, but you gu;ys did (not necessarily because I suggested it, I know! Doing a job right the first time was my reasoning. Man, you've both done it perfectly! This will add so much value to your house. Becky, you're an awesome designer. Yaaaay!!
