I saw Bernadette Peters in Gypsy as the mother about 10 or 12 years ago. She was the hardest working person I have ever seen. She gave it her all. Worked her rear off. Love her. Might I say also, Good Lord! That dress! Wow! Talented woman, but I'm drooling just looking at that.
I saw her during this tour. Hollywood amphitheater. My 16th birthday. My mom got me and my younger stepsister a white stretch limo from Oxnard to Hollywood. I hung around the back door and got in to meet her. I was 16 and it was the best 10 moments of my life.
It is so nice to listen to someone that could actually sing this song, Bernadette Peters pulls this song off filling the complete level. She plays the role so extremely well, and can actually sing as well!!! Love her!!!!
I am a HUGE fan of both Sutton Foster and Bernadette Peters and they are both amazing and totally incomparable with each other! They are so different and both INSANELY talented!! If you want to say that one of the most famous Broadway veterans in history has no talent, go ahead, but nobody is going to like what you say... Go Sutton and Bernadette!!
Papa is... God? WHERE DID THAT VOICE COME FROM? So, so powerful. Her voice is crystal clear and demands attention of both the ears and the eyes. Thanks for posting!
She's the most talented person in brodway history she's really interested in her role as seen in manny of her live performances and especially in her album performances as well gosh dang I wish she was more well known I feel like if anyone's to get into musicals people should go to her cause hot damn not only is she really hot and beautiful but she knows what she's doing and she's really talented and her voice oh la la it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside and also of course her role as rita in animaniacs was how I found out about her musical style as well as her vocal range as well annyways before the new year is dawned upon us I I thought now before i forget to do it I thought now would be a good time to go over my favorite songs from this year that I've listened to also it changes a lot and especially now since I've I've dedicated my life to only listening to rock sugar as well as Bernadette peters herself witch is what I'm doing right now lol anyways though in terms of actual music that's all that I'm listening to it will probably not change annyways for the other stuff I've been listening to those count for all the incarnations of the various different scooby doo theme songs as well as thier respective ending credits as well then almost every single song from animaniacs manly the ones that the warners and rita and runt sing that is anyways next is where the boys are sung by the talented fifi la fume and whoah man listening to that song for the frist time in over quite some time now it officially brought back some happy memories of when I frsit laid eyes on her in 2015 witch is also when I frist listened to that song as well I believed that's right dont rember what month or date I specifically listened to it I I remember is that I listened to it in that year annyways though listening to it now in 2020 brought back a lot of precious memories of fifi annyways moving on also all the songs from wakkos wish are catchy as well annyways then my last and final thing of songs that are my favorites from this year are from sesame street now these ones I've narrowed it down a bit becuase for this list I've only listened to the songs that characters like cookie monster elmo bert erine grover big brid zoe sniffy rosita parie dawn abby cadabby and the oinker sisters sing just to name a few also the list does not contain anny of kermits songs from the show I know that sounds harsh but hey that's my opinion so either deal with it or not annyways though one last song that I remember listening to way back when as a yingling was Hawaiian war chant from the enchanted tiki room as well as a bunch of other songs from that attraction annyways though when I listened to Hawaiian war chant I was like oh I rember listening to this when I was younger and I had no I idea that was an actual song in real life as well annyways brought back some memories as well annyways stay tuned because you never know when I'm going to update this list most of it will change but a lot of it will still stay the same becuase why change the stuff that's been already well established as being my favorite songs from this year
@@wickedfan811 It's too bad your comment can only be read if someone clicks on the 'reply'. Because up until I did that I was believing she was 60 based on the previous comment. So I can imagine how many other people are gonna read the "60" comment and move on without getting your clarification. Oh, I know what I'll do! I'll post a general comment about her age so people can see it readily.
I saw Bernadette in the ANNIE GET YOUR GUN revival in 1999. What a thrill to see her in a show and not on a TV screen. She never ages, and her voice keeps its power. She’s always perfect and amazing.
I agree. Without getting nasty (since I know so many people love her) suffice it to say that no one is more impressed with Patti LuPone than Patti LuPone... and yes people, I do know her personally. Bernadette is a goddess.
haha wow it looks like she almost forgets to sing into the mic when she sings "Goodbye to blueberry pie!" haha but that's how you know she's really into it! She just wants to throw out her arms and sing!!! AAAH I LOVE HER SO MUCH!
I'd be afraid I'd end up giving a free show, lol! She is the ONE AND ONLY Mama Rose!! The best Broadway has ever seen...and that goes for any role she's ever played. I met with her last year, and she is the sweetest, kindest person! The reigning Queen of Broadway!
@HuckHuck96 I agree, you cannot deny talent. And she undeniably has that with charisma to burn. But even then, in my personal opinion, had her performance been as arresting as this song requires, no one would have noticed her dress. But you can tell from the performance that she has connected and communicated with her audience which is what really matters. I am not a huge fan of this particular interpretation sadly, even when I hear it without looking at the screen. But she is great.
Patti, Ethel, Bette and all the rest of 'em can belt their faces off all they want, but no one does Mama Rose like Bernadette. She made the character SO human and real, when all of the others made some campy, over-the-top cartoon of her.
The is a song for B because she can strut and sing. Handful on Merv Griffin who were song weavers. I did get to see Bernadett live and he other weaver Jane Olivor. Wanted to also see melissa manchester.
I felt it was too upbeat at certain points compared to some of her other performances of it. However, she has the ability to do differently and still be awesome all the time!
i saw both and wow they were so different it's hard to compare, i personally like patti's more but BP's was fab!!!! but they did kind of almost play 2 different characters...
No she doesn't, her hair looks like Merida's but her face body, and everything else not so much. But, I'm guessing, if your saying that, that you don't even know who she is. BTW she is a musical theater goddess, don't demean her by saying she looks like Merida, if ANYTHING Merida looks like her.
@@TimothyRobert93 Omg why the fuck are you being so defensive? Merida is an animated character and a GREAT animated character if you will. She looks realistic and has signature curly red hair.....that's what the person likened to Bernadette. Do you have a personal problem with Merida? Cuz if you have a grudge with an animated character believe me you're fucking pathetic lol
If anyone is wondering... Bernadette is 50 here. This is in 1998. But posted on RUclips in 2008.
Bernadette Peters traded her soul to Sondheim for eternal youth.
That's a good deal if I ever heard one!
What?
True
I feel like he gladly gave her his youth lol

That dress sure adds an element of suspense.

Her presence on stage is remarkable
If I was told she was actually in her 20's, I'd believe it.
Unbelievable voice. Impossible to believe that she's 60 in this video, and almost 70 now.
Actually, in this video, she's 50.

This song suits her voice so perfectly!!!
She's such a queen!
Tearing the stage uppp
I was really surprised when I found out that She turned sixty this year.Yet She is still just as brilliant.

I saw her do Gypsy on Broadway. It was wonderful.
In that Dress? She didn't need his 88 cents! Bernadette Peters made her own way her style on her merits Bravo for her!
She is adorable. Also a goddess.
What a great performance.....if not the best out there for this difficult number that takes a lot of talent and energy.
Is there a more talented woman in show bus than this lovely gal? Help me out here cause I can't think of any. I just love her so damn much.
BEST VERSION EVER. no one can top this. bernadette peters FTW and ALL THE WAY.
thanks eric, love it. saw her live and it was fantatstic
2:46 I love how the volume of her voice dips there as if the character is saying something hush hush.
This woman is amazing!! Her voice is like none other, she is beautiful!! And that hair of hers, oh my god, I love it!!

Why some people just love Bernadette Peter
27 people are still sitting on their butts eating blueberry pie.
BRILLIANT.
LOVE!!!!!!

I don't know why we can't praise Bernadette while putting down other amazing female performers.
very great
@CaliCaliente00 She was only in her 40's in this! This was 1998 :P
No one sang it better than Liza in her prime. And Liza's "Rose's turn" is the best. Liza would have great as Rose.
LOVE HER!
lol. That's funny. I have the concert tape and never even thought of that.
She's so damn amazing.. :L
for loop purposes, song starts at 1:16
Sher's perfect!
It's spelled Cher, and this is Bernadette Peters. Come on, pay attention.
Does anyone know when whether there will be any more concerts in England?
I would love to see her...
She is just amazing!
Fab! Watch her march!

bernadette's hair flip makes me giggle =]
Great
"You ain't gettin' 88 cents, Rose?"
My response to that would've been, "Lord?"
id go straight for you Ms Peters
Just...
...just all kinds of "damn".
What a wardrobe but amazing performance by Bernie P!

Why 21 people doesn't like this?? What's happening with your ears??

+Molly C. She emoted the full diaipason of emotions of this song. A tour de force triumph.
JudgeJulieLit I completely agree. I've listened many times to her soundtracks, so that statement about tempo/beat is biased.
❤❤ ❤❤❤❤
ME TOO!!!
i saw both and wow they were so different it's hard to compare, i personally like patti's more but BP's was fab!!!! but they did kind of almost play 2 different characters...
Whow.
Omg, I can't believe she was almost 60 in this 0___0

Timothy Robert Jeez chill I wasn't attacking her. I know who she is, her voice is beautiful, I hardly think I'm demeaning her though.
Ironically the character of Mother Gothel from Tangled is more or less based on Bernadette's performance as the Witch in Into the Woods

I just died. Died.
How does she do it?
When she says Marvin is she talking about Marvin Hamlisch?
when is this from?
and then she went to be in gypsy as rose lol
That made ypu laugh out loud?
agreed! far more talent in her pinky than all of them put together... better looking too.
I love GAGA, but I agree :-)
the jazz hands at the end are funny
