For the pool party guy--if someone's KID had gotten hurt in his pool, don't think for a SECOND that the parents wouldn't have at the very LEAST filed a claim with his insurance!!! Not to mention they BROKE IN!!! Control your kids--or build your own pool--then, YOU can be responsible for all the teenagers in the neighborhood!

I lived in a similar small town as the one in the last story. One night members of the high school wrestling team tried to get served in one of the two bars in our town. They were refused service and told to leave. When the bar closed, they discovered that the teens had returned and we’re beating on the back door trying to get in. The bar’s DJ went out the door to try and talk the kids down. He was immediately attacked and was punched and kicked repeatedly nearly causing brain damage. Though the entire thing was on video, nothing was done because the wrestling coaches son was there as was the son of a prominent business person. It was also frequently stated that nobody wanted to ruin the teenagers life over a minor scuffle. About three or four weeks after the son of the prominent business person was involved in an incident where he was found beating on the door and yelling at people in the house he had decided he needed to attack. He was, of course, drunk at the time. A while later, his body was found shot to death in a local park. It’s a shame nobody ruined his life by holding him accountable for his actions. Had they ruined his life he might have had a life.

In cases like this, call the State Police to report the Local Police for Accessory to the Teens Crimes, the Media to try getting them to do a Story on Local Police Corruption and the Teens Crimes and then the State Attorney General's Office to report the Local Police for Dereliction of Duty, Aiding & Abetting the Teen's Crimes and a Lawyer to Sue everyone to Persecute the Teems and force the Police to actually Enforce the Law...

Last story: That's when you post the video online on towns facebook (or whatever) and point out the cops aren't doing their jobs. You need to make it the towns problem. I think both sides are wrong.
Forcing the teens to Apologize, repay damages, AND do some form of community service; should have been the first option.

It would be important to frame the narrative as "holding troubled teens accountable for their actions", and preemptively agree not to press charges IF the teens apologize and repay for damages.
Ironically this would 'ruin' their lives more than pressing charges.

Tell him to get all parents of teens involved, sit down and tell them to pay for all damages, that you will be installing more cameras and NO TRESSPASSING SIGNS, and expect the laws to be obeyed!!If not then you will sue each family and the city. Heck, you might become the new owner of a city!! LOL!!

It's disgusting how all those folks were saying OP shouldn't press charges for the pool incident saying it's not a big deal, just let it go, etc. when we all know that if it had happened at their home, they'd be pressing charges, too. The reason kids do this stuff is because they weren't punished for smaller things, so they keep doing bigger and bigger crimes. The longer they keep getting off the hook with no consequences, the worse they will likely become. If OP's going to let them off with just paying damages this time, he'd best make it clear that there'd better not ever be a second time if they don't want to end up in jail.

@@sheridanroad2001 I'm aware that accountability can be any form of punishment. You worded your comment poorly, making it sound as if you didn't know it. Also, you said people would be more "respective", which makes no sense. Did you mean receptive? As far as the entitled parents retaliating against OP for pressing charges, he should let them know that if anything like that happens, they can go to jail with their ill-parented spawn if they want to make it a whole thing.

I grew up in a small town and what OP experienced with the pool party is similar to what we experienced. The mayor’s brother solicited a bribe from my dad during a city council meeting. 2 of the nephews of the mayor got in trouble often. The younger got a family to move away and the illegal act hushed up. The older (middle son) did so much junk that he spent time in jail (his older brother caught him cutting cocaine on the kitchen table), manslaughter charges and before 30 dies of an OD.

Id turn the whole thing to the state AG office, along with the video, point out the mayor's daughter and niece, and the children of the buisnesen, and have something done, ill guarantee by sundown, that town would have a brand new police department, and city council, and those businessmen wouldve been outed in a big way.

Yeah their was a post where local teens kept breaking into Ops pool
Basically all the rich kids parents made it hard , banning him from stores and dragged his name , then he went away for a funeral but before that he installed a new fence and a pool cover that locks,
He came back to his house broken into and trashed stuff stolen fence pulled down and his pool destroyed, he was done and basically took all the video and photos and statement to a higher courts, he basically destroyed those teens lives it was almost the entire senior class, basically they were all sent to juvenile detention the class of 100 dropped to 40, and the town tried to retaliate but had bigger problems as they were being looked into by the state police and basically the town got new managers for shops and the entire city hall was replaced as they found alot of dirty deeds, and op sued them once they weren’t in a position of power and even his stuff was returned after the state police went though some of the houses
Op basically decided to turn his pool into a garden but decided to plant only pants like thorns or that cause irritation, because when some of the teens got out they decided to retaliate and tried to destroy the garden but got bad cuts and irritation and were back in juvenile detention op moved but not before bulldozing the land flat

Musical cars story: Good grief! I don't know what these people's problem is but having a driveway to use is a good thing. You're not as likely to have your car sideswiped if it's in your driveway.
Pool party story: Given it is a small town, yeah, odds are some of the kids are connected and the local cops could be a problem afterwards. BUT... should someone be hurt while trespassing in your yard/pool YOU can be held legally and financially responsible and those same connected families will have no problem taking you to court and suing you into oblivion. I'd consider getting a monitored alarm system that you can activate on the gate and with motion detectors in the yard/pool area that can be used anytime you're away from home.

I really hate it when people use prominence and status to bail their kids or any family member out. As someone “higher up” you should be holding your children to stricter and higher standards. My husband teaches at a school where anyone with power tries to get their kids in. My husband using his status as a teacher there got our kids in. However he’s expecting our children to be better behaved especially since daddy is on the other side of the school to impose discipline. Same thing with education. If you don’t meet the requirements to move on, daddy will use his power to keep you another year vs promote you.

Story 2: When I was in the Navy, I had an assigned parking spot in my apartment complex. It was a one bedroom so only one spot. That's okay, I just had the one car. Well I deployed for a bit and when I got back four months later, there was a car in my spot. No big, I figured I'd just wait for them to move and reclaim it. I had a good view of the spot from my front door. They moved, I pulled in and about 8 hours later, I was sleeping off the last four months of endlessly working and heard a furious pounding on my door. I got up and it was the parking spot stealer who was angry that I had reclaimed the spot that I paid for. I told him that I was deployed and am back now and he needed to find somewhere else to park. The guy actually called a wrecker on me! I rushed outside and showed the driver my information that the parking spot matched my unit and he left. This began a months long feud over the spot that I paid for every month. I would come home, he would be parked there, I would be parked there and he would lay on his horn. Eventually I had enough and began to get him towed every time he was there. After about the third time he eventually stopped though not before trying to get me evicted for "stealing" his car.

If it's 2000 people, it's small, and the cops and mayors there can be VERY petty. Guy we knew caught one of the cops having an affair, so the cops starting pulling him over and breaking lights to give him tickets, and the cops in question flat out told him he had a gun to plant on him if he decided to make the affair public. (I was maybe ten or so, so the days before easy recording of threats.) Guy ended up moving out of town, but told people EXACTLY why he was leaving town on his very last day, after he'd already gotten everything moved. He was gone to the nearest small city before the cops had any chance of catching up with him. Nothing happened to the cops, of course, other than the one guy getting divorced and ostracized after his STBX 'fell down' repeatedly. (No one could prove otherwise, so no prosecution.) This is the same area where one of the town cops had his license restricted to being able to go to and from work, and drive on the job. Because of a DWI arrest and conviction.

I don't understand how these people like to protect these teens, how would they like if these kids trash their house the same to their house. They are giving these kids free passes through life to the point they will literally get away with murder.
In exchange of seeing the police department demand to make a peach to the police force about they are going to let this generation destroying themselves by protecting their legal behavior. Citing other cases of privileged children destroying innocent people's lives.

Oh hell, no. You break into my stuff--possibly exposing me to significant liability--and you are going down. There's no way I am going to let that go. And I don't think OP was being unreasonable.

Last story: That’s the downside to living in a small town. The kids of the influential people get away with anything. What makes it even worse for you, you’re considered an outsider. So, naturally the town will be against you.

Last story: THAT'S why the US is even worse than a third world country! There is no justice system in the US, just the rule of money. Third world countries at least have hope to improve...

Last story feels a bit fake or if this story is legitimate he should have gone to the press for all to see these kids breaking in his backyard using his pool without his permission and destruction of his private property and tell the press how the cops are doing their job.

What makes you think the press are any better than the cops? If the cops have hassled the press or have them in their pocket, the article will never see daylight.

For the last one (pool party) idgaf if it is the presidents kid. I would have their ass hauled off to jail and prosecuted. If the parents brought a stink i would sue for harassment and keep on sueing until it sinks in that neither they NOR THEIR KIDS ARE ABOVE THE LAW!!!!
