Really dont need nor want this. However, when someone with a german accent tells you to buy something you just do it. I now have 6 on order, I hope its enough.
Mmh I got this pedal and have to say that using it as a Pre Amp or Compressor is not too easy. The Volume changes while engaging are too drastic. After finding a good sound it sounds quite descent. I bought it to control my Di signal and using the thru channel for my amp. If this does not work too good then I use it as a headphone pre amp.
Maybe the hiss is normal for a single coil bass? On most guitars/basses with single coils, raising the treble with the tone knob introduces more noise and hiss. Could this be a similar situation with the HB Pre?
@@basstheworldofficial Understood. Still considering similar DI/Preamps like the EHX Battalion or Tech21 SansAmp are double the price or more, it seems quite decent. Thanks, good job.
I have one since the first batch. It does the job for foh and as a practice amp it is great. It has a clean sound, so no ampeg or fuzz sounds. Takes pedals as wel.
@@johnconlon8635 Sadly filtering signal is always worse than maintaining signal integrity. Long story short, a bit of hiss is a bit of bad. Suppressors should only be used for ambient issues like EMF or when you go really high gain. Also, he said the hiss happens when the treble is way up actually implies that the treble control is an active high pass filter. Using an EQ or multiband compressor will probably allow you to get rid of it without using a noise suppressor.
how did you get such a clean signal through the DI output while recording? when i use an adapter and switch on the compressor I get a continuous hissing sound, for both Live and recording. Please help.
What specific bass was he playing at the end of the video? It sounded great. But It's like everything came together perfectly to block the view of identifying marks lol.
Forgive my ignorance....but "bands are not using amps anymore?" Can someone please elaborate? I mean I have a general idea of what he means but...I dont at the same time haha
Most sound guys prefer to work with DI's, so a lot of bass players stop carrying amps to reduce the amount of stuff they have to carry, so they just use in ears
This thing sucks. I bought it last year and checked it out. The compressor sucks and the mid controls did not really work. Also it was hissing a lot. Better buy two sets of strings... 😄
Nice unit but... 1. No bypass - On/Off switch is only engages EQ, Volume is always on. Quite difficult to use on stage. 2. This green/red LEDs are misleading when the unit is on large pedalbord neighboring other units. Very uncommon. Still cannot remember it. 3. You can get the same unit much cheaper. It seems ELECA is producing it for Thomann. Street price is around 50 CHF. ... however, this Preamp works well and not useless at all.

I love that color-changing bass he's playing.
Bought this pedal when first released. No complaints .
The bass used in this demo is killer. I've watched your video of Jayme Lewis playing it an embarrassing number of times.
If tried to use the line in to play music From my smartphone while i play the bass, causes a loud noise and no Sound is audible? Thanks for help
I use the pedal for practising by myself. Actually a nice headphone amp.
Thanks nice review
I think it's really good precisely because it sounds so neutral and with that price is a no-brainer for a beginner practice-DI with headphones.

The hissing I was describing came from the preamp and has nothing to do with the bass

@inthepocket dude, even the high end stuff has chinesium in it

I can put up with a bit of hiss for that price .
reffoelcnu alouncelal you could also get a noise suppressor for cheap.

Could you please make a video about the Radial Engineering JDI? I´m particulary interested in the sound with and without the cab simulation. Thanks!
Nice. I think I’ll check it out soon.
Is this the same pedal as the ModTone Bass XL? It looks identical. Is Harley Benton sold as ModTone in USA?
To raise this comment from the grave: yes, it is exaclty the same.
I need bass all in one. does the dir out have cam sim?
Sounds amazing
It actually sounded great.
There's no link to the product.
check the very first link in the video description
LOL!
Very cool, how does it compare to the sansamp?
This is better
WTF???Is it really HB??
Sounds huge and awsome!!!
Ich muss ihn haben!
I don't even care about the pedal.
I saw Ilja. I clicked.
I want to buy this because of this video. Does your affiliate link still work if I change the language or do you get paid as soon as I click it?
Once you click the link you can do whatever you want on the page.
Surprisingly good sound at a basic level
Thank for review, needed a self-defenser
Some notes: the Volume knob is always on. Even when the pedal is disengaged.
The blend is only for the eq... Kinda useless.

Maybe you got a faulty unit. Make sure your gain is setup properly, otherwise maybe try to get a replacement from Thomann
@@basstheworldofficial it works fine with batteries though. You feel the adapter must be faulty or it is still the unit?
Looking for a pedal that will make my electric bass sound like an acoustic upright for Bluegrass style.
Mozztronics BP-6. It's a little on the pricey side, but I think it sounds absolutely amazing for upright. Robust little unit.
@@WilDBeestMF thanks. I'll check it out!
@@WilDBeestMF I cant find any videos on it. I searched quite a while.
What is the guitar on the window behind you ?
a Mayones Cali Mini Bass
Is this preamp before the other pedals or after?
After if you want to use the DI out

Looks suspiciously similar to MicroBass 3...
I'll try one out based on your review. And now your video have NEIN-NEIN-NEIN likes;)

Thanks, man. These video "reviews" all appear to be paid advertisements. I miss the old days, where "reviews" were not pure sale videos.
For the EQ to work, you have to have the blend to the max.
2 sets of strings....I'm lucky to get 1 set for that 🤣
Thomastiks hurt wallets
What is the model of this ?
Can’t seem to locate.
Click the link above in the description next to "MORE PEDAL INFO*". Goes directly to Thomann.
Which do u like best this pedal or the NUX with the blue knobs ???
The NUX
