    Starliner Cursed! Something Bad Happening on SpaceX Cargo to ISS due to...
    So strange!
    It seems that while Dragon is thriving, the road to the ISS has been riddled with challenges for everyone else lately. The cargo spacecraft SpaceX launched just yesterday to resupply the ISS is now encountering problems. Is there a curse following in Starliner's wake?
    But don’t worry-SpaceX is pushing ahead with its crew missions to the ISS this year, highlighting an exciting new partnership between the US and India. And let’s not forget Rocket Lab, which has just launched its latest Electron mission!
    Buckle up and dive into these thrilling developments in today’s episode of Great SpaceX!
    Starliner Cursed! Something Bad Happening on SpaceX Cargo to ISS due to...
    Following the recent incident, Falcon 9 has resumed its pivotal role in the aerospace sector with renewed strength.
    On August 4, at 11:02 a.m. EDT, SpaceX's Falcon 9 successfully launched from SLC-40, carrying Northrop Grumman’s Cygnus spacecraft on its 21st cargo mission to the International Space Station (ISS), designated NG-21. This mission is notable as it marks the second launch of Cygnus aboard Falcon 9, following the NG-20 flight earlier this year. This transition represents Northrop Grumman's shift from using the Antares rocket to Falcon 9 for Cygnus missions.
    Approximately eight minutes after launch, the first stage of the rocket executed a successful landing at Cape Canaveral’s Landing Zone-1, achieving its 10th flight milestone. Meanwhile, the second stage continued its trajectory, and about 15 minutes after liftoff, the Cygnus spacecraft was deployed and proceeded on its mission to the ISS.
    The initial phase of the mission, with Falcon 9 at the helm, proceeded without issues, reinforcing SpaceX's reputation as a leading launch service provider. However, subsequent challenges arose with the Cygnus spacecraft.
    Starliner Cursed! Something Bad Happening on SpaceX Cargo to ISS due to...
    In a post-launch update, NASA officials reported: "Shortly after launch, the spacecraft missed its first scheduled burn at 11:44 a.m. EDT due to a delay in burn sequencing. Known as the targeted altitude burn (TB1), it was rescheduled for 12:34 p.m. EDT but was aborted shortly after ignition due to a slightly low initial pressure state. At this time, there is no indication of any problem with the engine itself."
    Additionally, the mission faced delays as it was originally planned for August 3 but was rescheduled to August 4 due to adverse weather conditions.
    While issues during space missions are not uncommon, the situation with Cygnus is noteworthy. The spacecraft had successfully completed 20 previous cargo missions without incident. The recent problems, occurring in the wake of Starliner's arrival at the ISS and other global challenges with rocket systems, may suggest a broader trend of difficulties affecting space missions.
    This mission is also indirectly linked to the Starliner situation. The Cygnus spacecraft is carrying approximately 3,720 kilograms (8,200 pounds) of cargo, which includes 1,560 kilograms of vehicle hardware, 1,220 kilograms of scientific investigations, and 1,021 kilograms of crew supplies. This cargo is crucial for the ISS, especially given the delay of the Starliner Crew Flight Test (CFT-1), which has left astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams relying on the station’s emergency reserve food supplies. For those skeptical of any intangible influences, the tangible impact of these delays on the ISS is evident.

    While I have very little confidence in Starliner, the point was to have multiple and independent capability for manned missions to the ISS. The F9 incident a month or so ago demonstrates that a failure can ground a system for an unknown length of time. As good as Dragon and F9 has been (and, has NASA given an OK for F9 to carry crew given the mishap?), it is possible for moderate to severe disruptions due to a mishap.
    Cancelling Starliner may remove one thorn, but it doesn't replace it with anything else that is viable for the near future. The only one I can think of that might be capable is Dreamchaser.

    • @NateDecker1982
      @NateDecker1982 Месяц назад +1

    • @Zhiroc

      @@NateDecker1982 IIRC, the FAA didn't require a mishap report before returning to flight because the failure did not involve a public safety issue. If something were to happen where the FTS needed to be invoked, it probably would have involved a significant grounding period.

    It is agreed that at this time, the SpaceX Dragon has the best reliability with respect to traveling to and from the International Space Station (ISS). However, we should recognize that the Dragon spacecraft is really only intended to transport to the ISS, while the Boeing Star Liner has been designed to go to the ISS and beyond (i.e., Moon, etc.). So, if the current version of the Starliner is not acceptable, then its rework must be done with the Dragon standing in. If the Starliner is completely dropped, then a whole new and different craft would need to be fabricated by Boeing or whoever. If only Dragon is used, its usefulness will be affected by the expiration date for the ISS. unless only low earth orbit missions are considered.

    NASA demanded multiple ways to reach the ISS, so Boeing accepted the challenge and suffered because of the fixed price contract. Sure they underestimated the effort required.
    You need to wonder if this effort is worth the NASA design aims. The ISS is planned to be destroyed in the not so distant future. So really, is it worth the effort to have redundancy?

    The problem here is the obvious SpaceX bias. I'm very happy with SpaceX and I agree Boeing ain't doing well, but this channel does make a LOT of negative speculation that is unfounded about SpaceX competitors. This can be a pro-SpaceX channel without pushing unfounded, negative, speculation about the competition.

      Listen well Boeing received double the Budget and delivered a POs that does it work the critics are rightly justified to be mad it’s my tax dollars going to a broken space craft 3 flights all failures same issues !! Space X is saving us money wake up !!

    • @Jedimaster-el1ve
      @Jedimaster-el1ve Месяц назад +4

      Bias that is so far from the truth space x is successful Starliner does not work after how much money Bias is an ignorant statement !! The fact is Boeing is a mess DEI killed Boeings quality control and engineering hiring practices this is the ended result !!

      What negative "speculation" are you referring to? Two Astronauts have been stranded in space for 6 weeks now, with no return date yet. Will Boeing be able to get them home? is not "speculation", it is genuine concern. The problems Boeing is having are problems which should have sorted out by unmanned flights before putting two lives at risk.

      @@Jedimaster-el1ve I've already said I like SpaceX, and I agree with you on the waste of money we have seen from Boeing on this. But that doesn't justify some of the speculation we hear on this channel. Further, that speculation isn't even necessary as folks can stick with the known issues and impacts and be negative enough with just that.

      @@Jedimaster-el1ve I agree with you about the DEI bullsquat. But, let's not forget the teething troubles that SpaceX had too. Ignorance does abound here, but not from me.

    Could NASA cancel Starliner and divert $ to Sierra Space for crewed Dream Chaser?
    While they're at it, wind down SLS and divert funds to Hubble, Chandra and liner rover..
    Maybe it's time for a paradigm shift from staus quo and engineering employment to mission and task focused efforts?

    Every company gets too hide bound after a while . At that point, quality begins to slip. SpaceX is no different. People working there for a long time get a bit more sloppy in their work. Boeing is a fine example of too big, too sloppy in their work. The American auto companies are another.

    Cannibalism.
    i had a dream where on an island doing the Survival Challenge, a group could not find food, and since they were in international waters, not subject to any countries laws, it was decided to consume the weakest crew member.
    Suddenly everyone became robust and resourceful and energetically out and about looking for any source of nourishment the Island or the Ocean could provide.
    Funny how a little change in plan can make people either complacent or industrious depending on the press to SURVIVE.
