This show really didn't have a chance. It was in the same timeslot as Wheel of Fortune and the first half-hour of The Price Is Right which were the top two daytime network game shows at the time.
Thanks to Beddy White getting the Westpoint question wrong, I think I now know what the line "Where even a right answer can catch you in a trap" means. LOL!
@bluebear1985 yes, that in addition to the "right answer" sound (when all three wrong ones were out,) which is the theme for the price is right's "grand game" and the rarely heard end of the "family feud" theme.
@DorvellTStewart I remember when Trivia Trap was originally on because it aired at 11:00 am on weekdays, with a fading Family Feud following it at 11:30. When Trivia Trap was canceled in April 1985, ABC replaced it with another equally short-lived game show: the Heatter-produced All-Star Blitz, hosted by Peter Marshall. All three shows were annihilated in the ratings by CBS's The Price is Right, All-Star Blitz especially.
Is this the first show where the "bleep" sound effect was used? They used it on "Family Feud" as the answer reveal in the Fast Money round starting in 1988 and have been doing so ever since.
Sounds to me like Trivia Trap would've lasted longer if ABC had given it a better time slott. Either that, or if it were picked up by either Cbs or Nbc instead!
I wish GSN would bring this back. This and all the other great older shows. I'm sick of this crap they show now. And I still haven't figured out why they feel the need to have poker when every other channel has it too.
I've never seen this show, but I love the theme song! It's not what you'd expect from a game show, which is what makes it unique!

Amazing. In 1984, Mark Goodson had three debuts on "The Big 3". NBC had "Super Password", CBS had "Body Language", and ABC had this! Cool, huh?!
I LOVE TRIVIA TRAP SO MUCH WEN I HAVE HOLIDAYS I WATCH IT AT 11:00 Pm I LOVE U TRIVIA TRAP!!!!!
They've brought back the Mark Goodson obscurities "Body Language" and "Child's Play" in recent months, so I wouldn't rule this out.
ive never seen this game show...ill be looking for it on gsn! i like that wrong answer sound, that's crucial
The sound that is used to reveal the answers is the same sound that was used in later episodes of Family Feud... Its still used to this day.

Bob Eubanks has 3 shows Newlywed Game Trivia Trap n Card Sharks
This was the last week of the original format of Trivia Trap before it switched to the Fact or Fiction? and revamped Trivia Trap round.

Good point, good show this was, lousy time slot.
Jayne/Betty had more class in their little fingers then Vickie Lawrence ever had. Dunno but Vickie just always irritated me.
