I actually like the dark espresso brown. It's grown on me. Definitely would take it over gray but I get a lot of people don't know how to style with brown. It's more versatile than people think at the same time its more vintage than modern. You really would have to know what you're doing to make it look more modern than not

This is beautiful! Sorry for your fall, hope you are doing better now, Kelsey! One strong suggestion: Curtains on the window for better view of the monitors. It will ease Elliott's eyes (I don't know in English, but he can get "tired eyesight" if he is forcing his view too much to see the monitor). Even when the brightness is full, with sunlight sometimes it's not enough and he can get headaches.

I love this, especially the brown paint! One thought i had - you could build a little removable wooden box over the stove top (like people do with gas stoves in small places) and I think it would add another nice touch. Anyhow, this was a great example of doing more with the spaces you have.

I suffered a concussion in oct '22 and that winter started noticing some things tasted different or badly, your comment made me look into post concussion syndrome and change of taste and smell can be one and I feel like I finally figured it out.
The custom desk is gorgeous but sadly the dark brown walls make it kinda disappear as a fabulous piece. It makes total sense that you wanted to add some color to the area but the desk alone would have done that. If anything painting the wainscot a much lighter version of any color other than brown would have worked great there. Love the taking the color line across the window! YIKES!! Just saw you fall:-( Hope you are all good now. The wallpaper inside the cabinet looks great!
A monitor mount creates so much extra desk space, literally just got a double one for my work desk at home and the amount of space it freed up is incredible.

You should make a nice wooden burner cover for the stove top with a matching stain to the desk. That could tie the office corner colors to the kitchen space and make the surface area of the stove more usable while it's not utilized for cooking. Also would make the whole space a little less kitchen-y.

They're everywhere now!make one for the stove top (which is what they were originally created for), giving you more counrer-type space and a place to knead your dough! It would be another way to camouflage the kitchen into an office. Again, great job!
I use an ikea LÄMPLIG chopping board on top of my gas stove in my small kitchen for more surface space. The chopping board is large, fully covers the stove and has a lip that covers the raised grate section.

Ouch, that fall was not fun, glad you were okay. I find the dark brown works well as an office space, but it really does contrast how light and bright the kitchen looked when it was white. But like you said, if it's to be used as a kitchen again, it can be repainted easily!
The brown in this room looks great! Rug is just right. It's a beautiful redo of the space and Rochelle's desk is just amazing! I have many types of plants but my pothos is special -- goes back to a beloved older cousin, one of the few in her generation who escaped before WWII. She was minimally educated but smart and incredibly kind. She gave me the pothos that all the rest have come from (my grown kids all have plants from it). The pothos is a survivor, just like her. So appreciate Elliott's plants!
This is my add-on tip for anyone who wants to change the fabric on an office chair, glue gun another fabric of your choice over the existing one, I do this all the time and it works perfectly, especially on items that are difficult to replace or change.
Its lovely that you did a surprise makeover for your partner. I liked it, the colours are masculine, go with the existing kitchen but still looks dramatic.

*Amazing Compromise* . I don't know how I would feel if my "office" was in the kitchen on the daily, then again I have my computer stashed in an armoire and it's my favorite spot because it's filled with inspo in the background. I love the brown color, rug and desk. The desk in the corner provides great natural light and a view of the outdoors. Great decision on the open shelving and incorporating the plants. Thumbs up on the curtain to hide a very utilitarian space. The one element I would consider adding is a wood tray on the stove top to conceal the burners. With all the talent in TSG team, I'm sure something could be done that doesn't feel too farmhouse.
Same here, I only have vacuum and the hand broom for the pieces that I want to broom first (soil when transplanting plants, big pieces of glass if something gets broken and for urgent cases when something needs to be swept after 10 pm when neighbours are resting). I think vacuuming is the best, because it doesnt lift the dust and the small particles are also vacuumed.
So I’ve had 5 concussions and a TBI and it definitely looks like you have one. You can see it in your eyes, and hear it in your voice after you got home from the clinic. Take care of yourself!!
Wow! You're so lucky you weren't alone! I got concussed when I was home alone and didn't realize I had a concussion until months later😅 The confusion can make you too fuzzy to realize you might need help. I turned out okay, but it makes me worry for myself and others now
The makeover was really lovely and such a sweet thing to do for Elliott! Also I'm happy that Kelsey is okey, concussions aren't a laughing matter even if they're light. I've have had two concussions in my life and the last one was pretty bad to the point that I should've taken a sick leave. What I noticed is: dark rooms, no screens, quiet and some light but heart raising exercise is good for the noggin. Don't know how long ago this was but I hope she's feeling better.

A tip for painting headboard: if you get a roller sleeve with a longer nap, it’ll have a much easier time getting into those grooves

*Amazing Compromise* . I don't know how I would feel if my "office" was in the kitchen on the daily, then again I have my computer stashed in an armoire and it's my favorite spot because it's filled with inspo in the background. I love the brown color, rug and desk. The desk in the corner provides great natural light and a view of the outdoors. Great decision on the open shelving and incorporating the plants. Thumbs up on the curtain to hide a very utilitarian space. The one element I would consider adding is a wood tray on the stove top to conceal the burners. With all the talent in TSG team, I'm sure something could be done that doesn't feel too farmhouse.
Same here, I only have vacuum and the hand broom for the pieces that I want to broom first (soil when transplanting plants, big pieces of glass if something gets broken and for urgent cases when something needs to be swept after 10 pm when neighbours are resting). I think vacuuming is the best, because it doesnt lift the dust and the small particles are also vacuumed.

So I’ve had 5 concussions and a TBI and it definitely looks like you have one. You can see it in your eyes, and hear it in your voice after you got home from the clinic. Take care of yourself!!

Wow! You're so lucky you weren't alone! I got concussed when I was home alone and didn't realize I had a concussion until months later😅 The confusion can make you too fuzzy to realize you might need help. I turned out okay, but it makes me worry for myself and others now

The makeover was really lovely and such a sweet thing to do for Elliott! Also I'm happy that Kelsey is okey, concussions aren't a laughing matter even if they're light. I've have had two concussions in my life and the last one was pretty bad to the point that I should've taken a sick leave. What I noticed is: dark rooms, no screens, quiet and some light but heart raising exercise is good for the noggin. Don't know how long ago this was but I hope she's feeling better.
